Chapter 15

I bend my legs and catapult myself seven meters away where I breakout into a full sprint through the forest.

My movements are fast and smooth as I swiftly build up distance between me and the thing.

I already know that it is faster than me, so I switch my strategy a little and start to catch some of the smaller birds on the way.

Then I create a connection to the little bird like I did with the rats in the sewage and feed it some of my mana to prepare the chemical bomb that the little bird has become.

The thing is already closing the distance between us, so I let go of the bird and he starts flying straight at the dangerous creature.

Through the senses of the bird I notice that the thing is ignoring the little bird and didn't intend to evade him.

I smirk in my mind and make a forward roll just as the bird reaches the thing.

Halfway through my roll I got a boost from the shockwave of the explosion behind me and manage to increase the distance once more.

With my antennas I confirm the effectiveness of the explosion as I catch glimpse of a half-charred figure inside the smoke.

A relived sigh escapes my throat as I dart through the bushes and trees with new vigor.

Soon I hear a strangely low growl coming from the direction of the thing and a cold shiver runs down my spine.

I don't hesitate anymore and release all the prepared bomb birds.

Some fly again directly at the creature while some others are landing and hiding somewhere between me and the thing so that they can ambush it.

Then they blow up, one after another.

I barely manage to jump out of the way as a white beam blasts through my previous location and shreds everything in its way.

With cold sweat running down my back I turn my head to the source of the blast.

There I see a half-charred, once white furred, sharp eared creature of the size of a big cat.

That blast that impacted beside me has almost three times the power of the lightning that hit me on my escape from the city.

The creature slowly starts making its way to me as if it expects that I won't try to flee again or try anything else.

It isn't completely wrong because I can't escape anymore, as soon as I looked at the creature, I felt that something invaded my body through my eyes and cut of any attempt to escape.

My mind spins at high speed to find a way to overcome this crisis.

The transformation is not useful as any change to my body will still be controlled by the thing.

Tail and burning liquid are also out of question as the also need control over the body, which I don't have at the moment.

The resistance and regeneration of my present body are top notch, but I don't know how many ways this thing has to kill me.

So, the last two options would be the direct attack through the energy that I have stored or to try and fight it mentally.

Sadly, I don't know how to do mental attacks, so the former is it.

I grab some of the eager energy in my body and form it into a ball, ready to be transported to any place inside my body.

The thing finally stands before me and looks at me with anger and mockery, then suddenly my legs give away and I crash face first into the dirt before the paws of the thing.

Know standing above me, the thing starts to look down and slowly a expression of sadistic glee starts to appear on its face.

A small paw pushes down on my snout and slowly gets stronger till a loud cracking sound came from it.

I notice that the foreign control over my body slightly weakens for a shot moment and decide to use this chance.

The ball of energy inside my body suddenly moves up my chest, through my throat and down my snout to the location of the paw that touches my skull.

The expression of the thing abruptly changes as it squeaks in pain and jumps back to retract its paw from my skull.

The part of the paw that touched my skull seems to melt of and evaporate once it dripped of.

With the squeak of pain from the thing, its control also vanished, I immediately bring my legs under my body to prepare a jump at the thing.

And so, I did, with a powerful push of my legs I throw myself before the creature and open my maw to devour it whole.

The thing distracted by the sudden pain only noticed me when it was seemingly too late.

Sadly, I underestimated it again as it creates a small explosion with its white energy to redirect its fall to the left and evade my bite.

I reach out with my clawed hand in an attempt to grab it before it can touch the ground but the hand changed direction and missed it.
