Chapter 17: Hungry Rainicorns

A person runs desperately through the forest

he is gasping for breath and his body is trembling visibly

he looks really terrified

The person kept desperately fleeing from his pursuer

He stopped his movement when he saw a large oak tree blocking the path.

he was about to jump it, but stopped when he saw the hollow interior of the tree

The person seemed to be thinking, keep running or hide in the tree?

His doubts were cleared by hearing the sound of leaves being stepped on in the dark interior of the forest.

He no longer doubts and hid inside the tree, hoping that his pursuer would not notice him and continue on his way.

A few seconds later a series of footsteps were heard a few meters from the fallen tree and they stopped right in front of the hollow tree.

The person hidden inside the tree held his breath so as not to make any noise.

Slowly the footsteps approached the tree on the road and stopped in front of him.

All that separated the person and the pursuer from him was a thin layer of wood.

Just when the person thought that he was going to be discovered, the footsteps were heard on the trunk and then they moved away little by little.

The person inside the tree released his breath and sighed in relief, it seems that he lost it

"You know, it was a good idea to hide, the one that wasn't a good idea was to hide in the most obvious place in the environment."

These were the last words the person heard before feeling a stabbing pain in his chest and falling into darkness.

Pov: Blanche

Pulling my stake out from inside the hollow tree, I couldn't help but laugh a little at the silly vampire who hid in the middle of the road.

It has been a month since my alliance with Tom, I have returned to the routine of hunting vampires, the few that still go hunting

Today I met one who tried to attack a neighboring tribe, the idiot sure thought that after my battle with the empress I would need time to recover

I arrived before he could suck someone's blood, he seemed surprised and horrified by my presence

I recognized them easily, they were the rainicorns

The second was another rainicorn with the rabbit girl in her mouth, trying to chew off her head, it seems that her hat prevented the rainicorn from sinking its teeth into her

Rainicorns could fly, become temporarily intangible, and shoot lightning that paints things in colors.

Their offensive power wasn't much, but they were hard to catch, I have to do this before they can react

I slid at high speed towards the rainicorn that was trying to chew the girl

I approached the rainicorn who looked confused

It is understandable, I made him believe that he lost his powers

One, they can't understand our language, maybe that's why they see us as animals, just like Korean doesn't seem to make sense to someone who doesn't speak it.

And two, not all rainicorns have interesting names (no offense to the Erics).

["Your friend was about to eat a girl of my kind, so I killed him, now tell me how many more came or you'll end up just like him]

I like to talk like a movie villain

but my threat seemed to work

[I....it was just the two of us, we heard that there were very tasty animals in this dimension, so we opened a portal and then found them here, that's all]

The vague sound of an ax cutting through something solid can be heard alongside a woman's grunts of effort.

The noises were from a young woman who was chopping wood in front of a makeshift shelter

It seems that she is almost finished, she only had one last log left

The young woman placed the last log in her place and prepared her axe-guitar, while she remembered the day she learned to cut wood.

An angry growl came from the young woman and her grip on her ax tightened.

The young woman raised the ax and dropped it, splitting the trunk cleanly in half.

Placing the ax on the ground, the young woman sat on a piece of log and took something out of her pocket.

It was a colorless drawing of a young man in a suit, with a trench coat and round glasses.

The woman looked at the drawing for a few moments before squeezing it in anger and putting it in her pocket.

"We'll meet again soon...Blanchie"
