The Power and Knowledge

Unlike other species, I wasn't born through intercourse. I don't have parents, or a family to call with. I just one day, got conscious and found myself in the middle of the universe.

In the beginning, I was nothing but a spark of light but as time went by; I slowly attained power and became the lord of the universe.

A lord without a believer, just like a king with no kingdom and knights.

As I gained more power, my body slowly evolved from the like of a spark into a figure with four limbs and a head, but still, composed of light.

Regardless of how I evolved, no one can tell how lonely I am. For thousands, if not millions of years, I am alone in this unending darkness.

But at this moment, something popped out in front of me.

A blue, mist-like screen, with some words the first time I have ever seen, but for some reason, I can comprehend.

I got astonished at first, but then...

Oh, Lord of the Unending Darkness, don't you feel lonely without anyone to fight or interact with?

I can help you, in exchange for your power

Eh?...

This was the first time I felt something uncomfortable; my heart seemed boiling and my teeth gnashed with each other.

I am annoyed!

"Who are you to ask for my power!?"

This was the first time I ever spoke. My voice was calm, but it echoed around the vicinity and caused huge shock waves, destroying everything within a mile; the rude screen included.

This destruction doesn't matter to me. I am the lord of this place and everything is mine. Destroying what's mine isn't something to find a fault.

But as I thought, the screen once again appeared. It's persistent.

Do not be mistaken my Lord, I am not asking for your power to rip you off. It is not just for my profit, either.

I am confused but after reading the explanation, I felt a little relieved. I don't trust its words, but there was something within me, saying that I have to believe it.

"Then, explain yourself!"

I am a system, just like you, born from nothing.

We have similarities actually; without anyone to interact with, after millions of years, I am finally tired of this lonely place.

"Then, what are you going to do with my power"

Although we started in the same way, different from you, I gained no power. Not because I don't, but because I can't. I am a parasite who can only live if I have someone to rely on. I have been searching for a suitable host for a long time and that's how I found you.

Maybe because of pity or sympathy, after hearing that we were both born in this unending darkness, or maybe because it was the first time I ever met someone, its words hit differently. I can't deny or find more fault in its words.

The system, whatever it called itself, turned silent for a while. Maybe pondering about its lonely memories but before I could open my mouth, it continued further.

That's why I need to borrow your power to destroy the law that is keeping us from leaving. If we succeed we can escape from this place, but if we fail, we might DIE!

My lips broke into a smile, for the system to pin the word Die; as if it's bad.

The worst case that I could think, that is to once again spend my time alone.

To die is better than living in this place.

Sigh* Even I, myself, don't know how many times I had tried killing myself but to no avail.

" Listening to your explanation, I don't know how or what you'll do, this law or whatever. As long as you can help me leave this place, I am willing to cooperate. I'll trust you but just this once"

I made sure to warn him not to try something funny. Not to mention, he has no power to oppose me, I'll gladly silence it if it wanted to.

By lending me your strength, combined with my knowledge, we can break the law that is preventing us from breaking off.

A law, the ancient has created to prevent us from wandering and creating havoc as we are known to be best at; in the end, there is no perfect creation.
