*****

April 3rd. Afternoon.

Baki's House.

Three figures could be seen currently enjoying spending some time up on the rooftop's open terrace. A pink-haired girl, a brown-haired boy with a childish face, and an armored man that didn't seem to be of this world. The girl also sported a spade-shaped tail sticking out of her butt. These two were bonafide aliens, unlike the brown-haired boy.

Lala could be seen staring intensely at the pure golden light currently shining brightly inside the boy's palms. It floated in a static position, and appeared very pure, and rather dense. If one had a close look, streaks of lightning could be seen shooting through this pure ball of energy.

"So this is ki...?", Lala uttered softly, letting her tail swerve around as her eyes grew with interest. Lala even tried to reach her hand out, feeling a warmth she hadn't felt before, it felt full of life. Ki was considered one's own life energy, and if one ever tried to overly consume it, it could lead to their own death. An example of this is later on in the DBZ-Verse when Goku unlocks the power of a god and tries to fuse that Saiyan power with the Kaioken, it almost took his life. His body couldn't withstand such immense pressure and the extraction of ki likely toiled away at his life force.

Misusing ki was something I had no plans on doing. I recalled the memory Aura showed me, and when Videl extracted her ki for the first time, it almost tired her out completely. Maybe it was due to my current amount of ki, but I had plenty of room to spare. I didn't feel tired at all as I saw Lala touch the golden light before me.

"Are you sure it's safe to do that, Lala-sama?", Zastin asked as a worried look appeared in his eyes.

"I don't see why not, though this feeling of warmth is a different feeling to what I saw in you earlier Baki-kun. You said that everyone has this energy?", Lala asked me.

'They sure do. Animals, humans, aliens, it doesn't matter what you are. As long as you can take in a breath of fresh air, they can use ki. It is known as the breath of life. In extreme circumstances, it can consume one's life force, but in normal use conditions, it has no harmful effect. It can provide various benefits, even, like extending how long you live, sturdier bodies, hasted agility, and so on.", I said, beginning to explain the benefits of being able to use ki.

"That aligns to what His Majesty has mentioned in the past. In most cases, being able to use ki provides quite the array of benefits. I can't help but envy you a bit, Baki-sama. It isn't easy to tap into such a power.", Zastin said, with a hint of jealousy in his eyes.

"You should be able to as well, should you not, Zastin-san?", I said, raising my eyebrows as I didn't expect him to say that.

"I can't feel an ounce of energy like His Majesty can. I know by training for long periods of time, it does give an easier chance, but not everyone can do it, Baki-sama.", Zastin said, doing a motion of his hands, denying that he is capable of using ki like I could now.

"Heh, maybe you just haven't trained hard enough, Zastin-san.", I retorted. Hearing that caused Lala to giggle.

"Hehe, does that mean you are special, Baki-kun? If you can use this energy now, maybe you can fight Papa!", Lala happily asked me. Her tail swerved around with great interest in her eyes, causing me to pause on that question.

"You wish. There may come a day where that may happen, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm still weak. Your father would likely beat me into a pulp.", I said, shrugging my shoulders to Lala's expectations. Hearing that, her tail swooped downward. I inwardly chuckled seeing that happen. Lala's pretty upfront with how she expresses her emotions. A characteristic of Lala's race was that tail. It hailed from her mother, for being the last remaining Charmian of her race. Since marrying Gid, she produced three children, so thankfully her race isn't in dire straits any longer, but that still meant that she only had herself and three hybrid Charmians.

Recalling Lala's mother, her name was Sephie Deviluke, right? She made an appearance once or twice in the later series of To-Love Ru, and man, she was, if not the single most beautiful woman I could remember of the worlds that were mixed together.

[Insert picture of Sephie Deviluke here.]

Here was the ironic thing, however. Charmians didn't carry those spade-shaped tails. The Devilukeans did. Gid also had one. In fact, it was one of his main sources of combat. Powerful Devilukeans could fire off beams of energy that could very well be ki at that point, or perhaps it's closer to magic?

The most important thing about that attack is as long as its user had enough energy inside their body, they could adjust the power and range. It could be a precision strike equivalent to that of Frieza's Death Beam, or Goku's Kamehameha, launching a wide-ranged energy beam capable of destroying miles and miles of land. It all depended on its user and their desired effect.

Kind of makes me jealous that the Devilukean's had such an ability. Each one passed down not only to Lala, but also to her younger twin sisters, Momo and Nana. Though for these three girls, they had much less energy inside them compared to their father, so whenever Lala overused her power, she would shrink down to that of a child's body. It would take a much needed rest for her return to normal.

With my thoughts wandering to the power of a Devilukean's tail, the concentration that I had on my ki began to waver, and the golden ball of light that was floating statically in my hands began to vanish, and the ki was sent back into my body. My body was briefly engulfed by a golden aura before it completely vanished.

"Oh...", Lala uttered, seeing the warm ball of light now gone. My mind was still on her tail, and I could still see it moving around.

Lala could sense my gaze on a particular area of her body, causing her mind to stir.

"Baki-kun, what are you currently thinking of--?", Lala tried to ask me, but she couldn't even finish her sentence before my arm swiftly moved outward. It reached out toward Lala, her lower body. I felt a thin-like object enter my grasp. It was warm, and smooth.

"M-My tail...?", Lala tried to say to me. A breath of hot air suddenly escaped from her lips, and her cheeks began to flush red. She felt some strength leave her body, and I saw Lala's body slump forward my way. It took me a moment to realize what I had just done.

"Baki-sama.", Zastin's voice called out to me, making me regain my clarity. Lala continued to pant while I held onto her tail.

My gaze shifted toward Zastin, who had a serious look in his eyes.

"It is not wise to touch a Devilukean's tail like that, Baki-sama. Normally one wouldn't let another approach them and touch it. It is precious to us. I know the two of you are engaged, but you shouldn't suddenly do this.", Zastin said, warning me about grabbing a Devilukean's tail.

Realizing what I had done, I quickly released my grasp on Lala's tail. She let out another breath of hot air, and the redness of her cheeks began to change color, becoming normal again.

I almost forgot that for a Devilukean, especially one that belongs to a girl. It acted very similarly to a Saiyan's tail.

Not only did grabbing their tail weaken them, it also aroused them. A perk of a Devilukean girl.

Knowing what I had done, I had caused Lala to get aroused. That's why her cheeks suddenly turned red.

"I'm sorry, Lala-chan. I recalled something, and seeing your tail reminded me of it. I'll be careful from now on.", I said, reaching down, and ruffled Lala's hair to ease her condition. She smiled as she felt my hand, placing her hand on mine, even.

"I-it's fine, Baki-kun. You didn't know. I should have told you earlier about my tail. It's not like I don't mind it though~.", Lala replied, feeling herself return to normal. She even clinged onto my arm, letting her tail swerve around, showing her vigor that she had just lost.

This girl...

You were just aroused, you know? It's a good thing nothing further happened. For once, I'm glad Zastin was there to give me a warning.

I took a moment to let out a sigh, and proceeded to stand up. Standing up like that caused Lala to lose her grasp of my arm and became free. She was still on the ground. Padding my knees, my gaze shifted to Lala again.

"Don't underestimate that tail of yours, alright? And don't you ever think of losing it.", I said, ruffling Lala's hair some more. Hearing me suddenly say that, she just slightly tilted her now.

"Now why would I ever want to do that? You're not trying to play a prank on me now are you, Baki-kun?", Lala asked me, taking the time to stand up. I am not sure if she heeded my warning just now or not, but seeing Lala return to her cheerful self, I smiled.

Well, I am not sure if a Devilukean behaves like Saiyans do. If a Devilukean ever lost their tail, would the Devilukean die? Or is it not life-threatening, and eventually it will grow back? That wasn't something I didn't want to find out.

"It doesn't matter if you see it as a joke. Anyways, that is the idea behind ki. There aren't many humans who can use ki here, or if they do, they seclude themselves. I could even fly with ki if I wanted to.", I happily said to Lala, causing Lala's tail to swerve around again.

"You can fly now, Baki-kun? Really?", Lala said, excitement appearing in her eyes.
