24 The Calm Before The Storm

Jason Andrews, for the first time in a while, felt excited about something.

He, along with Coulson, had reached the facility of SHIELD some time ago, and saying that Jason was impressed with the place would be an understatement.

Everywhere he looked, men and women in black could be seen working on something that Jason couldn't quite understand, but it still looked cool in his eyes.

He felt like he was in a movie.

"Jason? Are you still with me?"

"Huh? Yeah, Uhm-, what were you saying?"

Coulson deadpanned at Jason, who shifted his eyes away nervously. After a while of silent staring, Coulson sighed and repeated what he said earlier.

"I was showing you the thing we're here to get information on." Coulson said, before pointing a finger towards something stuck on the ground, a few steps ahead of Jason, "Look."

Jason looked at where Coulson was pointing, and saw the same object he saw in the photo Fury showed him.

"It's a hammer."

Jason said plainly. He was wondering why someone in space needed it. Were they building something?

"Sure looks like one. Quite a heavy hammer too." Coulson agreed, before noticing the confused look on Jason's face.

"What do you mean?"

Coulson smiled, and moved towards the hammer stuck on the ground. He grabbed the handle with both his hands, and grunted as he started trying to lift it off the ground. It was a futile struggle, and the hammer didn't budge an inch.

"See? Nobody can lift it. We tried using other methods, but it still didn't budge."

Jason's eyes widened as he heard Coulson's words. He noticed the huge crater that was formed around it. This thing sure looked heavy.

Hammers are usually held up by someone, and if there is someone out there who could hold this thing despite its weight, they should be strong.

Jason wanted to meet that someone, if there was one.

But before that—

"Can I try?"

Jason asked, his eyes turning sharp for a second before they returned to being those dotted orbs. Coulson was surprised by that, but quickly put it off as his imagination.

"Sure. Just try not to fall." Coulson advised before moving back.

Jason nodded at him and slowly approached the hammer. He held the handle in his palm. There was no grunt, no struggle. His face turned serious, and a raging fire could be seen inside his eyes.

Coulson was surprised by the change of expression on Jason's face. This was the first time Coulson saw Jason showing so much emotion behind something. For a second, he felt a bit nervous.

Jason was about to lift the hammer off the ground, but before he could, a sudden thought hit him.

"Hey, I have a question."

Coulson was broken out of his thoughts by Jason, who was looking up at him with a confused look on his face. Coulson got curious about Jason's sudden change in demeanor and approached him from behind.

"What is it?"

"What would happen if I lifted it up?"

Jason asked, not knowing what the after effects would be if he were to lift this thing up. Jason wasn't thinking too hard about this, it was just that he was worried if he would do something wrong by lifting this up. Are they going to charge him for that?

"Are you asking what would happen if we can lift this up? As in, if there would be some situation we aren't prepared for?"

"Something like that." Jason shrugged, he didn't know what Coulson was talking about.

Coulson pondered Jason's question for a while before answering.

"We don't know for sure. But there is a chance it might lead to an Earthquake or some other disaster in some parts of the world."

Jason quickly pulled his hand away from the hammer, and took a few steps away from it. Coulson smiled at Jason, and decided to lead him to the main office. Jason followed after him while poking his nose. All the agents looked at Jason in disgust for his action.

Nobody noticed the slight handprint that was left on the handle.

[ Jane Foster's POV ]

Jane couldn't believe it. Her entire life of research was taken away from her by some shady men in black, they even took her diary.

Erik was telling her to calm down. Darcy was telling her to keep a cool head. They both didn't want her to do something she might regret. Did she listen to them?

Hell no.

Her entire life of work was forcefully taken away in front of her eyes, there was no way she could keep calm. She was going to get her research back, no matter what!

And to do that, she needed to find him. The only one who could help her from this situation.

"What the hell is he doing?"

Jane muttered, her eyes fixed on the muscular back of the person she was looking for.

The blonde haired stranger, who referred to himself as Thor, was inside a pet store demanding a horse to ride it.

The expression on the pet store owner's face was enough to tell Jane what he thought of the situation. She was sure he was ten seconds away from calling the police.

"You don't have a horse, fine. Bring me something I can ride."

Before the situation could get any worse, Jane quickly grabbed a hold of Thor's arm, and gave the store owner a sheepish smile.

"Lady Jane?" Thor grinned, seemingly happy to see her back.

"I'm so sorry. My friend here has the tendency to prank people." She tried to pull Thor away with her, but he gave her a questioning gaze.

"—No. That's not me, that's Loki—" She forcefully cut him off.

"He doesn't mean anything bad. I'll be taking him with me now."

—With that, they left the store.

Outside the store, the first thing Jane did was give Thor a glare, which was soon melted away by the genuine smile on his face. He looked really happy to see her.

"Lady Jane! So you have finally decided to help me! I'm glad it was not a farewell."

Looking at Thor's smile, Jane tried not to swoon. This was dangerous, she almost squealed there.

"..Just, tell me what you were doing there?" Jane massaged her forehead.

"I was looking for a horse. I can sense Mjolnir is quite a distance away. I will have to fetch a ride if I want to travel there fast."

Any other person would have looked at Thor as if he was an idiot, Jane herself knew she would have done the same, but at the moment, she wanted to believe him.

He was the only one who could take Jane to where those people were. Where her research was. For that, Jane was willing to give Thor and his story the benefit of the doubt.

"... If what you say is true, and all the things you said about you sensing your... important thing's presence is true, how can I believe you?"

Thor looked at Jane in the eyes, his smile fading away, leaving behind only a sad look on his face. Jane tried her hardest to not hug him.

"Just this once, believe me. I will prove to you I'm worthy."

Thor said, determination filling his eyes. Jane liked those eyes. They had a sort of thunder in them.

".. worthy for what?"

"Your trust."

[ With Jason ]

Jason was bored.

It had already been three hours since he had been here, and nothing interesting happened. All the excitement he had prior to coming here had been completely wiped clean. The only thing left was boredom.

All the agents that looked cool earlier, looked like normal everyday people now who didn't want to talk to him. His partner, what was his name again?was too busy ordering these agents around to entertain him.

Jason was alone inside the main office. He was looking at the gold fish in the fish tank with a disgusted look on his face. The gold fish turned its eyes on Jason, and simply stared at him. Jason tried to match its intense stare, but quickly looked away.

Those eyes were too creepy for him to look into!

*THUNDER*

"Oh? Seems like it's going to rain today."

Jason said, before turning his attention back at the gold fish.

Coulson heard the sound of thunder, but put it in the back of his mind as simply being in bad weather.

Every agent inside the SHIELD facility didn't adhere to the weather's warning, and kept on doing their duty.

Nobody inside the facility could have guessed...

That it was just the calm before the storm.

~~~
Yo people!
Some action is going to be seen soon! Thor is going to attack the SHIELD facility, and with Jason around, it's going to be a bit tough, don't you think?
Anyways, leave a comment if you have time. Give me your power stones!
Ciao.
