42 Chapter 42 - Speculation
Since the addition of Kuroka, Ray felt like his life is a little different.
Unlike others he didn't really pay much attention and he let loose on their own. Kuroka is different because of how openly she is trying to get intimate with him and he can't exactly just ignore it.
Usually, it's Ravel trying to take opportunities and get closer with him intimately and he usually just ignores it because other than their relationship as Master and Apostle, there's nothing else to it in terms of expectations. She might try to get closer to him but he isn't expected to reciprocate her advances. Even if he ignores it, no one will voice any complaints or harbor any thoughts about it.
For Kuroka however, it's different. Not only is he expected to respond to her affection. He is also expected to give her affection.
"Fuck… only been a day and I already miss my life as a lone cat." Ray sighed and thought back about his spur of passion that night. "I really can't handle this responsibility shit." He regretted his action. However, rice has already turned into porridge. There's no other way to salvage the rice anymore.
Feeling unable to bear staying at home, Ray went out for a walk and took in some fresh air. He wanders without a destination nor direction, simply following where the wind would blow.
Coincidentally, he stumbled upon a certain Exorcist with a blue hair.
"Hmn? How come she is here?" Ray wondered as he remembered that the truth about God being dead shouldn't be out yet. Thus, Xenovia Quarta shouldn't have reason to be in Kuoh as she is still part of the Church.
Feeling curious, Ray look into her past to try dig out the reason. It didn't even take any effort as a quick glimpse already give him the answer.
"To investigate about the unknown Arthur Pendragon descendant and the Holy Sword Excalibur?" Ray frowned.
Last time anyone dare covet those information had they very soul devoured by him. However, he let Xenovia off this time is because she was ordered to not be forceful with her method of investigating because the Church is warned by Michael to not try to offend him in any manner.
So far, Xenovia hadn't did anything that would offend him and her investigation had only been observing for any clue or appearance of Artoria which sadly was none and her progress is basically zero. However, it's interesting that the Devil would accommodate and cooperate with Heaven solely for Excalibur.
In Ray's opinion, even if Excalibur is an impressive weapon. It still pale in comparison against Longinus Class Sacred Gear which make their cooperation odd.
Feeling curious and adventurous, Ray decided to investigate deeper about Holy Sword Excalibur for it to trigger such response from not just Heaven and Devils but also the Fallen Angels.
To learn it's secret, Ray simply open a portal back in time and yoinked the Holy Sword Excalibur for a closer examination. However, the end result of his investigation is very shocking!
"Fuck! No wonder they go crazy for this sword." Ray finally understand the reason.
Holy Sword Excalibur have numerous power as many had known. The primary one is the powers which contain in the sword and when it shattered, it turn into seven different sword, each hold one of the abilities. However, aside for those. It is also insanely strong against Devil since it's a sword made with the purpose to give human a fighting chance against Lucifer, the other Satans and his legion of Demon and Devils.
Even if the wielder is nothing more than a normal human. As long as they wield Excalibur, they can have a chance to kill Lucifer and the other Satans. That's how insanely op the sword were.
On top of the enhanced seven abilities and Holy power than counter evil, it also let it's wielder access a variety of Holy Spells without need to learning them and appropriate affinity. It's also a weapon that hold a portion of Big G's power similar to True Longinus. Capable to mobilize Big G's power from Heaven's System to deliver a powerful ultimate attack.
If Excalibur were to compared to True Longinus, the latter win only because Sacred Gear can power up through Balance Breaker or else, Excalibur is not inferior by the least.
As for the reason it was shattered, Lucifer and his legion see it as too much of a threat, similar to Azazel since after becoming a Fallen, they also considered an evil creature that naturally countered by Excalibur. The Devil and Fallen Angel perpetrated the shattering of Excalibur in order to tilt the favor of battle to their side.
"Still, compared to Artoria's Excalibur. The DxD Excalibur is just plain haxx and carry it's wielder instead of supporting like Artoria's Excalibur." Ray shrug with disinterest and toss the Excalibur away which sink into his Shadow.
Meanwhile in heaven.
"The System detected Father's presence!" Michael exclaimed in shock and quickly locate it and the System point out Kuoh Town.
The present of Big G's power didn't last long and vanished after a few seconds. However, the impact it left were significant.
During the secret joint meeting between the three factions, Michael heard Azazel's speculation about the unknown god's identity. After recounting the feat it does, his Father were mentioned although dismissed because the way the unknown god act and does is way different compared to his Father who is stern and always serious unlike the unknown god which acted more like a bored person looking for entertainment.
Of course, Azazel speculated again that maybe. Just maybe their Father get bored of his old modus operandi and simply retired. Although there's a slim possibility it might be true, it is still too far fetched as his Father is always concern about the peace of the world and would be impossible for him to suddenly have a change of heart when considering his personality.
But in Michael's heart, there's a tiny part of him that wished Azazel's speculation is true. He wished the System's detection is true and his Father simply got bored of his old method and retired form trying to save humanity's fate from their inevitable destruction.
