That meeting ended up becoming the start of a new chapter for Elizabeth. A chapter filled with drama, hatred, hope, as well as happiness. From hunting demons together, Elizabeth grew closer with Nico as the two lived their high school life. Conflicts, jealousy, and confessions stood in their way of being together. Despite all those things, everything will only become much more difficult for them in the future. It may even require challenging the world.

What I Have (part 1)

1.15 - What I Have

-----

Apparently, the bell rang right when I was chasing Nico.

By the way, the guy was running to his classroom since he didn't want me to chase him. I couldn't reach him even though I ran as fast as I could. To top it all, I even ignored the pain in my head since I was so embarrassed.

All I wanted was to punch that guy in the face, and yet I couldn't even do that.

Whatever. I'll meet him later after school, anyway.

I arrived back at the classroom and noticed how silent the class was when I entered. Everyone was rowdy before I arrived, and suddenly they all turned to me when I came.

Oh, right. I have officially become public enemy number one.

"Congratulations for pissing everyone off. You did amazing."

A voice called out to me right after I sat down on my seat, and I looked up to find Peach. She was alone, so it looks like she purposely didn't get any company with her.

"Well, accepting him would only make things worse. Don't you agree?"

"It's one thing if he confesses to you, but rejecting him was the worst option. Now, everyone hates you for wasting such a wonderful chance. I'm surprised you didn't even realize that."

"I guess that's debatable. Thanks for the help earlier, I was in a rush that I couldn't thank you."

Hearing me thanking her, Peach giggled a little.

"Don't be so happy. Don't forget the promise you made earlier."

"I won't. I always kept my promises."

The deal that we made, so that she would come and help me out.

That is, to not befriend anyone inside the classroom, especially Emil.

Having me staying close with Nico is one thing for Peach, since she probably never had a chance with him anyway. But, Emil is the girl that everyone likes to be friends with. Peach doesn't want Emil to be tainted by my toxicity, hence she made that request to keep me away from Emil.

Being close to Emil made me realize just how dangerous it is to be acquainted with me. Earlier when I was desperate and truly needed help, I went to the one and only person I've been talking with since yesterday. Emil was the only person I can ask help from, and that alone already puts Emil at a dangerous position.

I agreed with Peach's request. Having Emil around me is only going to be dangerous for her. I have plenty of enemies, and it's only going to be even hotter from now on. I have to keep my distance from her.

Even if Emil is approaching me, I have to push her away. This is all for her sake.

After hearing my confirmation, Peach nodded and began walking away. I turned my glare quickly towards the seat on the front, and Emil was staring at me apologetically from her seat.

I lowered my face and placed my head on the table, not wanting to make eye contact with Emil. After all, agreeing to this deal is simply the same as breaking our friendship.

And that friendship has only benefited one side, so far. It is not a good relationship to begin with.

Back to being lonely again. But, at least now I have a super hot boyfriend.

Man. Life just throws you into this weird tantrum, huh?

School ended after the second lesson, and everyone got to go home as soon as noon arrived.

It took my class a while to finish the assignments from the teacher, and the class ended up being late on leaving. By the time our class was done, all the other class was already emptied from any soul, except for the students on chores duty.

I met up with Nico at the front gate, and it looks like he isn't alone. He had half of his entire classmates waiting alongside him, as if expecting something to happen.

I noticed what was happening, and I just kept on walking. Nico noticed me approaching, and he separated himself from his friends to get to me. Everyone turned their attention to the two of us, and I know what is about to happen is a scene for everyone to see.

And… so be it.

As soon as I got close to him, I wore the widest grin I can wear right now. Nico saw that and got confused, but I suddenly sped up my movement.

BAKK!!!

Very quickly, I punched him on the stomach. It was not that powerful of a punch, but it was enough to get Nico lower his body from the surprise.

"What was that for!?"

Nico shouted as he faced upwards, but I pulled his hair up to face me forward. I also lifted his chin up with my hand, and I pulled his face closer.

And then, I kissed him on the lips.

Yes. In front of everybody.

It was much faster than what he did, since I too was rather embarrassed. I only did it to embarrass him in front of his classmates, as well as to show the girls from class A who is the champion.

This is my way of showing dominance. Not towards Nico, but towards all those girls who contributed to beating me up in the bathroom. I could see a few of them being part of the class A crowd watching us by the gate, and I'm showing them about who has won today's battle.

It's me, bitches. You can beat me up all you want, but Nico is mine.

After only three seconds, I pulled my face away and smiled at him. Nico looked widely shocked from the sudden kiss, but this is also a revenge kiss he did at lunch break earlier.

"I'm only returning the same thing that you did to me earlier."

Hearing that, Nico lost his mind. Everyone else, too, lost their minds. The entire class A students turned rowdy from how stupid this whole scene was, and I noticed one person leaving towards the school gate.

Alica. She was watching the entire time.

I ignored the crowd and pushed Nico away, and he fixed his balance as he stood straight again. He was still covering his mouth from the surprise, and he couldn't hold back his laughter.

"Haha! That punch just wasn't necessary, though!"

"Of course, it is. You left me all alone on the stone table, surrounded by seniors."

"Oh. That."

He laughed even louder, and I became even more tired of him. While he was laughing, I could see his friends slowly approaching us from behind him.

"Man, you two are just so unbelievable!"

Jeremy said as he suddenly strangled Nico. The guy was short, but he had the muscle to push Nico down all the way to his stomach.

"Woi, Jeremy--"

"What happened was definitely entertaining! I'm expecting a lot more entertainment from you two."

Link the glasses guy said as he messed up Nico's hair, and Nico couldn't do anything since he was being strangled by Jeremy. And as usual, the bald guy Randy stayed silent.

"We still have three whole years in front of us, and you two are already acting out! Seriously, I'm worried if you two might get kicked out."

"I'm kicking you out, Jeremy! Let me go!"

Nico is always so fierce with his friends. I guess that's the side of him that he'd show to his close friends.

"Was your forehead okay? Everyone saw how your face was covered in blood, earlier."

Link asked very seriously, which startled me because I thought he disliked me. But, I guess now that Nico and I are officially dating, he will start treating me better from now on.

"As you can see, the nurse at the infirmary did her job. It's all good now."

I said while patting the wound covered by the bandage, and Jeremy whistled when he saw them.

"Damn, to think our class's girls would actually do those things to you. They were so cruel, huh!?"

"Well, it is a battle between us girls. No need to be so surprised."

I said, and Nico finally freed himself from Jeremy's strangling.

"Okay, we're going! No more questions!"

Nico announced loudly, and he quickly walked to me. He grabbed my hand and began walking away, completely ignoring his friends who were complaining to him.

We walked past a lot of class A students who were by the gate, and we kept on walking even after we passed the gate. I'm not sure where we are going, but it looks like Nico had an idea.

"Your friends sure cared deeply for you."

I said to him as we walked, and Nico snorted after hearing that.

"Yeah, right. They're just an annoying bunch."

"Agreed, but they're not bad people, were they??"

"… I guess not."

Haha. He can be embarrassed about his friends too.

I turned my eyes towards his hand that was pulling mine, and I thought to myself how good this feels. Only one person ever held my hand like this, and it was him.

We didn't even know each other for that long, and yet it felt like we already knew so much of each other. I wasn't even thinking of him that much at first, but then I began to fall in love slowly. His ability to understand everything perfectly made me so conscious of how perfect he is and how much I wanted to be right next to him.

But, I know that reality has always been so harsh towards me. Even though I know that it was impossible, I still wished for him to be mine. And no matter how hard I tried pushing him away, he always found a way to slither back into my view.

Our worlds are upside down from one another. He is the most popular boy, and I was the most hated girl. He is handsome and is loved by many, and I'm like a lone wolf who bites anyone that tries to get close.

I'm not pretty in any way, and I'm certainly not rich. I have nothing aside from my nasty personality, and probably my ability to see ghosts.

And yet, in the battle between a being like me and a beautiful girl like Alica, he chose me. When I pushed him away, stopping us from ever talking to one another ever again, he came back without minding my request even a little bit. I was a terrible individual that nobody even wants to be close with, and yet he chose me to be the one he likes.

Just… what is it that you saw in me, Nico? If it wasn't physical perks, if it wasn't riches, if it wasn't fame nor personality, then what is it?

Just what do I have that other people don't?
