The giant shadow wolf stood tall and imposing, its dark fur blending seamlessly with the shadows of the surrounding forest. Its coat was a deep, inky black, making it almost impossible to see in the dim light.

Despite its large size, the wolf moved with a fluid grace, its muscles rippling under its thick, shaggy fur. Its eyes gleamed with an eerie red light, reflecting the fury and aggression burning within.

The wolf's powerful jaws were lined with sharp, glistening teeth, ready to tear into any prey that dared to cross its path. Its claws were long and razor-sharp, capable of rending flesh with ease.

And who was against them?

It was me!

When I was about to leave the forest, after training for five days, I encountered this wild bunch.

As always the wolves continued to circle me, their eyes gleaming with a feral hunger. I made sure to keep my guard up, sword at the ready, while thinking of breaking this encirclement. 

The wolves lost the patience in no time, and started attacking me. 

With a fluid grace, I began to swing the sword. Compared to previous time, I was more comfortable while using sword. While it was a good improvement for me, the wolves were not so easily deterred.

Gathering the mana, I unleashed a barrage of spells.

After reading so many books and skill manuals, I learned the 2-star spell 'Mana Bullet'. And with hunting, my accuracy had increased.

It was arduous process. 

As bullet spell's proficiency was low, I couldn't shoot bullets after materializing them quickly in the air. It was slow.

So I came up with an idea; thinking of my fingertips as a gun and releasing the spells as bullet. At first, I had to support my hand with other hand to keep that hand straight and reduce the recoil impact. But as time passed, I was even able to shoot with only one hand.

Of course, I had to stop my other hand momentarily to keep my body's balance.

Once the posture was set, regulate the breathing. Take a deep breathe and exhale, leaving the right amount of air. At the moment of release, think of pulling the trigger.   

The wolves howled in pain as they were hit by the spells, but they did not give up.

But against the onslaught of magic and sword, they only lasted a few moments.

The Giant Shadow wolf dashed towards me, baring its teeth in a menacing snarl, preparing to unleash its full fury on me. As it charged forward, I remained calm and focused. 

The moment you lose focus, you die. 

[Light Curtain (Light Attribute, ✮2)]

A curtain of light appeared between the giant shadow wolf and me.

Like a desperate lover to meet someone, the giant wolf started pounding on that. In result, it soon broke. But because of that, the Giant Shadow wolf's speed somewhat decreased.

Which gave me some time to prepare. I started gathering the raw power of mana, a crackling energy began to pulse around me, building in intensity with every passing moment.

Finally, I unleashed the spell.

[Lightning Bolt (Thunder Attribute, ✮2)]

A bolt of lightning, crackling with raw power, leapt from my fingertips and hurtled towards the giant shadow wolf.

The wolf snarled in defiance, its eyes flashing with anger as the lightning bolt struck it head-on. For a moment, the creature seemed to absorb the energy, its fur standing on end as it bristled with electricity.

But then, with a final, pitiful whimper, the giant shadow wolf fell to the ground, lifeless. The spell had been too much for it to bear, and it had succumbed to the sheer force.

I stood there, watching as the wolf's body smoldered with residual energy, my heart pounding with the thrill of victory.

I hastily collected the corpses before I encounter any other hunter.

In past five days, I met a few other hunters. Fortunately, they didn't bother with small fry like me. I also avoided using light magic in their presence.

After five days of consistent training and hunting, my stamina improved. Skill efficiency and mana recovery speed also increased. 

The best part is, I acquired two spells after studying those manuals.

Effect: calls down a strong lightning strike, dealing hefty damage to the target.

While they weren't much powerful spell, it made some things easier for me. 

I can shoot bullets with infusing attribute mana. And Lightning bolt was good spell to finish off the enemy. 

Still, the mp cost for them was little high compared to other spells.

'It won't be a problem in future though. As my level will increase my mana pool will also increase. And mp cost of these spell will decrease as their proficiency rises.' 

'System, show me my current magic recovery rate.'

'At this rate, it will take around an hour to recover my mana if I drained every bit of it.'

Honestly, this was quite pathetic compared to other characters. Even extra characters would have better stats than this. 

'It would have been nice if I could made it to level 40 and form 3rd Circle.' I sighed. 

As there wasn't anything to do in the forest anymore, I gradually started walking towards the exit of the Dark forest.
