Chapter 9: Three Gift Packages (Part Two)

"Storage space is a dimension existing in another world. Once opened, the host can freely store things within this space." Inside the Maya system, every change in Fang Chong's expression was well understood. Just as Fang Chong was about to ask, the Maya system had already provided an answer.

"There's something like this?" Fang Chong was on the verge of exclaiming, "Oh, sweet deal." These concepts like alternate dimensions once again exceeded his understanding. However, without any cost, and given that it could provide significant assistance, Fang Chong was more than willing to accept it.

"The existence of an alternate dimension space can only be developed by civilizations of level five or above," sensing Fang Chong's confusion, the Maya system offered an explanation.

"Sweat," Fang Chong felt a bit numb. Too many astonishing things had happened today.

"Is there still something beyond my understanding in here?" Fang Chong looked at the remaining box in front of him and slowly opened it.

"Knife" The last box didn't contain anything particularly rare; it was a knife about one meter long, with a width of about five to six centimeters. The entire knife was a dark black, and its material couldn't be discerned. The blade emitted a peculiar glow, giving Fang Chong the first impression that it was extremely sharp, perhaps like those legendary swords in martial arts novels that could cut through iron like mud.

"'Silent Annihilation'" After Fang Chong lifted the knife, he realized that it was far from what he had imagined. The first sensation was its weight—enough to make Fang Chong feel its heaviness, probably weighing several tens of kilograms. However, what caught Fang Chong's attention were the two characters 'Silent Annihilation' engraved on the knife handle.

"The knife is named 'Silent Annihilation,' a black tungsten alloy blade, extremely sharp, capable of cutting through the armor of creatures below level twenty," explained the Maya system.

"So, chopping zombies would be like cutting cabbage?" After listening to the Maya system's explanation, Fang Chong, who was already interested in the knife, now found it even more irresistible.

Today has been quite lucky. Every ambush on zombies has been successful, relying on the moments when they pounce on other zombies to smoothly chop off their heads. Otherwise, attempting to decapitate a zombie with those two flimsy kitchen knives or a fruit knife is simply impossible. Even with these attempts, the fruit knife has accumulated many small nicks, and there's a chance it might snap while beheading a zombie.

Now, with the blade 'Silent Annihilation' in hand, Fang Chong no longer worries about weaponry. With a satisfied mind, he exits the inner workings of the Maya system.

In the warehouse, Fang Chong's awareness returns, but he realizes that both the survival manual and storage space are nowhere to be found. If he wasn't holding that dark blade in his hand, he might have thought that everything that just happened was a dream.

"To view the contents of the survival manual, the host only needs to concentrate," the Maya system, now fused with Fang Chong's thoughts, responds. "As for the storage space, simply think about opening it. However, it belongs exclusively to you."

"Open storage space." Now understanding how to use it, Fang Chong gives it a try. Just as the Maya system explained, with a silent thought, a space of about one cubic meter appears in front of him.

Staring at the space that materialized out of nowhere, Fang Chong is not only surprised but also amazed. However, in the midst of an apocalypse, he has come to accept these astonishing phenomena.

"Collect." After snapping out of his amazement, Fang Chong retrieves the space. After several successful attempts, he is satisfied and secures the secret. Such a feature is absolutely not something he can let others know about.

"Ha-ha, it seems the apocalypse isn't that depressing after all," Fang Chong thinks to himself while munching on biscuits and jerky. Today, receiving three gift packages has significantly lifted his spirits. With these items, as long as he remains vigilant, the issue of survival shouldn't be too worrisome.

"The mall isn't a safe place to stay for long, survival is the top priority," Fang Chong thinks as he sits in the pitch-black warehouse after a satisfying dinner. After all, survival is the harsh reality.

It's the second day, and hiding in the warehouse is currently safe. However, after some time, the zombies will start evolving, enhancing their vision, smell, hearing, speed, strength, and more. Staying here for too long poses risks.

"No matter what, I need to raise my level to the strength of ten people," Fang Chong decides, realizing that strength is the greatest assurance for survival. With his current threefold strength and the 'Silence' blade, facing three or four zombies simultaneously should be safe as long as he remains vigilant.

He vividly remembers what the Maya system mentioned earlier—within the first ten levels, every ten zombies killed would increase his level by one. Today, he managed to kill over twenty zombies, so leveling up is just a matter of time.

"First, let's store the food in the space," Fang Chong decides. He knows food will be the scarcest resource in the apocalypse, and having a place to store it is essential.

"Chocolate, jerky, and other items have high nutritional value, especially those containing sugar, providing substantial calories," Fang Chong analyzes the food in the warehouse under the glow of his smartphone screen. The one cubic meter space is not vast, and he needs to be mindful not to fill it up too quickly.

Considering nutritional benefits and compact size, Fang Chong prioritizes items like chocolate and sugar-containing products. He quickly fills the space, being resourceful by removing external packaging to make room for more items.

"I should be able to manage on my own for two months," Fang Chong concludes after squeezing in bottles and boxes of milk. Although two months might seem lengthy, in the apocalypse, time could fly by. As for what to eat after that period, he'll have to rely on fate.

"At least I have the 'Survival Guide for the Apocalypse'," Fang Chong chuckles wryly, finding solace in self-reassurance.

After completing these tasks, it was getting late, and Fang Chong had no intention of checking what the survival guide contained. Tomorrow, he would need to kill more zombies, so preserving his strength was the top priority. Exhausted from a day of activities, Fang Chong curled up in a corner of the warehouse and quickly drifted into a deep sleep, even blocking out the sounds of zombie activity outside.
