13 He Answered It?!

Worldly knowledge being reduced.

If Reo didn't see it for himself, he wouldn't have believed it.

It turns out that this world was so focused on basketball that they hardly paid attention to anything else and this included the Math Olympiad.

Reo couldn't help but laugh awkwardly in his heart.

If this was truly the case, then going by his previous world's standard, wasn't he considered a genius in this one?

Why did he feel that this world was specifically tailored just to suit him personally?

If this was truly the case, then he would probably excel in any field that he chose.

However, it was truly unfortunate for all those other fields since he had no intention of joining any other field other than basketball.

He was someone with the Court Ruler System.

If he really chose some other field, not only will he be losing the opportunity of a lifetime, he would even get a harsh scolding from the system for the rest of his life.

He would be like a beggar who just rejected a lottery!

So, looking up at the questions, Reo didn't waste any more time and immedietly picked up the chalk and started writing on the blackboard.

Seeing Reo writing on the board, the students were quite shocked initially but that expression was soon turned into a sneer that was plastered on their faces.

"This fella still has the guts to write on the board? Is he simply playing a fool?"

"I think he might just write on the board, 'I don't know the answer. Please forgive me' instead"

"Hmph! Asking for forgiveness now? As if I will ever forgive him! The hate between him and I are lifelong!"

"That's right! Do you know what he did to me in our first year?!"

"You? I was doused in toilet water for just pushing him down so don't you dare complain about yourself!"

When Reo heard his classmates whispers, he nearly fell face forward on the blackboard.

Did he really do such a horrible thing?

Dousing someone in toilet water during their first year in elementary school? It seemed that the previous Reo was someone who harbored quite a grudge.

It was no wonder that everyone hated him.

Also, he didn't know if dousing someone with toilet water was the upper limit or lower limit to his pranks.

If this was only the lower limit to his pranks, he could only promise to go to the temple the next day to light up incense for those poor souls.

Back at the side, Mr. Lu was still sneering as he saw Reo writing down the answers.

In his opinion, this fella had decided to persist until the very end before giving up.

How else could he explain this then? Writing down the correct answers? That was merely a pipe dream for him!

However, after a while, the sneer on Mr. Lu's face soon disappeared, only to be replaced by shock.

'This....How can this be?', Mr. Lu's mind was in turmoil as he looked at the words written on the board.

He could understand them but it didn't mean that the students could.

As such, they started making some noise when they saw Reo finish his writing.

"Hey, doofus. Are you done already? That's so short!"

"That's right! Have you given up already? What did I say? Trash will always be trash!"

"And here I was worried that he would actually answer the question! Teacher, his answer was wrong, right?"

Mr. Lu's mind was still is confusion as he witnessed the answer written on the blackboard. Hence, he only managed to squeeze one sentence from out of his mouth.

"It's correct"

The previous student who asked the question quickly stood up with a gloating expression before pointing at Reo, "Haha! See, I knew you were....Wait, what?!"

The student immediately froze in his posture as he turned back to his teacher.

What did his teacher say? It was correct?

Impossible! Wasn't Reo just trash?! How could he get the answers correct then?!

The same thing was going through the minds of almost every student in the class.

Even Mikasa looked a bit shocked.

Wasn't Reo always bad in his studies? How could his answer be correct then?

Finally, one student couldn't accept in anymore and immediately slammed the table.

Standing up, he shouted, "Luck, it must be luck. Reo must have planned this from the beginning and already memorized the answers from the past tournament!"

Hearing their classmate's statement, the other students began protesting as well.

"Yes, it must be that! You saw how confident he was in challenging Mr. Lu! He must have planned this out all in the beginning!"

"Detestable! Despicable! How could such a bastard exist in our school?!"

"That's right not only was he trying to get benefits in the class, he also tried to trick all of us as well! I will immediately go to the principal to request his expulsion!"

This time, when Mr. Lu heard his class making a ruckus, he didn't yell at them to stop.

Instead, he was still staring at the answer on the blackboard with countless thoughts going through his head.

'Was it really luck? It can't be, right? This workings are quite complicated even for a middle school student much less an elementary school student'

'Could he really have planned all of this? No, I must test him again! There are still 2 questions left', Mr. Lu thought.

Picking up another chalk, Mr. Lu walked over to another empty portion of the blackboard before writing down another question.

He then turned to Reo and said, "You managed to answer the first question correctly, Reo. Now lets see how you fare in the next one".

During this time, Mr. Lu carefully observed Reo's expression as he read the question on the blackboard.

Unlike the previous question, Mr. Lu had taken this question from the Math Olympiad held more than 20 years back.

Even if Reo did plan this all out, there was no way for him to memorize over 20 years worth of answers.

His mental capacity would surely not allow it!

However, contrary to his expectations, Reo didn't even look the slightest bit nervous as he started writing down his answers.

Looking at Reo's calm expression, Mr. Lu couldn't help but wonder.

'Was he really a genius this whole time but was just pretending to be an idiot?'

Thinking about this, Mr. Lu couldn't help but want to give Reo a few knocks on the head.

For almost the entire year, he had always been getting scolded by the higher ups because of his class's low scoring percentage in their exams.

Of course, the main factor was mostly due to Reo who could hardly even get one answer correct.

But now, it turned out that he was pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger and to obtains benefits from him instead.

Mr. Lu couldn't help but feel bitter deep down inside and wondered if Reo was actually trying to bully him.

He was not a pure born Japanese citizen. Instead, he had migrated from China from more than 20 years back with his family to move to Japan.

He had faced quite a number of discrimination before and over time, had gotten used to it but he never expected for this to happen.

Was this child who was not yet even 12, really trying to land him into trouble deliberately?

However, going through Reo's past reports, he quickly shook his head.

Reo had always been the impulsive type of person and while he could plan a few pranks, it wasn't into such great detail as to make him lose his job.

Still, he found Reo's excuse of not wanting to compete with his fellow students to be utter rubbish.

After all, who in the world would purposely get zero marks in every exam just because they didn't have any competition to deal with?

No one! Cause there was no one who was stupid enough to lower their future prospects just because of boredom!

Mr. Lu still wanted to continue on his mental debate but Reo's sudden voice shook him out of his daydream.

"I'm finished"

'So fast?', Mr. Lu couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.

He couldn't quite believe Reo's claim and involuntarily glanced at the board.

At the next moment, he was astounded.

Correct again!

By now, all doubts of Reo memorizing the answers of the previous Math Olympiad were thrown out the window.

There was no way it was possible. As such, the only explanation that Mr. Lu could find was that this brat was actually a genius.

However....

It was a genius who was pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger!

It was utterly infuriating for him to discover such a genius who enjoyed being weak just to troll others for fun and laugh at them from the sidelines.

Also, there was the deal that the two of them had initiated.

If Reo could complete the final question, then he would actually have to allow that presumptuous brat to not pay attention in his class anytime he wanted.

It was like indirectly telling him that he was not good enough to teach such a genius.

'No, I must definitely make him fail!', Mr. Lu's thoughts became evil as he started planning for Reo's downfall.

No matter what, the integrity and honor of a teacher must never be challenged.

As such, for the third and final question, Mr. Lu chose a question that even he didn't know.

This particular question came out 5 years back and had thoroughly stunned the contestants of the Math Olympiad back then.

It was finally deemed as one of the top 10 questions in the history of the Math Olympiad with the highest unanswered rate.

And this was only at the state level!

Such a question was considered hard even in the international-level tournament but it was put in the state level instead!

For Mr. Lu to give Reo such a question, he was surely not filled with good intentions.

However, his reputation as a teacher was on the line!

No matter what, he couldn't afford to lose face in front of his entire class!

Like most Chinese, he valued 'face' above all else.

So, with that in mind, he started writing the third question on the board.

When Reo who was patiently standing at the side saw this question, his eyes lit up.

'Finally, a proper Math Olympiad question! This question would surely qualify as a proper regional-level question', Reo thought.

If Mr. Lu were to hear his thoughts now, he would surely kneel down and start worshipping Reo.

If this type of question only qualified to be a regular regional-level question, he couldn't imagine how the international-level questions would look like.

This time, Reo didn't start writing straight away.

Instead, he began thinking about the question.

Even for him, he would need to think for a while when confronted with a regional-level question. After all, he wasn't Stephen Hawking.

For a regional question, he would need to be cautious when facing it, lest he fail and become a laughing stock to the entire class.
