As the morning sun rose, Kaito woke up.

"Good morning, Chiri-sama," he said, crawling out of his tent and rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning, Kaito. Come eat something," Chiri was warming up some rice balls by the fire.

"Thank you, Chiri-sama." Kaito walked over, picked up a rice ball, and started eating.

"You're welcome," Chiri replied with a gentle smile, then stood up to start packing up the tent.

"Good morning, Izuna-san," Kaito said after finishing his rice ball, heading to a nearby stream to wash up.

"Mm," Izuna-san, sitting on a rock by the stream, nodded.

"What are you thinking about, Izuna-san?" Kaito asked curiously after shaking the water off his hands.

"I'm thinking about whether we should take back brother's Rinnegan," Izuna-san remarked surprisingly.

"Eh?" Kaito was a bit shocked. "Take it back now?"

"I know your plan," Izuna-san said with a smirk. "You want to use those from Akatsuki to resurrect Kaguya, then defeat her."

"That's my plan," Kaito confirmed. "Because even if we prevent Kaguya's resurrection prematurely, I can't be at ease, especially since that Black Zetsu is very good at hiding and would leave endless troubles."

"And I have even greater ambitions," he said with determination. "Those goals must be accomplished by completely killing Kaguya."

"So you don't care about how many people will die in the process," Izuna-san stood up, placing a hand on Kaito's shoulder, and looked him in the eye coldly. "You seem so gentle usually, and even your retaliation against Konoha was measured, but you're actually quite indifferent."

Kaito smiled gently: "Heh, don't say that, Izuna-san."

"I've observed the fate of this world through stellar movements for a long time. Those sacrifices are destined," he looked up at the sky, his voice devoid of emotion. "I'm just a weak being trying to break free from fate, with no obligation to save everyone."

"And..." Kaito whispered something in Izuna-san's ear.

"Ha ha ha ha..." Izuna-san burst out laughing, patting Kaito on the shoulder, "I'm growing to appreciate you more and more, Kaito. Let me see how far you can go."

"Ah." A near-arrogant confidence appeared on Kaito's face, "Then please watch closely, Izuna-san."

Kaito knew Izuna-san was testing him, but he chose to speak the truth.

Because he realized that despite Izuna-san's gentle appearance, his heart was much colder compared to his brother, who seemed much more ferocious.

Madara did have a gentle side, or he wouldn't have spent his lifetime seeking peace.

Compared to Madara, Izuna-san was more a typical ninja.

He didn't care about dreams or whether the world was at war or peace; he was only interested in tangible benefits.

And if Kaito's plan succeeded, the entire Uchiha clan would gain immense benefits, which was enough to gain Izuna-san's full support.

At dawn, the two Uchiha men from different generations reached a complete understanding and smiled at each other as they walked back to the camp.

Just then, Gurē, who had been out foraging, finally flew back. They packed up their belongings and continued towards the Land of Rice Fields.

...

"Caw!"

The call of a crow sounded.

Just before noon, the enemy they had been waiting for finally appeared.

"Caw! Caw!"

It was a strange crow, about the size of Gurē, with a long, sharp beak adorned with noticeable barbs, and it had four feet and wings. On its back stood six figures clad in black robes with red clouds, rapidly ascending towards them.

"Is that Pain's Six Paths?" Izuna-san turned to look behind Gurē.

Kaito patted Gurē's feathers and instructed softly, "Gurē, speed up and lead them to the place I told you about yesterday."

"Gurē-Gurē-Gurē…"

Gurē let out excited calls, his broad wings stirring up the clouds. His speed suddenly increased several times, quickly gaining distance from the pursuing crow.

Swoosh!

A whooshing sound was heard. Kaito quickly looked back, only to see a metallic cylindrical object with a tail flame being launched from one of the figures of Pain's Six Paths, chasing rapidly towards Gurē.

"It's a tracking missile!"

"I've got this!"

Izuna-san jumped to Gurē's tail, activated his Sharingan, and formed hand seals.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

A massive fireball erupted from his mouth, accurately intercepting the missile.

Boom!

The fireball and missile collided mid-air, causing a violent explosion that dyed half of the sky with flames.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh…

More whooshing sounds followed, and several smaller missiles skirted around the explosion area, converging towards Gurē's position.

"Gurē!!!"

Gurē sensed the danger and began to attempt changing his flight direction.

"Don't worry, just head straight to our destination, leave the rest to us," Kaito reassured. "I won't let you get hurt."

"Alright Gurē, but if I get hurt, I won't be helping you anymore," Gurē complained humorously.

Facing the numerous missiles, Izuna-san at the tail unleashed the widest range of his Fire Release techniques.

"Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation!"

An endless stream of flames burst from his mouth, turning into a sea of fire behind Gurē, successfully detonating all the missiles.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom…

Explosions continuously sounded in the air, the intense light and rising smoke completely obstructing the view of both parties.

"We're almost there," Kaito said, looking ahead to a vast wilderness, "prepare to land."

"Shinra Tensei!"

A cold voice echoed from afar, and an invisible force instantly dispersed all the fire and smoke.

"Caw!"

The four-footed crow, studded with black rods, also sped up, quickly closing the distance between them.

"Bansho Ten'in!"

The figure of Pain at the forefront extended his hand, a massive gravitational pull was applied to Kaito and the others, pulling them towards the direction of the four-footed crow.

"Gurē! Shrink!" Kaito shouted, forming hand seals.

"Gurē!!!"

Gurē obediently shrank his size, fluttering his wings and taking cover behind Kaito.

Kaito's spiritual power erupted, chains formed from this power shot out, pulling both Izuna-san and Chiri-sama to his side.

"Guard!"

Several talismans flew from his body, encircling the trio and the bird in the air, instantly forming a spherical barrier around them.

Bang!

Under the force of the gravitational pull, the barrier heavily collided with the sharp beak of the four-footed crow, making a loud noise, then bouncing away.
