9 Chapter 9: Urgent Situation

Chapter 9: Urgent Situation

"Hah!"

Jiang Lei's breath was heavy, and his body was covered in wounds. The battle with the serpent was very hard for him and it has almost drained him. "Damn it! I looked down on that thing," he swore, grinding his teeth.

He stumbled to a nearby tree, leaning on it for support. He examined his wounds, feeling a surge of urgency. "I can't stay here," he thought anxiously. "I need to heal these wounds quickly."

He knew the forest is a death trap, especially for an injured cultivator, being injured in the place like this is already considered as half dead.

The pain was intense, and he felt the poison from the serpent's bite spreading through his veins. "This poison is spreading fast," he realized with growing concern.

Thankfully, Jiang Lei had foreseen the possibility of such an encounter and had prepared accordingly. "I'm fortunate I brought this medicine," he murmured, bringing out a small vial from his pocket.

Pouring a few drops of the medicine onto his wounds, Jiang Lei winced as the burning sensation intensified. "That serpent's poison was very strong," he thought grimly. "But at least I have a way to counter it."

He climbed upon a tree, his back against the tree trunk. "I need to rest and regain my strength," he told himself, his eyes closing as he focused on conserving energy.

As he rested, his mind raced. "I'll have to find a safer place to recover," he mused, knowing that he couldn't afford another encounter with a powerful creature in his current state.

"Once I'm healed, I'll reach the village, the faster I can," Jiang Lei said as he leaned to the tree.

Minutes turned into hours as he sat there, silently tending to his wounds and willing his body to recover. The forest was quiet, except for the rustling leaves and the occasional sound of animals.

Slowly, Jiang Lei felt his strength returning. The pain began to subside, and he could sense the poison losing its grip on him.

Jiang Lei was not sitting idle, he was refilling his energy that he lost in the battle with the monsters, now he is more confident to fight that monster.

"Okay I am almost healed, time to leave," he whispered to himself, a faint smile touching his lips.

He couldn't afford to stay in one place for too long. As the moon ascended into the night sky, casting an otherworldly glow over the forest, Jiang Lei rose to his feet.

---

"I'll have to complete this mission anyhow, there's no mission except it that matches my condition, If I couldn't complete it, I won't have left any other way to participate in the competition."

He knew it was a risky mission, but he had no choice. He needed the Azure points to enter the competition, the only chance to get the power and control he seeks.

Jiang Lei's eyes were fixed on the map,

"I need to reach the village before the monster reach," he muttered as he looked at the dark mistwood forest, its sight was enough to scare many cultivatiors.

He could barely see the path ahead of him, illuminated only by the faint moonlight.

"Rush!"

Jiang Lei wasted no time. He knew he had to reach the village before the monster did.

Jiang Lei ran as fast as he could, he swayed like a snake as he dodged the trees and branches that blocked his way.

He sprinted through the forest, glancing at the map, trying to find the shortest route to the village.

He had memorized the layout of the forest, but he still needed to be careful. The forest are usually full of dangers, and he doesn't want to fall into any of them for his haste.

He hoped he was not too late and that the villagers would be safe.

"ROOOAAAR"

Jiang Lei's heart raced as a spine-chilling roar echoed through the night, sending shivers down his spine. He instinctively knew that the roar came from the monster that threatened the village. He increased his speed using his ember steps, his heart was racing rapidly and a cold sweat appeared on his forehead with the fear.

As he ran, the forest seemed to blur around him, his sole focus on reaching the village as quickly as possible. The terrifying roar continued to reverberate, mingling with the cries of people in distress.

The darkness of the forest seemed to close in on him.

.....

The light of the village began to pierce through the trees, a beacon of hope in the darkness.

He could now make out the forms of frightened villagers, some huddled together, others desperately trying to escape. "Leave! Monster is approaching!" he warned, his voice cutting through the chaos.

The villagers looked to him, fear and desperation in their eyes. "Help us!" someone cried out, their voice filled with a mixture of panic and hope.

Jiang Lei's chest heaved as he stopped after running for such a long time and, he waved his hand and said with a forced smile. "I'm here to protect you!"

He was smiling but his heart was beating loudly, this was the first time, he was going to face a such a bloody and strong enemy.

The confrontation was imminent, and Jiang Lei knew that he was the villagers' last line of defense.

Jiang Lei's gaze went towards the direction of the approaching threat, his heart pounding like a drum in his chest. The ground quivered beneath him with each monstrous step, as if the very earth recoiled from the creature's presence. He whispered with a disappointment in his voice, "Such a bad luck..."

Around him, the villager's faces etched with terror. Their eyes widened as they caught sight of the approaching behemoth, and their bodies trembled with fear.

"What... what is that?" one villager stammered, his voice barely audible above the cacophony of fear.

Jiang Lei's throat tightened as he struggled to find his voice. "It's a monster," he managed to choke out, his own fear mirroring that of the villagers.

"Please, you're our only hope!"

"Save us from this nightmare!"

"Do something, anything!"

Tears welled up in the eyes of a mother clutching her child tightly. "Please, save us!" she cried, her voice a desperate plea that expressed the sentiments of everyone present.

"Please, Calm down, I will do whatever I can, I have been sent by the Azure sect to save you".He said with a calm and steady voice, suppressing his fear.

The villagers cried and huddled together, seeking comfort in each other's presence. Their eyes moved between approaching threat and Jiang Lei, he was their only hope.

Jiang Lei's hands clenched into fists at his sides, his fear was natural as he hadn't any experience to fight with the monsters, this was first time in both lives that he was about to face such a strong demon, but he knew that fear won't work here, he will have to stay calm in this situation.

...

The monstrous form of the approaching creature became clearer as it emerged from the shadows, an ominous aura surrounding it. The fear of the villagers deepened as the realization of what they faced settled in their minds.

As the monster's massive form emerged from the shadows, an ominous aura surrounded it, sending shivers down the spines of all who aaw it. Towering before them, it stood as a nightmare of the absolute terror.

Monster's body was a weird fusion of scales, sinew, and monstrous might. Each step it took sent tremors through the earth, evidence of its enormous size and power. Its eyes glowed like twin orbs of malevolent fire, radiating an otherworldly intensity that seemed to pierce through the very soul.

Its back was covered with jagged spines, extending in a menacing crest that resembled a crown of cruelty. Its muscles rippled beneath its dark scales, showcasing a strength that was beyond comprehension. Massive claws adorned its limbs, glinting ominously in the dim moonlight.

The monster's maw opened wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth that glistened with a deadly hunger. Its breath came out in deep, guttural growls that reverberated through the air, a haunting symphony of upcoming doom.

When the villagers looked upon the monstrous entity, their terror intensified. It was a creature born from the darkest depths of nightmares, a living embodiment of fear itself. And in that moment, as it drew nearer, Its size and malice that settled in their minds, an image of dread that would haunt their memories for their whole lives.

They had never seen a monster like this before, this is not just a monster, it's a walking small mountain.

They can't help but fear that this is the monster that has attacked them twice before, they looked at jiang lei who was looking at the monster with serious eyes.

They can't figure out that how a boy like an ant to the monster is gonna fight this monster and save them.

Jiang Lei's eyes remained locked on the approaching monster, paralyzed by fear. The sheer size and malevolence of the creature were beyond anything he had ever encountered. His instinct screamed at him to run, to flee from the presence of this monster.

And with the appearance of monster, it's panel also appeared before jiang Lei's eyes.

Monster: Dreadfang Ravager

Cultivation: Foundation Establishment Realm

Current Combat Power : 6th Level of Qi Condensation Realm (Severely Injured)

Skills: Maw of Desolation, Roar of Annihilation

Talent: High level Darkness Talent

Note: Despite its Foundation Establishment cultivation, the Dreadfang Ravager's combat power has been significantly reduced due to its severe injuries. Its current strength is comparable to a cultivator at the 6th level of Qi Condensation Realm.

"What the hell!!" Jiang Lei's heart pounded in his chest as he read the information displayed before him. The words etched themselves into his mind. The realization that he is facing a being of such immense power left him trembling, a pit of despair forming in the depths of his heart.

In that moment, the possibility of survival seemed impossible.

"Fuck!"I don't want to fight this monster."

Jiang Lei wanted to turn around to run away, but unfortunately he found that the only way to flee from here is blocked by the collosal size of the monster.

Jiang lei just want to kill that person now who said that the monster is in first layer of qi condensation. "If this monster is in qi condensation than doesn't it mean that I didn't even start to cultivate yet."

But after reading all the information about the monster, a flicker of hope managed to pierce through his overwhelming fear.

"This monster is injured."

Despite its fearsome appearance, the monster was not at its full strength, although its still almost out of his reach and his chances of victory is very low, but its still better than a foundation establishment monster with no hope.

As the monster drew closer, its movements became even more apparent. It was evident that the injuries it had sustained had taken an effect on its once-formidable prowess.
