Feeling

"Wow..."

An exotic device appeared on both of Peter's wrists. These were of a metallic red color in the form of a bracelet, along with a small mechanism on the palms of the hands.

Of course, Peter knew what they were. The iconic web shooters are practically indispensable for someone like Spider-Man. You could say that without them, Spider-man would not be the same.

Peter immediately made the artifacts in his inventory disappear quickly. After all, Peter wouldn't want someone to see something so supernatural about him. In addition to the fact that he was still in the middle of the street with other people around him.

Peter was excited. After all, this reward saved him a lot of time and effort which he needed right now. The truth is that Peter, with the intelligence inherited from his ancestor, basically he could design and create these web shooters with all his knowledge. However, the time and materials involved really gave Peter a headache. Just thinking about how much time and work it would take him to create the Shooters left him really helpless.

That's why receiving this necessary gift made Peter really happy. Also, these only said that it was level one. Perhaps higher level ones even have various kinds of practical functions for the future.

"¡…!"

'Am I being followed?'

Surprised, Peter was immediately alert and began to look with calculating eyes around him. Of course, he did all of this while Peter was still looking at his phone and walking normally without raising any suspicions.

Unfortunately for Peter, no matter how hard he tried to find the source or the suspicious person, he couldn't find anything at all.

'This is troublesome…'

Peter didn't know who or what it might be. Someone from outside, someone from the school, even someone from the police station. Each of the places Peter had passed through could harbor the source of this malicious intent.

'Hmm…'

[New incoming quest: Master the use of the store and system credits.]

"A store?"

Peter blinked a few times in surprise. He didn't know that the system would have something like a store. If that is so, then that could be really useful for the future.

'I wonder, what kind of things will they sell?'

'…Let's see'

Looking around him warily, Peter quietly whispered.

"Status…on"

Out of nowhere, a large holographic screen appeared floating in front of Peter.

'So it's true.'

Soon, Peter confirmed his doubt. Apparently only he could see the system interface because no one around him flinched or seemed to notice it. Although it was somewhat risky, it was worth knowing this 'little' fact. In fact, Peter for the future already had a few ideas to use against possible enemies of his, just thanks to this.

"It's so expensive!"

People looked strangely at the "beautiful" boy who shouted in the middle of the street.

Peter felt a little embarrassed for acting so carelessly, and soon headed over to a table in front of a small shop to sit down for some privacy.

Various items of all kinds were displayed in front of Peter in the system store. They ranged from weapons like swords, to medicines and items which he had no idea what they were.

However, with the newly earned 1000 credits from him, it was only enough for things that Peter has no use for and were not that useful to him.

"However, this is really convenient…"

As Peter mentally scrolled down the shop interface, he soon came to a rather…curious section.

"Wow...this is...flashy."

Peter found himself looking at numerous objects from what appeared to be different suits that Spider-Man had worn throughout his life, or in different universes.

It was all Spandex...

The classic reddish and blue suit that Peter remembered seeing in his childhood, with the cobweb markings deep and pronounced.

A black suit which seemed to be some kind of spy, or something similar.

A mostly bluish suit with fierce reddish linear markings around the eyes, and sharp bumps around the forearms.

'There really is a lot of variety...' Peter looked at all the costumes with a feeling of nostalgia and excitement. "Who would have thought there would be so many suits… (laugh) It reminds me of my childhood self…"

Peter kept sliding down as he watched everything dazedly with a longing look on his face.

'Perhaps... it wouldn't hurt to try.'

Peter didn't dislikethe idea of wearing one of these suits. Although for many adults it may seem embarrassing and silly, for Peter, who very possibly from now on would be involved in a lot of danger, it was quite good for him to use a means to hide his identity, and thus be able to keep Ben and May safe.

And while he could just wear something less flashy and childish, a part of Peter was excited by the idea that he could be like one of his childhood heroes. He can recover the happy and innocent experience of that time. Being able to live without worries...

And since Peter didn't care what people thought of him…why not?

"Hm?"

At that moment, suddenly an ordinary old man dressed in a gray trench coat and a top hat, calmly sat down on a seat next to Peter with a small friendly smile on his face.

"¡…!"

'… I did not feel it.'

Peter's eyes narrowed suspiciously as he glanced sideways at the old man.

The old man on the other hand, just sat calmly with that friendly smile still present on his face.

"I'm waiting."

The old man spoke slowly and in a low tone as if just talking cost him a lot of work. He then he slowly pulled out of his coat a small bag with…corn kernels?

"…What are you waiting for, old man?"

When Peter asked this question, Peter also relaxed in his seat while he played games on his phone.

He was curious… Even though he was surprised for a few moments as this old man was able to sit next to him without noticing, he wasn't worried at all. Reason? His intuition said so. It was his own feeling and experience that told him that this old man, although clearly not common, harbored no ill intentions towards him or any oppressive feelings.

He could also rule out the possibility that it was this old man who was watching him earlier for various reasons...

'Besides… what is this feeling?' Peter was lost in thought as he looked at the old man curiously. 'I feel like I've met him before... but where?'

*Laugh*

"The pigeons, young man." The older man just laughed happily as he answered Peter. "I'm waiting for my little friends."

As if they responded to his call. Dozens of beautiful pigeons flew bouncing their wings to the human pair with fervor.

Standing at Peter's feet, Peter was shocked.

'How beautiful…'

The old man for his part only proceeded to grab a handful of grains from the bag, and scattered them all over the ground.

The cheerful pigeons, excited by the delicious food, quickly pecked around the area looking for each one of the grains.

"Certainly very nice friends."

After a comfortable silence between Peter and the old man, the latter got up slowly as he adjusted his hat and approached Peter.

"Young man, please have this…"

"What?"

For no apparent reason, the old man took a beautiful golden artifact from his coat and handed it to Peter.

Peter was shocked and confused as to why the old man had suddenly decided to give him something.

And there he was. In the palm of his hand was a beautiful pocket watch with beautiful engravings on it. Immediately, holding him, Peter felt an uncomfortable sensation in his chest, and his blue eyes went unfocused as he stared dazedly at the clock.

"…This is…"

*Click*

The watch suddenly opened up revealing the beautiful inside of him. Roman numerals were shown giving a feeling of something valuable.

However… it was that beautiful melody coming from the clock that stunned him the most. The notes clearly resonated as if there was only Peter and the music in the world, ignoring everything around him.

Without realizing it, Peter was increasingly immersed in the melody while he seemed to disconnect with the world itself.

It was at that moment, that Peter's necklace appeared again on his neck as he gave off a subtle rainbow glow. Only this time, he did it in a wave like pulse towards Peter.

With a *click* sound, the clock suddenly closed, waking Peter up.

*Panting!*

"…W-what was that?"

Peter frantically looked around him with confusion on his face.

"… He disappeared."

Yes. The mysterious old man who was with Peter a few moments ago had disappeared... He didn't even know his name.

"…"

Shifting his gaze to the watch on his hand, Peter felt some suspicion and mystery.

"…This is getting more and more ridiculous."
