1 Chapter 1

My name is Kaiser. A reincarnator. I was reborn after my death and I have the same name as I was in my previous life.

In my past life, I lived a rough life and became a gangster. Using two knives in a fight, I became quite notorious in the underworld.

But being a gangster means that I will always have my life on the line. Whether it's during my job or during my daily life. And I ended up being assassinated in my house right when I was about to sleep.

No, in this world, Hero is not someone who helps people. It's just an occupation. Something that will get you paid.

Hero is someone who has the permission to clear dungeons, fight monsters, and use their superhuman ability in public. That's what a Hero is.

That is not the common sense of this world though. For the people of this world, Heroes are, well, heroes. Just as the name suggests, they are people who fight to protect other people. But I don't believe that after experiencing this life for eighteen years.

I can tell that Heroes that I've seen on TV or directly in front of me only do those things for money. They did it for living.

And of course since I have lived for eighteen years in this world, I asked some people I got to know about Heroes. And it was a deep shithole that most people can't get out of. Especially if you're a young Hero. You can easily get exploited by someone else.

I made a lot of friends. But none of them are people my age. Most of them are older people.

Some street thugs, adult workers, and most of all, homeless people.

Similar to my previous world, the homeless people here went through a lot of stuff before they decided to beg for money. And some of them are even former Heroes. And I heard a lot of things from them.

They also have great wide-range of information and connection. If this is a murim novel, you can say that they are from the Beggar sect.

Anyway, thanks to those people, I learned a lot. And I can hide my skill and knowledge by saying that I learned it from them. So if someone is suspicious about how good I am, I can say that some homeless people who taught me those skills.

Why am I so wary of everything? Well, this is usual though. It's just that I do it even more thoroughly than in my past life because I have family in this life.

I remember everything since I was born in this world. My family who loves me very much. And then one year after I was born, I became a big brother. I have a younger sister.

With how much I know about the underworld, I know that no matter how safe it seems form the outside, danger can come out of nowhere. So I have to be able to protect my family. Even if I might look like I'm just being paranoid.

The good thing is that there are powers that can help me with that. Powers that I hope to get.

Classes exist in this world. Not classes for school or lessons. But classes like… how do I say it? A job perhaps?

Anyway, it's a class that defines your ability. There are only two classes. Warrior and magician.

Warriors are people who got superhuman ability that allows them to have much better physical ability than ordinary people. That's the easiest way to explain it.

And magicians are people who can use magic. I like to explain things simply. So that's how I define them for now. Further explanation will be explained later when I need to.

Magic and physical strength. They are useful when fighting against monsters or clearing Dungeons.

There are firearms in this world. And some monsters can still be defeated even by a single gunshot. But not all. Most monsters can't be defeated even when a missile is shot at their head directly.

But magicians and warriors have powers beyond common sense. Powers that allow them to defeat strong monsters and protect the world.

That's also why they call people who fight monsters and clear Dungeons as Heroes. Because it's their duty. It's supposed to be their duty.

Though as I said before, it's more like for advertising purpose. What kid doesn't want to be a Hero in the future?

When I checked it, before they called that job as Hero, there were not many of them before. Once the job changed name into Hero, more people decided to join. Most of them are younger generation.

I don't care about being a Hero. I just want the license to use my power however I want. And I'm also interested in exploring Dungeons and fighting monsters to get rich.

But to be honest, I want to fight warriors and superhumans.

Back when I was a gangster, I always enjoyed it when I was fighting. Because for me, it's not just fighting. It's also me utilizing everything I learned to kill someone.

I have realized the fact about myself that I love to use skills and knowledge that I have learned in a real life situation.

…Wait, isn't this personality the most troubling one if I want to protect my family? Then it will be me who brings danger into my family instead of repelling them.

I do want to protect my family. But I also want to fight. I also want to kill. Because then I can use everything I have learned from this world and from my previous world in a fight.

Damn, I'm so contradicting myself. I feel like I will bring a lot of trouble for my family.

Well, I just hope that I also have the power to protect my family from the troubles I bring.

I am now a third-year high school student. In a few months, I will graduate. And in a few days, I can finally take the test to find my suitable class.

For 18 years old people or those who are already just a few months away from graduating, one can be tested to see if they will awaken any class they are suitable at. They could be warriors or magicians. Or they will be unfortunate and can't awaken any of the classes.

Before that, we are just ordinary people. But once we awaken, we won't be ordinary people anymore. We will be superhumans.

Only superhumans can attend Hero Academies to be Heroes in the future. So I really wish that I will get a class.

As a former gangster who fought and kill with knives, I hope that I can awaken as a warrior. But as an otaku as well, I wish for magic. I really wish I can get any of the two.

I have trained my body to be as good as in my past life even without classes. So even if I become a magician, I can still fight close combat. Though I won't be as good as a high level warrior. But it should be enough to face weaker ones until I can cast my magic.

And if I awaken my warrior class, then it will suit me more since I fought a lot with my body in my past life. I have a lot of experience and skills. I am confident that I will be really strong.

But if I fail to become either of them, then I have no choice but to pursue other career path. It's a shame, but it means that I won't be able to protect my family if there's any danger in the future. So I just hope that there will never be any danger befalls my family if I can't get any class.

Though that will be for later. I still wish to awaken as superhuman.
