16 Chapter 15: Making history

It was a dark night, the atmosphere was cold and thick fog covered almost all the space inside a silent forest.

The only light visible within the forest came from a strange luxurious mansion in the center of it.

A strange place to build a mansion

Entering the mansion we can see quite a few humans, they move like puppets and seem to be working as servants

The only person who didn't look like a puppet was sitting at a big fancy table, full of red things and had a glass in his hand full of what appeared to be blood.

She was a tall woman, with a grayish skin color, along with long ears and her mouth had a pair of long fangs.

She had on a long black dress with a gold snake wrapped around her waist and neck.

She wore a kind of dark purple bandana over her eyes, with a pink gem in the center.

This woman was a vampire and a member of the vampire king's court.

POV: The Empress

Mmmmm, nothing better than fresh blood on a quiet night after going back out into the world after hundreds of years

It's been a year since our return, we are finally terrorizing the weak humans like in the old days

Their damn technology was too advanced and we couldn't afford to hunt without being discovered.

So we hide and survive eating tasteless red stuff for years, waiting for the opportunity to resurface.

And that opportunity came 8 years ago, with the fall of that wonderful bomb, we look forward to that moment

But we couldn't come out of hiding because of some damn weird noxious substance in the air.

Even if we came out of hiding we couldn't feed on humans, those cockroaches were hidden in their steel boxes called bunkers

Thanks to GOLB they started coming out two years ago, and that strange substance was no longer a problem for us

We start feeding again and terrorizing the settlements made up of those weak humans

Without their technology they were vulnerable prey, it was a pleasure to kill several and control the others

Just remembering it, a smile appears on my face

I've even been told about a strange, half-crazy human with ice powers, who seems to wander aimlessly through cities.

I'm planning to pay him a visit, who knows? Maybe I'll get another fun toy

But my smile is soon erased by the memory of a problem that has been bothering our entire species for an entire year.

Appeared shortly after our revival

All vampires call him that because they think he was sent by death itself, he is an individual who strikes terror into the vampire population.

surely you wonder, what would cause terror in an immortal creature like a vampire?

The answer to that is simple

Death

Something we forgot about a long time ago

The reaper appears wherever a vampire causes a disturbance and kills them and all nearby vampires.

He always leaves only one survivor, to tell the story and spread terror throughout our kind.

According to each survivor of his attacks, the harvester wears a night-black trench coat over a white shirt with a blood-red vest, along with elegant black pants and boots.

His hair and face are covered by the hood of his trench coat and his eyes look like crystals that always reflect the moonlight.

The only times he has been heard to speak is to complain that his nickname is too 'cliche' in a very young voice.

Another curious fact is that he seems to be very short, almost like a teenager, that added to his voice makes us believe that he may be a human teenager, but we do not have enough information, another theory on the book I guess

Those useless cowards, getting scared by a single individual

I can't blame them too much though, they're not like us, the vampire king's court, we can't be killed for nothing after all

The only reason we haven't killed this threat is because he disappears after finishing killing the vampires in the area and we've never been able to find him after his attacks.

But that doesn't matter, it's just a matter of time, I wonder if he will be as interesting a toy as the ice man I'm planning to meet.

The Empress left her cup full of blood on the table and shouted towards the entrance of the mansion.

"Hey stupid human! Where did you say that ice freak was? I think I'll go look for him now"

The Empress did not receive any response, in fact... she noticed that everything was too quiet

The sounds of people working were no longer heard, nor the constant footsteps of servants moving

The air in the room was several degrees cold and the exit door next to the windows seemed to have some frost on them.

The Empress noticed this situation, but she didn't seem scared at all, in fact she almost seemed amused.

"Wow~, and to think that the famous Reaper would meet me personally, that's quite an honor."

A shadow fell from the ceiling right in front of the empress, he was shorter than the empress and he himself wore the suit described by the survivors along with round blue glasses that reflected the moonlight

"Well, I thought it would be impolite not to visit one of the leaders of a race that I am going to extinguish"

"My name is Blanche, it's a pleasure"

A surprisingly young and relaxed voice came out of the hood, it seems that he is a teenager

"It took me a while to find this place, but I'm finally here Empress"

"Extinguish us? Do you want to alter the natural order of the world? Little human, besides, all of us in the court are true immortals, not like those weak vampires you have faced before"

"Yes, I know, I know all his abilities, including yours and I will not be the one to kill you, I will only temporarily incapacitate you until I meet your killer"

"You said all of our abilities, as a mere human..."

"Although I would like to continue chatting, I don't have all night and I really want to take a break, so I'll just kill you quickly"

Several spikes of ice grew in an instant below the Empress trying to impale her

The vampire reacted quickly and stepped back to dodge the unexpected attack without much effort.

She was a vampire after all and had a superhuman physical condition.

"Whoa~ let's not rush little one, how about we talk a little face to face? Let me see your eyes for a moment will you?"

"I already said I don't want to chat anymore, and I already know your hypnotic ability so don't bother trying"

"Ah~ it's a shame, I really wanted to see your terrified look under those glasses"

The Empress was gone in an instant, vanishing into thin air, almost as if she had been an illusion.

Blanche looked alert in all directions, it seems that he could not see her

"Where are you!? Show yourself! I know you're still here!"

The teenager seemed to be panicking at his enemy's unknown ability.

"Come on! Show yourself stupid vamp...!"

The teenager could not finish his words because a thin arm pierced his chest

The Empress slowly became visible behind Blanche.

"Really? That's all? I must say you were disappointing boy"

"Yes... I say the same"

The teenager's voice sounded right behind her.

"What!, but I.."

The Empress looked at the 'body' that she had put her arm through, the body began to crumble into snowflakes that surrounded her and gradually froze her body, preventing her from moving.

"Yes....it must be quite confusing for you"

"Let me give you a little explanation, you are next to the fool, the weakest vampire in the court, I could easily tear you to pieces with a spell or freeze you, but I was worried about the controlled people in the mansion"

"So I had to kill you without powers or powerful magic, that left melee as the easiest option."

"But I'm still 14 years old and I'm not as strong as a vampire, I'm very agile and I could even see you even if you were invisible" (haki)

"The only problem was to catch you, but it was simple, I just created a snow clone that would fight you and when receiving a fatal blow it would freeze you"

"I would like to ask you your last words, but my clone wasn't lying when he said he wanted a break, so bye"

The hooded teenager pulled a wooden stake from inside his trench coat and drove it through the frozen vampire's heart.

The vampire's body turned into bright dust particles in the air, that dust is the essence of the Empress.

Normally this powder would reform into a new body after a while.

But the teenager came prepared

He quickly took out a glass vial from his trench coat and cast a spell in an unknown language.

A force of attraction quickly attracted the essence and enclosed it in the glass vial.

Finally, the teenager closed the vial with a cork that had a strange symbol engraved on it.

"Fiuu, what a night, it's good that I arrived before they controlled dad"

Hello, surely you have many questions, how did I get here? Why the nickname and why the cliche clothes?

Well here is a summary

After separating from Marcy I concentrated on my travels and my training

I spent a whole year visiting dangerous or uninhabited locations to better train my skills

Shortly after my 12th birthday the radiation levels in the air were no longer as high as they were 6 years ago, so the remaining humans began to come out of their bunkers.

Soon the disputes for power began between all the groups of surviving humans, something typical but understandable

Thus, several communities were formed that formed a kind of mini-society over the course of a year.

By the time I was 13 years old, I had already had contact with several human communities, I became a part-time trader

As I trained, I collected useful things for the settlements and then sold them throughout the settlements.

Of course there were many people who wanted to rob the helpless 13-year-old picker boy

That left several people, with several broken bones.

I guess my reputation grew because of that incident

Start receiving hunting and protection requests for other merchants

I did pretty well for a while

Humanity seemed to be slowly rebuilding society

But then it happened

While on a collecting and hunting trip

The vampires returned to the world

The humans did not know of the existence of the supernatural world, which left them defenseless against the sudden attack of the vampires.

The large settlements were destroyed or controlled in a few days

And so mankind went back to square one again

By the time I got back it was too late

Obviously I didn't want the few remaining humans to go extinct, so I armed myself with a stake I charmed and saved as many humans as I could, but there weren't many left.

I knew that if the vampires continued to hunt humanity, it would become extinct sooner or later.

So I began my hunt, made new clothes that I permanently enchanted, and set out to kill as many vampires as I could.

Of course I did not forget the psychological war, so I always left one alive to tell the story and spread fear, forcing the vampires to stay in their hiding places

I spent my time hunting vampires, I killed hundreds of them, they even gave me a stupid nickname like

'the reaper', those damn vampires have no creativity

Although my clothes are a cliche for a vampire hunter, I can't deny that I look great

As I continued to hunt, I got closer to the court of the vampire king, a court that would be eliminated by Marcy in the future.

I didn't want Marcy to face vampires, but I know Hunson won't be able to stop her forever, but it's enough for her to live her entire adolescence in peace and security.

The only thing that wasn't made very clear in the original story was how hard it is to find those bastards while they're alone.

The only way I have to attract them is to kill a large number of vampires, but I always get exhausted after killing so many and that would leave me vulnerable

So I had to find their hiding places and kill them in a 1v1 fight, they weren't that powerful individually, but together they would be a problem.

So I kept hunting and hunting more until I was 14 years old, I finally found the location of the vampire who was at the top of my list of murders, The Empress

That damn wanted to control Simon and turn him into her little toy

So I traveled to her mansion in the woods and well... you saw what happened.

I kept the vial with the essence of the Empress (a gift for Marcy) and went outside where all the humans who were being controlled by the vampire were,

It seems that the mind control went away after I killed her and everyone left the mansion confused

*cough* I cleared my throat to get the attention of the group of humans, it seems that it worked because they all turned to see me

"Hello, surely you are confused about where you are and how you got here, the simple explanation is that a vampire controlled you after destroying the settlement you lived in"

"My name is Blanche Petrikov, I am something like an adventurer and vampire hunter, I took care of the vampire, now you're free"

"Although there are no longer any large settlements, there are still various groups of humans scattered throughout OOO that will surely welcome you, now any questions?"

A middle-aged man raised his hand after hesitating for a few seconds.

"Yeah...thanks for saving us from that vampire, but...what is OOO?"

A/N: ok we had a time skip of 3 years and our MC is already a vampire hunter with his cliche nickname and all, what a joy

And oh surprise, it seems that our MC was the creator of the name of OOO
