48 Chapter 48 - Ray, the Sigma Cat

"Move! Move dammit!" He screamed mutely as voice refused to escape his throat.

The god is right in front of him. Tempting him to by showing his defenseless self, just within the reach of his spear that can behead him with a single swing of his arm.

Yet, why? Why does his body refuse to move? Why does his body refuse to obey him and want to run instead?

He resisted with all his willpower to prevent his legs from turning around and fleeing.

"I am the chosen one! The real protagonist of this world! Blessed with the True Longinus to be the beacon of light and hope, to be the leader of humanity against their oppressors!"

"Then why won't my body obey me! What is it that it fears! What is this deeply ingrained fear so primal I couldn't comprehend!" He roared with all his might yet only a muffled snarl managed to squeeze out from his throat.

"Oh! Admirable. Admirable indeed to still be able to resist!" Ray floats before Cao Cao and his silky smooth hand gently caresses his face while licking his lips feeling irresistible craving for Cao Cao. The more Cao Cao struggles, the happier Ray becomes.

The battle also nearly concluded, Heracles and Connla had been eviscerated by the angels before shadow appeared below their corpse and swallowed whole.

Georg went insane before bringing in the rest of the Hero Faction before slaughtering them and offering their corpses to Ray. Then he stabs his own heart and slowly dies.

Jeanne is now alone, desperately fending off the four angels that Ray mentally ordered to keep her occupied.

All that is left is Cao Cao alone, helpless and incapable to do anything as all his hard work and efforts collapse before his very eyes while all he can do is stand like a statue while being toyed around by Ray.

Indignation, anger and rage boiling inside him as cold fury settled inside his heart. Then suddenly, the sinister presence vanished and his body became free again.

Without even sparing a moment, he slashed his spear at Ray, aiming to slice off his head from his neck.

*Clang!*

A towering armored Valkyrie suddenly appeared behind Ray and blocked the slash aimed for his neck using her shield.

"Another God!" Cao Cao became shocked before his rage increased further. "So what! If I don't kill you today, I will never be able to die in peace!" He declared their irreconcilable hatred before charging again.

Freya effortlessly blocks each incoming strike while feeling incredibly happy to serve her Master, not to mention when he is currently in such irresistibly cute form that made her body heat up and her mind unable to think about anything other than to please her Master more and let this moment last a little longer.

But when Freya purposely does not attack Cao Cao and only fends off his attack, Ray turns his head up and looks at her eyes peeking behind her helmet that covers her upper face. His eyes narrowed with a frown but did nothing to break the immaculate charming face of his as Freya felt her heart skip a few beats.

"Oi, you actually dare slacking and taking advantage of me?" He said with an emotionless tone that made her whole body down to the core of her soul tremble in fear due to her deeply ingrained trauma. "Perhaps I had been too merciful with you. A mere slave dares overstep her boundary."

With a snap of his finger, his shadow surged and swallowed Freya back while she screamed for forgiveness and mercy but her words only came out an erratic grunts as darkness engulfed her blurry vision clouded by her own tears and her arm that was reaching to her Master as she mutely begging for forgiveness.

"Accept your punishment and repeat your action. If your soul could survive the punishment, maybe you can keep your memory intact." Ray snorted and scoffed as her entire body fully swallowed into his Shadow.

Cao Cao is a little confused by the turn of the event when Ray suddenly sends away his protector. Not that he cares because it plays in his favor as took the opportunity while Ray is distracted and used his Juggernaut Drive, Truth Idea, which he didn't have the opportunity to use before due to it requiring him to chant uninterrupted.

"Haah… look like I still have to take care of everything myself." Ray sighed while looking quite relaxed even after Cao Cap used Truth Idea.

In fact, Ray is relaxed as he analyzes the ability which makes Cao Cao's confidence waver. Seeing how his opponent is unphased and didn't really care as if he was never even a threat is very unsettling and the thought grows stronger by the second inside his mind.

"So, it depends on Big G's consciousness inside the spear. It acts like a remote switch to the Heaven System to give blessings to whoever he approved, huh. That's the source of your confidence? The lingering consciousness of a deceased god?" Ray couldn't help but laugh till his stomach hurt.

Cao Cao staggered as fear once again settled in his heart. Many 'What if's' questions appeared in his mind that he could no longer resist after seeing how his opponent mocked his strongest trump card like it was nothing.

"Ahh…" Ray finally stopped laughing to catch his breath before he looked at Cao Cao with an indescribable smirk and said. "Even if the Biblical God is here and alive in his peak, I can still slaughter him effortlessly like a chicken."

"What do you think his lingering consciousness and the Heaven System that had been in a state of disrepair and decay since his death can do against me? Hmn?" He asked with his child-like playful voice which served only to mock him even further.

Ray looks as Cao Cao slowly descends into madness. Everything that he thought he knew was flipped around with a casual move by Ray. There is no proof he can seize victory and Ray already admitted that he had been playing him around like a fool by manipulating Big G's consciousness as Ray easily made it say whatever he wanted just to prove it to Cao Cao.

Ray grin turns wider as Cao Cao is nearly done and he can finally savor him. All he needs is a finishing touch.

He turned to the side and saw Jeanne finally killed the four angels he sent to keep her occupied by relying on her Sacred Gear that can create Holy Swords.

Cao Cao saw Jeanne rushing to his aid feeling invigorated and believing there is still hope. The Hero Faction had yet to collapse. As long as there is still someone he can fight for, he will not allow himself to be defeated just like that.

"Oh, ganging up on me?" Ray continues to smile which annoys Cao Cao a lot and his rage burns stronger than before, only can be quenched with the death of Ray!

Ray summons numerous spear chains that shoot out from his shadow like guided missiles, swarming at Cao Cao to stop him. But Cao Cao instantly used his Balance Breaker and collided the True Longinus with the thousands of chain spears with a thunderous roar that says "Parinayakaratana", before an explosion of blinding light consumed everything and leveled the entire Kuoh except for the mall that still remain unaffected for some reason.

Ray didn't come out from the attack unscathed as his clothes were ruined. But that's all the damage was.

Cao Cao lunged out of nowhere and caught Ray off guard as he was coughing very hard after accidentally inhaling some debris from the explosion. His face turns into a grin as he looks at True Longinus was an inch away from gouging Ray's neck and impales it.

But, a moment later. Cao Cao felt his spear stabbed something impenetrable.

"Impossible! No! No! No! This can't be true! Nothing in this world is impervious to True Longinus! The spear that killed God himself! Impossible! Impossible! Im— *Cough!* …ble…" Cao Cao descended into madness as his world shattered before his eyes. Especially when he looks at the familiar rapier that stabbed through his heart with his bloodshot eyes.

Jeanne scoffed before ripping her blade out from Cao Cao's chest but suddenly dropped the blade out of disgust before hopping uncaringly across the mortally wounded body of her once admired and respected leader and jumping into Ray's embrace with pink lovestruck hearts in her eyes. However Ray catches her easily by her chin and throws her against the ground.

"Presumptuous. A mere toad lusting for the swan's meat. You should be grateful to even be allowed to lick my foot. Yet you dare stain my immaculate body I reserve for my wife only with your filthy body?" Ray stomps on her head angrily until her head bleeds.

"Ah! Please don't hate me! I cannot bear to live without your love! I will do anything you say and anything you want. I will even be your pet or slave! Please don't hate me!" But she didn't care and gratefully tried to lick the bottom of his boots while panting rapidly like bitch in heat.

Cao Cao in his dying breath looked at the state Jeanne had fallen into as he coughed out another mouthful of blood before his eyes also turned dim and died.

Ray only scoffed and kicked her away before she was swallowed by his Shadow.

"Hmn. Time to return home." He yawned after feeling stuffed and raised both arms up into the sky before he stretched a little.

Ray shapeshifts back into his cat form and destroys the tattered clothes on his body before releasing the power of Dimension Lost as he teleports back to catch his nap. He should have another two hours of peace. Five hours if Ravel takes a detour to the saloon and spa with everyone.
