Chapter 2 Military Academy

One hundred and fifty years ago, the Earth was just a normal home for humans, where everyone led the same boring life.

But suddenly, the Earth they once knew changed to the point that they couldn't even recognize it anymore.

A mysterious energy called star energy entered the Earth, causing it to expand and strengthen many times; many continents that were once opposite to each other fused.

But that wasn't the end. All living beings began mutating into dangerous, man-eating monsters.

Even some humans also turned into man-eating monsters and those who didn't gain supernatural abilities and access to star energy.

To survive, humanity fought back with full force, launching all the nuclear bombs they had, causing mass destruction throughout the whole world.

But just when humanity thought they were winning, space cracks began to appear around the world.

And from those cracks, emerged otherworldly monsters that humanity named 'Dungeon Monster.'

These dungeon monsters were far stronger than the mutated monsters they had faced.

Some could even survive the nuclear weapons, and some were even stronger than nuclear weapons.

To fight back, humanity began to use that star energy to cultivate and break the limit of their mortal bodies.

In just around a hundred years with that power, humanity regained their home planet.

But before they could celebrate their victory, an alien race called Vorax waged war against humanity.

Just like humans, they could also use star energy to cultivate, and because of their stronger physique, even in the same rank, they were stronger than some of the most talented humans out there.

The war lasted for another fifty years, with neither side winning. Although Voraxs were stronger than humans, humans were more in number, and neither side used a full-scale war yet.

Due to the war between humans and the Vorax, every person, when they reached the age of 18, was required to go to a military academy for three years.

Even though Humans and Vorax were in a peaceful period, everyone knew that it wouldn't last forever.

Every day there were news and tensions of one race antagonizing the other, and war felt like it could start at any moment.

Since Jin Wei had nothing else to do and had nothing to take, he headed off with Sergeant Cooper.

As soon as he got out of his room, warm sunlight greeted him.

Although Vampires began to lose their power once they came into contact with sunlight, Jin Wei felt no such thing because of the normal-looking black ring he was wearing on his right hand, middle finger.

This ring is called the 'Nightvault.' It not only helped him resist sunlight but also had an inventory feature, with 15 cubic meters of space inside. And he can store any nonliving things inside that space.

Because this was a bound item, no one besides him could use it.

Jin Wei thought while walking, but Sergeant Cooper became irritated, noticing his absent-mindedness.

"What are you doing walking so slowly!! Do you think you are going on a family picnic? Hurry up, or you will know the consequences!" Sergeant Cooper threatened.

Finally, Jin Wei reached a large bus parked just outside his small hut.

When he entered the bus, he noticed that it was already full of students all the same age as him.

Since Jin Wei didn't know any of them, he just went to sit at the front of the bus, which was the only seat that was still available.

The students were all talking to each other in excitement, but that quickly stopped as soon as Sergeant Cooper came on board.

"Alright, it's time for us to head to the military academy."

The bus then started to move, and the students were finally on their way. The bus remained silent during the journey.

Whenever a student would start to speak, Cooper immediately would look in their direction, and the student would shut up.

Cooper didn't even have to say anything; they all knew what he wanted just by looking at him.

About 10 minutes into the journey, Jin Wei smelled something he was unfamiliar with.

When he started to look around the bus, he noticed that nearly all of the students were either asleep or dozing off. Jin Wei just remembered in the original plot, something like this also happened.

But since Liam was just a halfling, his poison resistance was low, and like everyone else, he also fainted.

But since Jin Wei was a Vampire, normal poison didn't work on him, so he was fine. But he can't let others find out about it, so he just acts like he also fell asleep.

If he was a normal human and acted like he was asleep, Sergeant Cooper would have easily found out, but since he was a vampire, his heartbeat was very slow, so it's not possible for others to find any abnormality unless they tried to use all their attention on him.

The journey is about 2-3 hours long. And since Jin Wei had nothing to do, he also fell asleep for real, due to boredom.

Then the next moment, Jin Wei could feel a splash of cold water being chucked on his face. His eyes opened instantly, and all he could see was the green grass.

He and several other students lifted their heads to look around. There were currently a total of 300 students standing out on a plain open field But when they looked around, they were in a place that was completely foreign to them.

"This is where you will spend the next three years of your life."

The students were amazed at what they were seeing. They felt like they were in an advanced city from a sci-fi movie. Flying cars and humanoid robots were common in some big cities, but the military academy seemed a generation ahead.

Jin Wei wasn't much amazed by his surroundings cause the Nocturna planet was far more advanced than this military base and after his soul fused with the previous owner, he already experienced everything in his head, so something like this wouldn't amaze him much.

Suddenly, he noticed something around his wrist. It looked similar to a digital watch but nothing was displaying on the screen. And fortunately, his ring was still with him.

"That there on your wrist is your lifeline. It will identify you as a student at this military base. It will allow you to access certain areas, pay for food, and all sorts. It is your lifeline at this academy."

"But that's not all, your ranking among all the students, your cultivation, and your ability level will also be shown there."

"And for those who haven't started cultivating or don't have an ability then only their, current physical strength will also be displayed here."

So if he showed that he has cultivation of 3-star Bronze rank then his rank would surely be not too low.

The military won't know that Jin Wei's cultivation talent was too low because, unlike normal humans who start their cultivation after 18, Vampires can cultivate from birth.

So in truth, Jin Wei became a 3-star Bronze rank in 18 years. And this speed is very slow compared to even some average humans.

Although he was an immortal, but still with this cultivation speed it would be a blessing if he could reach even gold rank let alone rank higher than that.

But so what, the military won't know all this and he would win in the end.
