15 Getting a Job

"So, you are Jason?" A woman in her late-forties, asked the bald man standing in front of her.

She was a woman of average height and a slightly fat build, with brown curly hair and eyes. She was the owner of one of the most famous Diner around this area.

An acquaintance of hers, a really kind man, asked her to let his nephew in on a job as a waiter in her Diner. He also told her that his nephew was afflicted by a disease which caused him to lose his hair at a young age, so he asked her to not comment about his lack of hair as that would be pretty insensitive.

Currently, she was looking at a resume in front of her that this man named Jason, gave to her while staring at her unenthusiastically.

She was confused at first and who wouldn't be?

Jason just barged into her office with an expressionless face and stood in front of her without saying anything. He looked really creepy at that time so she thought about calling the police on him, but stopped when she saw him searching inside his bag for something. At first, she thought that he was going to point a weapon at her face, but those thoughts went away when he pointed a file in front of her face instead of a gun.

When she opened that file, the first thing she saw was a page which had a title 'How broke I am' written at the top. There was a huge cross mark going from the top to bottom on that page, with a note saying 'Don't read it' in a different handwriting.

She decided not to read that page and turned it over. On the next page, her eyes landed on the name her acquaintance informed her about. The name of his nephew.

And that brings us back to our current situation.

"So, you are Jason?"

Jason, after being asked that question by the woman in front of him, decided to answer her.

"Yup." He answered plainly while nodding his head.

"So Jason, are you the same nephew Coulson told me about? You two sure don't look alike. I hope he is doing fine though, being a principal of a school with how these younglings are nowadays, it can't be easy." The woman said in the hopes of starting a small talk with Jason.

"Me too." Jason answered absent-mindedly while staring at the woman in front of him. He was wondering who this Coline guy was but who cares? He just had to continue nodding his head as Fury told him and he would get the job; At least that's what Fury said.

The woman after seeing Jason nodding his head smiled and decided to ask him another question before officially appointing him as a waiter at her restaurant.

"Alright Jason, let me ask you this to confirm something first. Have you ever worked in a restaurant before? Like, do you have any experience?" The woman asked this question to get an idea about how much work load she could put on Jason. Knowing that he was previously afflicted with an unknown disease, she understood that she couldn't burden him with too much physical work.

Jason after being asked that question, surpringly said

"Yup. I do. I have experience working in a restaurant." Jason answered simply while nodding his head.

This time, Jason was telling the truth. He had worked in a restaurant before.

When Jason's mother died, he was completely broke. He needed money to take care of himself at the time, so he decided to get a part-time job in the restaurant close to his old house.

The lady after hearing Jason's words, took his words as a sign of his determination and can't help but feel her respect rise for this young man in front of her.

To the lady, it felt like Jason was doing various jobs to forget about the past where he had to survive against a deadly disease(she just assumed it was a deadly disease), but instead of focusing on it, he decided to continue on his life as if that part of his life never happened.

The lady while feeling a little emotional, looked at Jason and said with a smile on her face

"That's excellent! You are hired."

After that part was done and over with, The lady decided to show Jason where all the tables are.

Jason was dosing off the entire time but he still remembered which table is which; as they were arranged in a numerical order.

The lady after showing Jason where all the tables are, sighed in satisfaction and said

"Well then Jason, call me Izzy as that's what everyone here calls me. You are now officially hired as a waiter in Isabela's Diner." Izzy said while giving Jason a motherly smile.

Jason after hearing Itchy's words, looked at her and said in a thankful tone of voice

"Uh, I will be in your care then, and thanks for letting me work here really." Jason said while scratching his cheek with his index finger.

Izzy just smiled after hearing the politeness in his voice and was about to tell him not to worry about it when her eyes landed on the clock hanging on the wall.

She noticed that it was almost time for her customers to arrive so she looked towards Jason and said

"Well Jason, if you are really thankful then show me your gratitude through your work. I was actually going to ask you to start working from tomorrow but seeing as I haven't prepared anything for today because of the job interview we were having, I would really appreciate it if you start working from today instead." She said while looking at Jason hopefully.

Jason after hearing her, just looked at her with a plain expression on his face and said

"Ok."

Izzy gave him a grateful smile after hearing that and said

"Thank you Jason, I really appreciate it."

After that was done and over with, they both departed to do their share of work, with Izzy being busy inside the kitchen and Jason cleaning the tables with his usual apathetic expression still present on his face.

That was the day, when the strongest hero of the entire Multi-verse, ended up becoming a part-time waiter in the hopes of surviving poverty.
