Chapter 4: Unveiling the Gamer System

The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Peter's room. The events of the past night lingered in his mind, a tapestry of confusion and wonder. His eyes fixed on the holographic notification hanging in the air. The Gamer system, confirming that yesterday was not a dream.

...

(Back to Peter in the abandoned subway tunnel) Peter hesitated for a moment, his eyes fixated on the ethereal glow of the Gamer system's notification. The weight of uncertainty hung in the air, the possibilities unfolding like a web waiting to be spun. After a deep breath that seemed to echo off the walls, Peter decided to take the plunge. He raised his hand, touching the notification that had become the gateway to a new reality.

The moment he made contact, the notification expanded, morphing into a holographic interface that enveloped him. Tabs and options materialized before his eyes, like a virtual realm begging to be explored.

With a cautious yet determined spirit, Peter navigated through the uncharted territories of the system. His fingers danced in the air as he swiped through the holographic tabs: Status, Skills, Inventory. The Status tab displayed his new identity.

{Gamer's Constitution}

Peter's eyes widened as the holographic interface revealed the intricate details of his new existence. The numbers, symbols, and categories displayed before him encapsulated the essence of his enhanced self. His fingers hovered over the holographic projection, almost hesitating to believe the statistics presented.

"Strength 30, Agility 20, Dexterity 20, Constitution 18," Peter muttered to himself, each word carrying the weight of his newfound capabilities. He marveled at the superhuman strength bestowed upon him, imagining the feats he could now achieve. The memories of laying weak in a hospital bed as Jake, and memories of Peter being thrown around growing up due to his lanky and weak body, now seem only a distant echo.

"Intelligence 40," Peter's voice quivered with a mix of awe and disbelief. The number resonated with the amazing intelligence that Peter Parker inherited from his parents. The ceiling of his intellectual capacity had shattered, now with the potential to grow even further beyond.

"Wisdom 5, Charisma 4 and only 2 Luck" Peter's elation waned as he noticed the contrasting numbers. Seeing these numbers, Peter realizes that the average stats for a human must hover between 2-5. Somewhat disappointed, yet unsurprised as neither Jake nor Pete were ever that wise due to still being young and inexperienced, nor charismatic due to Jake's isolation, and Peter's awkwardness. When it comes to luck, it goes without saying both Jake and Peter were dealt the short end of that stick in life, Jake growing up with an incurable disease, eventually taking said life, and Peter, who not only lost his parents when he was young but losing his Uncle Ben a couple of years ago to a monster fire.

Thinking of this makes Pete sad as he pulls out his wallet to see a picture of a young him with his aunt and uncle, all smiling at the camera, Both adults being in their uniforms for their professions, May in her nurse scrubs, and Ben in his firefighting jacket.

So to not think about it anymore, Pete moves on. "Unspent Attribute Points: 0" the final line mocked him, a reminder that while he had ascended to a new level, the journey had just begun. Peter couldn't help but ponder the implications of these statistics on his identity. The amalgamation of Peter Parker and The Gamer had birthed a being that defied the norms of both worlds.

Now onto the last part of his status tab before moving on. Peter hesitated, his imaginary cursor hovering over the button. With a deep breath, he mentally pressed it, revealing what "Gamer's Constitution" grants him. Intrigued, Peter delved into the details of this unique skill that seemed to set him apart from the conventional Gamer archetype.

{Immunity to Mental Intrusions (Your mind will forever be protected from unwanted intrusions)}

{Calm Under Pressure (Activated only when the user's life is at risk)}

{Continuous Growth (XP accumulation for continuous improvement)}

{Rapid Recovery (Complete recovery after a good night's rest)}

{Healing Through Items (Ability to heal through consumable items)}

The description unfolded like a roadmap to resilience. Peter absorbed the information, his mind dissecting each aspect of this unique skill.

"Immunity to Mental Intrusions," Peter mused, acknowledging the shield that protected his mind from external influences. It was a welcomed defense, especially in a world teeming with potential threats.

"Calm Under Pressure, activated only when my life is at risk," Peter pondered this specific aspect. A shiver of realization ran down his spine. The skill offered a controlled detachment, a shield against panic, but it would only kick in when the stakes were life-threatening.

"Continuous Growth, XP accumulation for continuous improvement," the words resonated with the essence of his journey. The promise of evolution, a constant ascent toward newfound heights.

"Rapid Recovery, complete recovery after a good night's rest," Peter couldn't help but smile. The prospect of waking up each day with a clean slate, ready to face the challenges ahead, brought a sense of comfort.

"Healing Through Items, ability to heal through consumable items," Peter's eyes widened at this revelation. The system not only granted him the power to grow continuously but also provided a means to recover from injuries through consumables. The anticipation of acquiring healing potions and other items fueled his excitement for the adventures that lay ahead.

The breadth of the Gamer's Constitution unfolded before Peter, a testament to the resilience ingrained in his new identity. The subway tunnel, once a labyrinth of shadows, now echoed with the footsteps of a hero equipped with not just physical prowess but the fortitude to withstand the trials of his dual life.

His mind raced, contemplating the significance of these numbers. The reflection in the holographic display showed determination in his eyes, a spark of resilience. The subway tunnel, once a mere backdrop, now echoed with the whispers of a future, defined by these extraordinary attributes. Moving on, Peter delved into the Skills tab. "Arachnid Physique" stood prominently, its collapsible form revealing a wealth of passive and active skills. Wall-crawling, Enhanced Physique, Organic Web-Shooting, Spider-Sense — a symphony of abilities that echoed the legacy of Spider-Man and the augmentation brought by the Gamer system. A revelation unfolded as Peter discovered the absence of quests. The system, unlike the conventional systems he'd read about, presented a clean and straightforward design. No predetermined objectives dictated his actions. A wave of surprise mixed with relief washed over Peter. The canvas of his journey stretched before him, unmarred by the constraints of preset quests.

He contemplated this newfound freedom, realizing that every decision, every action, every mistake, was now solely his to make. The journey that lay ahead was his to shape, a fusion of Spider-Man's legacy and the unique potential bestowed by the Gamer system.

Next, Peter ventured into the Inventory tab, and a world of possibilities unfolded. The first revelation came in the form of the "Spider-Man Suit." Its functions, while not godly, were practical and welcomed. Auto Clean, Auto Repair, and finally, Visual Customizability, which will allow him to do exactly what it says, to customize what the suit looks like, anywhere from the clothes of a homeless person, to the original purpose, a spider suit. — features that seamlessly integrated the suit into his dual identity. The suit, an extension of himself, symbolized the synthesis of Peter Parker as Spider-Man.

A single item stood alongside the Spider-Man Suit in the inventory — a skill book titled "ID Create/Destroy." The anticipation in Peter's eyes grew as he clicked on the book to unravel its secrets. The holographic pages displayed a skill that could temporarily create a dimension, an isolated space for training without the constraints of reality and the prying eyes of the public. The potential for growth and mastery ignited a fire within Peter.

Without hesitation, Peter absorbed the knowledge contained within the skill book. The system granted him a brief explanation of "ID Create/Destroy." At level 1, it could conjure a mirror dimension — a perfect copy of the world but devoid of living entities. The potential of this skill to provide a training sanctuary fueled Peter's curiosity.

Eager to test his newfound abilities, Peter focused on refining his existing skills. Utilizing the "MP" (Mana Points) generated after learning "ID Create/Destroy," he activated the skill to create a temporary dimension within the abandoned subway tunnel. The once echoing sounds of water dripping and critters crawling vanished, leaving only the rhythmic sound of Peter's breathing.

As Peter processed the reality of his enhanced self, he couldn't suppress a wry smile. The responsibility that came with such power wasn't lost on him. With every gift, there lay a challenge. The city above beckoned, and Peter, now a fusion of science and the unexplainable, was ready to face it.

The holographic interface remained suspended in the air, a visual representation of the intersection between Peter Parker and The Gamer. The abandoned subway tunnel, witness to the birth of this convergence, echoed with the determination of a hero ready to swing into a destiny that transcended the ordinary.

Alone in this silent sanctuary, Peter ventured beyond the tunnel. The transition from the muted tunnel to a deserted New York was profound. The city lay silent, devoid of the usual hustle and bustle. It was a canvas waiting to be painted with the strokes of Spider-Man's web-slinging prowess.

Taking advantage of this newfound freedom, Peter began to practice his web-slinging. A new skill emerged, and with each swing, he gained experience points, leveling up his abilities. The deserted streets of New York became his training ground, a place for him to let loose and strengthen himself.

Having honed his web-slinging skills a little on the way home, it now standing in his skills tab.

{Web-slinging LVL 4, 2/25 XP}

Arriving in an alleyway close to his home, Peter decided to exit the ID. He picked this spot to ensure that he would return to reality in a place where he wouldn't be seen, not by people walking by, nor any surveillance. As he used ID Destroy, the sound of life returned to the world, the sound of cars driving by, and kids playing in the street.

Now back in the real world, Peter takes his school bag out of his inventory and slings it onto his back to not garner questions about where his bag is, he then exits the alleyway, heading for his house, opening the front door, Pete walks inside with the intention to go straight to his room. However, the sight of his aunt standing there, giving him a worried look, changed that real quick.

The fusion of Peter and Jake had embarked on a journey, but the challenges and uncertainties of this dual identity loomed ahead. The bustling city that is New York stirred with life, a stage for the extraordinary tale that awaited its very own friendly neighborhood hero, Spider-Man.
