Prologue:

"We're divorced."

Ruan Yifei's voice was not loud, but it was enough for everyone inside the room to hear it. A couple of gasps were heard, but she didn't care, nor did she turn to see who they were.

Her eyes were glued to one person. That was her husband. Or, to be exact, her soon-to-be ex-husband, William Chun.

William looked back at her with a shocked expression. He would never expect her to drop this bomb in front of their families. But what was done was done.

Until last month, she had acted out the perfect role of a wife for him. To be honest, in their four years of marriage, they were more like colleagues who coexisted in one office. They never fought and worked together—that is, until he broke the cycle by bringing his lover into the picture.

He cast her aside because she couldn't give him a child.

Simply because of that, the four years they were together were gone. In exchange, he was blessed with a child and a new lover at the cost of Ruan Yifei's heart.

And until the end, he didn't want anyone to look at him with a disgusted look for being a cheating bastard who cast his wife to be with his lover. No. He wanted to be looked at as a good husband by everyone.

But how could Ruan Yifei let him have that?

"Wha—what did you just say, Yifei?" her mother-in-law, Li Qin, asked. She was a traditional woman who hated the idea of any of her children being divorced.

"I said we're divorced," Ruan Yifei repeated. She didn't care what others would think or how they would react. She just wanted out. "We've been divorced for two weeks now."

BAM!

The silence that followed the loud thud of Master Chun, William's father, hitting the table with his palm was terrifying.

Even in his old age, the old man had the strength of a young man. But at this moment, his experience and ruthlessness flashed across his eyes as he glared at her.

"Divorce? Why would you divorce each other? I won't allow it!"

Ruan Yifei cast Master Chun a glance, then shook her head. "It doesn't matter if you don't allow it. We've signed the divorce papers and have already finalized it in the Bureau's office."

Master Chun looked at her confusedly, a deep frown furrowing his wrinkly face.

"You… if you really divorced my son, then why are you still here?"

"I'm here to announce something."

Instead of prolonging the tension and suspense, Ruan Yifei produced a rectangular card with intricate and beautiful designs and placed it on top of the table under everyone's eyes.

"Although we're no longer in-laws, we still spend time together. That is why I'm here to invite everyone to my wedding. I'm getting married."

This time, they finally noticed the diamond ring that she wore on her ring finger. It looked conspicuous at first, but upon second glance, they noticed that it was not the same wedding ring that was passed down in their family, which was a ruby diamond.

Instead, on Ruan Yifei's ring finger was a colorless diamond the size of a small cherry.

William looked shaken by the sudden news. He couldn't accept it as he whispered, "Yo—you're getting married?"

Ruan Yifei nodded without a word.

William shook his head as if it could refresh his mind. His lips continued to open and he questioned her, "Who…who is it? Who's the bastard who will marry you?!"

Ruan Yifei didn't answer. But her eyes moved to the other end of the table. As if on cue, a man wearing an expensive business suit and an impeccably handsome face placed his glass of wine gently on the table.

He raised his head as if he sensed William staring and smiled.

A silver band brightly sparkled as his hand moved.

Then he said, "I am that bastard. I'm marrying her, little brother."
