12 Chapter 12 - Asia’s True Feelings

After the school ended, Asia waited at the front gate. Many classmates were curious who she was waiting for. Mostly her classmates.

Moments later, a black cat appeared and rubbed its body around her leg which Asia greeted with a big smile. There are mixed reactions. But mostly surprised as a cat came and picked her up before they left.

Meanwhile hidden in the building and peeking outside the window is the Devil heiress and the two hidden Satans. They heaved a collective sigh of relief and wiped their non-existent cold sweat from their forehead that the day ended without anyone dying or the city wiped out from the map.

Yes, they are treading on very very thin ice with this that the Devil council even mobilize their forces to sweep the city clean from any stray devils or any potential danger. Not even a pebble that could potentially cause tripping be left behind. Absolutely safe city as promised by the Satans.

"Asia, wanna take a detour? We can take a little walk before going back home." Ray said as he needed to buy some time for Sakuya to make the newest addition to their group presentable as a former experimental subject. Sakuya is probably still buying Sirin a new clothes at the nearby mall.

"Of course, but where are we going? I don't know where to go." She said, a little worried since she is new to this town and hadn't learned about the places much.

"You know what. Maybe a little tour around the town wouldn't hurt." Ray said before he gave Asia a grand tour around Kuoh.

Meanwhile with Sakuya and Sirin.

"What do you think, Miss Sakuya?" Sirin walk out the dressing room with a cream white one piece dress that emphasized her innocence.

Sakuya nods before turning to the salesgirl. "We will take that too."

The salesgirl looks a little worried as the selected clothes already pile up like a literal mountain.

"Are you sure, miss?"

In response, Sakuya simply pulls out a diamond encrusted card and passes it to the salesgirl. Instantly all hesitation vanished and she got back to work packing up everything with inhuman speed.

"Devils sure like vanity that much." Sakuya commented with a scoff at the card made out of black gold with multi-colored diamonds encrusted around it.

"You can keep that dress on, Mistress Sirin. Next stop is the jewelry shop and then the salon. Your hair is unkempt and honestly it looks dreadful." Sakuya said before Sirin could even reply and was dragged away.

Back to Ray and Asia.

They toured most of the important part of the town and suddenly Asia's stomach growled which turned the girl's cheek red like a ripe tomato before Ray led her to a place where they could get a pre meal snack but not before he laughed at her expense.

After buying a crepe at a park, strawberry for Asia and a mango for Ray. They sat down on a bench and started eating. For Ray, he used his tentacle to hold the crepe and needed to put on an illusion to cover him up as they ate.

"So, how's your first day at school? Wonderful I assume considering you were smiling this much." He struck up a conversation.

"Yes!" She replied with excitement and recounted her introduction with her classmates and how she made a lot of friends. Just from her expression alone, she is definitely on cloud nine.

"Glad you are happy." He replied before he took another much of his crepe and bit off a chunk of mango.

"Uhm…"

"Hmn? What's wrong?" He noticed she was trying to say something but couldn't get it out of her mouth.

"Ah! It's nothing. I just wanted to thank you, Ray. Ever since the day we met, I had never been happier in my life. I could have a big and soft bed to sleep in, a full stomach, going to school like I always dreamt of, meeting people and making a lot of friends. I feel blessed to have you by my side."

Ray was surprised by this sudden confession. But he burst out laughing a moment later which caused her cheek to redden again.

"Why are you laughing at me again? Did I say something wrong or funny?" She pouted. Adorably so.

"Ah! Haah… It's nothing, I promise." He said but continued laughing.

"Then stop laughing at me." She said bashfully, trying to hide her face that is burning up.

"Okay. Okay. I'll stop…" He said before finally stopping. "I just realized how simple it is in your mind. But I don't blame you either. You lived most of your life basically in captivity." He said before his face turned into a snarl remembering how the Church wronged her.

"Well, don't worry. That is what a friend is for right? I will make you the happiest person ever in the world. That, I promise." He stood up on his hind legs and crossed his right paw on his chest, making his vow. But secretly inside his mind, Ray sees his role is more like a doting father than a friend though. Not that she needs to learn about this.

"Thank you, Ray. Just having you by my side already makes me the happiest I could ever be." Asia bent her body to the side and gave Ray a hug.

"Umu, let's finish our crepe and return home. I have two new people to introduce to you. Our new Head Maid and a friend for you." He said before wolfing down the remaining half of the crepe.

"Really? A new friend!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes. Now finish it quickly so we can head home."

"Okay." She tried to eat fast but she was a little clumsy and got some cream around her mouth that Ray helped wipe using a handkerchief he pulled out from his shadow and using his tentacle to reach her mouth.
