. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Seeing his father's 'kind' look, Reo felt a chill run down his spine.

He didn't have much interactions with his father as of late but knew how much his father placed importance upon his education.

After all, he didn't want Reo to be the same as him....a truck driver.

While he deeply wanted his son to be good in basketball, it didn't mean that he wanted Reo to forsake his education altogether.

So, for him to see Reo skipping class, he must surely be infuriated.

At least that's what Reo thought but unbeknownst to Reo....he was just overthinking it.

His father wasn't upset at him skipping class to play basketball. Instead, he wanted to know why his sweet, adorable boy ended up on the front page of the f*cking newspaper and why this article was so harsh with it's critiques!

As such, he proceeded to make Reo explain.

"So, my boy. Can you explain what is happening here?", Reo's father asked again with that same smile on his face.

Reo's face was a bit pale as he knew that he was going to get a scolding but first....he needed to find out what was happening!

So, picking up the newspaper, he began thoroughly reading the article.

'STREAMER THROWS AWAY SHIBUYA CITY'S FIRST EVER JSPORT LEVEL 3 IMPACT FACTOR!!!'

Just by reading the headline, Reo felt cold sweat dripping down his back.

Even the headline nearly dissuaded him from continuing. One could imagine how bad the article must have been in criticizing him.

So, swallowing his fear, Reo continued reading.

'Yesterday at precisely 9.35a.m, Shibuya City was bound to have a new record jotted down in it's glorious history of achievements when tragedy struck our beloved city!

Reo Fuji, a 10 year old elementary school student of Jingūmae Elementary School who was the prime focus of the livestream was bound to make history by being the first streamer ever in Shibuya City to achieve a Level 3 Impact Factor in JSport when he abruptly turned off the livestream just when the livestream was about to peak!

Due to such abrupt behavior, Shibuya City not only lost visual of Reo Fuji defeating a 153 students in a one on one basketball challenge but also the glorious achievement of being the first streamer in Shibuya City to ever get a Level 3 Impact Factor in JSport!

For such an achievement to be thrown out deliberately, it shows that parents are not able to properly raise their children in a proper manner as to not deliberately....'

Stopping right there, Reo refused to read any further.

Because he was pissed!

What bullshit about parents not being able to raise their children properly?! You have no bloody right to critique on something like that!

Also, what about him being in a livestream?! He didn't even know that the whole thing was recorded for God's sake!

If Reo knew that Nakamura was behind the whole thing, he would have deliberately revealed Nakamura's name to the media. He would rather have Nakamura take the heat since it was his bloody account in the first place.

This media people could find out about his full name, age and even his school address but they couldn't find out the owner of the livestream account?!

Reo knew what JSport was. After all, he was in this world for over 3 weeks and he would have to consider himself ignorant if he didn't know a media mogul like JSport.

Still, while JSport was considered a big thing, was it really so damn important for Shibuya City to get a Level 3 Impact Factor until they were willing to criticize him on the front page in such a harsh manner?

Reo didn't think so and apparently from the gleam in his father's eyes, he didn't think so either.

Sighing, his father calmly put his coffee mug down as he stared at his son.

"I don't really care about the Level 3 Impact Factor but can you please tell me what the heck is this 153 challengers about?"

Reo stood still for a while.

His father wasn't angry as he had expected him to be and instead of focusing on the Level 3 Impact Factor that was bolded in the newspaper, he was more concerned about the 153 challengers that Reo faced.

As far as he knew it was impossible to face against 153 challengers.

Well, some of those geniuses back in his days could do it but in a background place like Shibuya City where economy and finance was more focused, it was thoroughly impossible.

So when he saw the morning paper, he was nearly close to fainting when he saw a snapshot of his son in the middle of a jump shot on the front page of the newspaper.

That was his sweet, adorable boy on the front page! As a parent, who in the world wanted to see their child get publicly criticized on the front page of the newspaper.

Thankfully however, this newspaper was only distributed in Shibuya City.

If it had been a national newspaper....forget it, he rather not think about such horrible things.

As for Reo, he was stunned for a little while but soon proceeded with his explanation.

He proceeded to tell his father about him challenging the whole school to a duel in which he succeeded in defeating 153 students before the teachers barged in.

He also told his father that he didn't notice being recorded. He was rather clear about that part.

Exposure was good but not in this manner. He was already breaking the school rules by playing basketball during school hours and he didn't want to take the extra weight of being accused of using a phone in school.

Of course, he left out the part about him being arrogant and inciting the anger of the entire school to fight him. If he told his father that, he was positive that his delicate behind wouldn't be able to handle the spanking.

Never underestimate the punishment dealt by an Asian parent for it will leave childhood scars that will carry on until one's marriage!

All this while, Reo's father was calmly listening to Reo's explanation without much expression which looked a bit weird to Reo.

Wasn't defeating 153 challengers enough to impress his father?

However, right at that moment, his father stood up and walked over to Reo.

Reo didn't move away from his father but immediately stiffened up. He felt the subtle threat of a parent upon him.

Still, his father didn't scolding Reo but patted his shoulder in a calm manner.

"Alright, thank you for telling me this Reo"

Eh?!

Reo looked at his father with a complex look.

That's it? No scolding, no spanking, nothing?

Was his father really letting him off the hook like that?

However, after seeing his father not doing anything out of the ordinary for a few seconds, Reo finally relaxed as he let out a relieved sigh.

Seems like he was just overthinking it after all. His father actually turned out to be quite an understanding person.

However, at that exact moment!

Whoosh!

His father suddenly wrapped an arm around Reo's head and put him into a tight headlock.

"Damn brat! You actually defeated 153 people in a row and you didn't bother to tell your father first?!"

"I had to read it from the damn newspaper instead! Compensate me, you stinking son!"

"This kind of things must be celebrated and not kept hidden!"

Hearing this, Reo nearly fainted from frustration.

It turned out that this old man of his was just waiting for him to drop his guard!

Just thinking about this made Reo want to pour a bucket of ice water over this shameless old man.

What kind of father was this?! Since when would any father be so shameless in making their son lower their guard?!

What kindness?! This was just blatant betrayal of human trust!

However, Reo couldn't continue his thoughts any longer as his father started giving him a hard noogie on the head.

"Ahh! Dad, stop it! My head's spinning!"

His father however, was ignorant to his pleas as he shamelessly replied.

"No chance. This is your punishment for being such a genius"

Reo nearly spurted blood after hearing that.

Punishment for being a genius?! In which universe would one ever be punished for being a genius?! This father of his had broken the records of all those shameless characters from his previous world's novels.

He felt that if those characters were to meet his father, they would surely bow down to his father in respect for his shameless ways and call him 'Master'.

Then, all of a sudden, his father asked another question.

"Oh yeah? Why were you sleeping on the floor yesterday? If you were tired from the challenge, why didn't you sleep in your room instead?"

Feeling frustrated with his current treatment, Reo absentmindedly replied.

"I continued training after coming back home"

However, after a few seconds, Reo seemed to realize what he had just said.

'Shit!', Reo thought and in the next moment, his headlock tightened significantly.

"Crappy brat! Even after exhausting yourself, you still have the guts to practice again!?"

"Just because I've been working overtime for the last few weeks, it seems like you have become rather undisciplined. Seems like if I don't teach you a lesson, you won't know how to value life anymore"

Unknowingly, that article criticizing bad parenting had incited Reo's father to properly 'discipline' his son.

With that, the celebration turned into a punishment as his father changed his noogies to hard knocks on Reo's head.

But he wasn't done yet.

Oh no, he was gonna give Reo a preview of his secret parent torture....Ahem! Punishment techniques!

So, for the remainder of the morning, Reo's miserable screams echoed off the 4 walls of the house as his father properly disciplined him to value life.

All this while, no one could have imagined that the harshest scolding Reo received in Shibuya City was from none but his own father.
