Chapter – 23 Lucas Friend, Francis

After digging for more than a foot under the ground something comes into their view. There was a single crystal there and with the glow, it was emitting it was definitely a basic-tier crystal and after the system window confirmed it, Max was a little disappointed after seeing only one crystal there. He had hoped for a dozen crystals to be there but it looks like the beast had just started collecting the crystals for itself and wasn't able to collect more.

"At least you found something, don't get upset about it." Lucas comforted Max cause the look of disappointment was stuck on his face after seeing the crystal. "Come rest for some time then we will head back to the city if we don't encounter any beast on our way back. We will reach the city before sunrise." Lucas shouted from where everyone was sitting but his voice was not too loud, only loud enough that it could reach Max.

"I guess it's okay I already had six Basic-tier crystals with me including this one now it's seven and also that advanced-tier crystal. I don't know much Exp. I'll get from one basic crystal, Should I check it out now?" Max could not hold back himself and used the crystal that he had just found from the ground to convert into Exp. the moment Max decided to convert the crystal, the crystal disintegrated in Max's hands and the particles enter his body.

Seeing the window in front of him, Max had also anticipated something around this much of Exp. from the crystal. I think I'm near halfway to leveling up, thinking about what new skill he might get from leveling up Max opened his status window.

I can level up soon with the current amount of crystals I have I'll be able to level up any time I want to. If only I was able to kill that rabbit from earlier, I might have leveled up that moment but it's fine, once I get back to the city, I'll use the rest of the Basic-tier crystals to level up and I'll take the advance-tier crystal to Jack, so he can make a sword for me.

After everyone rested for an hour, they decided to head back now. In most of the forests hunting at night time is dangerous but this forest was an exception as most of the hunters visit here a lot to kill the beast most of the beasts here a low-tiers and it's an easy job for low-level hunters.

Taking back the same route as the one we had used to get here; we were being careful cause' we did not want to get ambushed again by a beast. While going back we didn't encounter any beasts, thus it made our journey easier to the city in some hours we were able to get out of the forest and our horses were still there for some time I had even forgotten that we had ridden the horses here.

Surprisingly there were more horses there now, maybe other people also had come here to hunt the beasts. We took our horses and get back to the city, in some time the sunrise will happen. "Are we heading to the inn Lucas?" Max asked cause' he wanted to get in his room and use those crystals to level up, he was holding himself back as he didn't want to convert those crystals in front of them.

Trying to control his urge Max started thinking about something else to divert his mind from that. "No, we will head directly to my friend's place first to hand him over the beast crystal, then we will head back to the inn to discuss what we have to do now," Lucas told everyone as he was leading them inside the inner part of the city.

When the horses come to a stop everyone was looking at the place, as it was a blacksmith shop and out of everyone, Max was the most surprised one as he had yesterday visited this shop. "Is Jack a friend of Lucas?" Max thought about the only possible person inside the shop to be the one that Lucas was talking about. "Anyways it's good that I'm here I could give him the advance-tier crystal as well to turn into a sword." Max was glad that he can soon get a new sword now.

Getting off the horses all four of them head inside, ignoring the closed sign that was hanging on the door. Lucas didn't care about the closed sign as it was his friend's shop, he can enter whenever he wants to and nobody would stop him. "Francis" Lucas yelled slowly inside the shop so his friend can know he had come there. But hearing a different name Max was now more confused why was Lucas not asking for Jack? And who's this Francis that Lucas is looking for? Waiting to see what will happen, someone comes out from the same room where Jack had come out from yesterday.

This person is small compared to Jack, now that I think about it even Lucas is quite small compared to Jack. But where is Jack? Seeing this new person Max tried to see if Jack would also come out from there but no one else come out, only Francis was walking towards them.

Francis had the same physique as Lucas, other than their faces you can say everything about them was the same. Francis had very short grey hair like a military man and brown eyes with a clean shave and a round face.

"Did you get me what I asked for?" Francis asked Lucas. "Yeah, we got it." Lucas took out the crystal from the pouch and handed it over to Francis. "Great, now I'll be able to make that shield in some time." Francis thanks, Lucas.

"If you are tired you and your friends can stay here for some time until I opened the shop," Francis said after looking at all of their faces which were exhausted cause of the hunt and travel, they had done.

"Mr. Francis If you don't mind can you tell me when will be Jack get here?" Max asked Francis, which was surprising for both Lucas and Francis as none of them had expected him to know Jack. "It's quite unexpected for me, that you know Jack, had you visited my shop before?" Francis asked.

"Yeah, I have been here yesterday, I needed a sword, and when I wasn't able to find one at a shop. I found this shop and thought maybe I could ask someone here to make me a sword and it was then I meet Jack" Max told Francis about how he knows Jack.
