Annoying police

After riding in the patrol car for a few minutes, Peter finally arrived at the police station with the officer.

Once out of the patrol, Dominguez ordered.

"Follow me, this way."

With the officer entering the gates of the large police station, Peter would stop for a few moments outside of it to take a closer look at the building.

Peter just cast a wistful smile on his face.

"Just like old times..." Peter thought mockingly, then started to follow Dominguez.

From the beginning, a noisy and lively atmosphere could be observed inside the building, where all kinds of police officers could be seen working with dedication and excitement.

Peter even felt somewhat surprised at the sight. In truth, he always wanted to see good police work in his previous world. It didn't help that back then, the police were completely incompetent in every way.

Peter cast a small smile on his face that soon faded. Unfortunately for him, Dominguez was able to notice the change in his expression.

With a satisfied expression, Dominguez spoke.

"Not bad, huh?" Dominguez commented as he approached a large coffee vending machine. "The people here do their job with all their hearts. Each of them have stories and reasons to become part of the police. Some with more dark past, and others less. But somehow, they all come together to make every corner of this city a better place."

Dominguez took out a small cup of coffee, and headed towards his office with a look of pride on his face.

Even Peter didn't say anything rude about it, and prepared to follow the officer silently.

As Peter walked through the halls of the police station, several officers stopped at moments to watch Peter with curious eyes. Possibly wondering what someone so young and honest-looking was doing in this place.

The female police officers even looked with pity eyes at that young man who might have done something wrong...

"Is that boy…?"

At that moment, a beautiful woman approached Peter with fierce steps and a piercing gaze.

"Hm?" Peter just looked curiously at the woman who was suddenly approaching him.

"Detective Watanabe, do you need anything?" Dominguez asked.

The woman didn't answer, and she just started to approach Peter with seriousness in her eyes and…admiration?

Peter only took it upon himself to observe the woman with a neutral gaze.

"Are you the guy from the recording this morning?" Detective Watanabe asked directly.

Although Peter didn't know the reason for the question, he didn't find any harm in answering and said in a bored manner.

"If you mean where some idiots were causing trouble, and then for certain reasons they were... 'disciplined.' So yes, it's me."

Peter's bold response left the pair of policemen a bit perplexed, while the woman's gaze grew even more determined.

"In that case…"

And to everyone's surprise, the detective tilted her head at Peter and yelled.

"Please become my master!"

"…"

Several policemen who were observing the scene wanted to hit their heads. Even Dominguez was included.

These kinds of scenarios weren't too surprising. After all, the new recruit who quickly rose to detective was well known for her bold and forthright demeanor. In fact there was once a sergeant tried to woo her insistently, until Yuriko fed up with the situation, she once kicked the sergeant's little brother. Since that day, no one has dared to get on the bad side of this ferocious tyrannosaurus.

However, despite all that Yuriko was quite well liked in the branch. Her senior officers treated her like her daughter, and Yuriko along with her fierce but innocent demeanor, made her look like someone to protect.

That's why Yuriko's unreasonable request didn't surprise them too much. As expected of her...

"Woman, what did you just say?"

On the other hand, Peter was unhappy. Right now Peter was in a hurry and he just wanted to give his testimony quickly so he could go to Cindy and find out various things.

And now an unknown woman strangely asked him to be his disciple…or whatever that means. How not to be confused?

Seeing that she didn't express herself quite well, Yuriko coughed a few times in slight embarrassment and repeated.

"(cough, cough) M-my apologies." Yuriko settled back down and explained. "The truth is that since I saw your movements in the recording this morning, I felt deeply defeated. Of course, it also strengthened my resolve to be your disciple! If someone as young as you could take down an entire gang like kids, then doesn't that mean that if I learn from you, I'll become super powerful?!"

Yuriko jumped with excitement every time she spoke, and Peter on the other hand was totally exhausted...

"I see… apparently this woman wants me to be her martial arts teacher or something. What a stupid thing…"

"Oh! How could I forget it." Yuriko stood up properly and with a greeting she expressed. "My name is Watanabe Yuriko, Yuriko being my first name. I am 23 years old, and I was recently promoted to detective." The detective lifted her head proudly as she seemed to strut her stuff. "I know, I know… I really am a genius. I doubt anyone could rise through the ranks as quickly as I did in the entire NYPD."

"…"

Peter just fell silent with an expression as if to say. 'Is that so?' Though completely untrue of course.

As expected, Yuriko interpreted Peter's expression as if he was astonished, and soon a satisfied expression appeared on her.

"Yes! And that's why I want you to be my teacher. Hell, I could swear even the martial arts they teach at the NYPD aren't as terrifying as yours. I mean, you swept the ground with those guys… You even dodged a bullet! Though I don't know how that's possible in the first place…"

Yuriko each time seemed to get lost in her own world happily, while Peter just ignored her and asked Dominguez.

"Can we go take my testimony now?"

"Uhm…"

Although Dominguez looked somewhat uncomfortable due to Watanabe's surprised expression, he decided to just sigh and do his job once and for all.

"It's okay, Peter. Follow me to my office."

And with that Peter finally left, leaving a shocked Yuriko alone.

"Stop right there!"

The detective's loud and ferocious roar echoed throughout the building. Some who were away wondering who could have been the idiot who offended the department's beloved tyrannosaurus.

*Sigh*

Peter already tired of all this, decided to turn around to respond in an annoyed way to the woman.

"My words are simple. I won't be your teacher or anything. I already have enough things to deal with on my own, and I don't have time for that kind of thing."

Yuriko was initially happy to see that Peter had turned around, but after hearing his words, a feeling of disappointment and disbelief washed over her.

"Why?!"

Peter just looked weird. He literally just told her her reasons and this girl didn't seem to understand. As if it was strange that someone refused a request of her.

"What do you mean 'why'? I already told you, I don't have time for that kind of thing and I'm really in a hurry right now."

"…"

Thinking that he had finally given up, Peter was relieved by the woman's silence. Unfortunately for Peter, Yuriko wasn't going to give up and waste an opportunity to be better. Surely if she became stronger and solved many more cases, she would be promoted by her efforts and would soon be a worthy policeman like her father.

Her late father...

"Peter Parker!"

With a loud cry, Yuriko pointed her finger at Peter as she declared with determination.

"I challenge you to a duel!"

Forget it, Peter felt that his head was starting to hurt.

"…Ugh~"

"The captain is not going to like this…"

"Bah! Who cares? The captain is always lenient with our tyrannosaurus. Surely nothing will happen."

"Oh, that's true."

The surrounding policemen were already beginning to treat this as a show and were beginning to look at both of them curiously. Even Dominguez stepped aside...

With a tired look, Peter decided to get this over with.

'Fuck it…'

"Very well woman, I accept your challenge." Peter moved closer to Yuriko until he was only a meter away from her. "I only ask that if I win, you will not insist again and leave me alone."

"I agree! And if I win, you teach me all your secrets and moves. Even that thing you did to dodge the bullet."

Yuriko looked smug as if it was obvious that she would win. In some strange way, she possibly didn't take into account that Peter had taken down an entire gang with his bare hands, something even she couldn't do. She really is a knucklehead...

"I have no objections." Peter responded with a shrug. "And good? How do you want to do this?"

Yuriko looked thoughtful for a few moments before replying.

"Whoever manages to pin the other to the ground, he will be the winner. Except for weapons, everything else is allowed in during combat."

Peter only responded with a nod and calmly stood up in a fighting stance. After all, this woman was different from those criminals. The woman possibly has a very good physical training and therefore Peter was not going to underestimate her.

Underestimating someone even several folds weaker than you in strength is naive and foolish. And Peter never would. It's something he learned from the old world of him the hard way...

Seeing that Peter was ready, Yuriko positioned herself with an excited smile before calling out.

"Ready…GO!"

And with that Yuriko quickly pounced on Peter...
