Meeting the Flame Emperor-3

Noah thought that he was caught seeing the serious look on old man's face. He was in a dilemma what to say but thankfully Alastair came to his rescue.

" He has lost his memories. We were stranded in a Henwen cave when he got injured while escaping."

" You escaped from a Henwen? that's...interesting." Old man seemed even more suspicious about it.

" I know that you saved us but you have no right to doubt anything that I have to say. As the knight commander of the Lulon Kingdom, I will not take any more disrespect toward our guest." Alastair flared up.

Old man was surprised when he heard that Alastair was in the army, Knight commander were the highest rank only one rank lower than the commander of the whole army. Alastair must have commanded at least a thousand soldiers to be granted such prestigious title.

But from what he heard, the kingdom wasn't doing that great as it kept losing battle after battle against the invading army.

" I know what you are going to ask. Why am I not there defending the throne? It's because most of them ran away. Most of my units died but we were victorious in gaining a foothold in the third largest town after which I promptly resigned from the job." Alastair knew he had to give him something. It was Flame Emperor that they were talking to which holds much more higher rank than he could ever do as a normal human. Even Kings would treat him with respect.

" Very well. I will not pry further but I can see there is something that you are not telling me." The old man started walking away when Noah called out to him.

" You got a name old man or everyone calls you Flame Emperor?"

"Felix. You?" He smiled seeing the return of candidness in Noah.

" Noah."

" Noah...I will remember it." After giving him a short glance he walked away.

Noah could see the farthest two beds being occupied by the two young sorcerers. He wasn't able to get a good look but it seemed like they too were not wearing their robes. They also seemed to be unconscious.

" Bastard, are you trying to pick a fight with him again?" Mera nudged him and whispered so that others didn't hear it.

" I don't know but at least he should introduce himself before interrogating me?"

" I think you should get some rest first before thinking about any more fighting." Mera sighed. Noah was stubborn as usual, she was thankful that he protected everyone but now they were in delicate relationship with sorcerers and she didn't want to start another war by blatantly provoking them.

" Are you sure you can trust them? Who says they wouldn't try to do anything funny once they recovered their strength." Noah was genuinely concerned. He saw what they were able to do and with him being out of play he was sure no one would be able to stop them if they start being aggressive.

" It's alright. He personally threaten both Sablethorn and the merchant association. Even if he destroy this village he would have nowhere to go."

" There are many nobles in the area. They could seek shelter under them." Mera added. She understood what Noah was trying to say.

" That's not how that works. Sabletorns are an important cornerstone in this kingdom, other than Dukes and King himself no one else would dare to disrespect them by giving shelter to ones that tarnished his name." Alastair said confidently.

Noah began to understand that when Alastair told him about Kingdom it actually was past feudal system that he heard about back on Earth. Dukes were one level lower than the Royal family and in some cases they were extended members of the said family.

" But what if he attacks again-"

" Shh...stop worrying about it and take rest. We can devise a clear plan after your injuries heal." Mera thought it was best not to discuss these matter now. What Noah needed most was rest.

" She is right. There could be unforeseen event that's when we would need your help once again but you have to be in top condition. You have already witnessed what they could do right?"

" Yes."

Noah was critically injured just facing two young sorcerers. With how Alastair described this kingdom, it was safe to say that there were many powerful enemies waiting for him in the future. Although Flame Emperor seemed to be a big deal, he was stuck here seemingly trying to hide from war.

War was something that he was very familiar with as he was a former soldier. With the whole kingdom being in turmoil what he needed most was to understand his powers and come up with unique ways to use them to it's potential.

If he were to encounter two or more people like Felix, he was sure that he wouldn't survive in the condition that he was in. Coupled with the fact that he was constantly being healed by Mera right now which was sure a luxury wouldn't work when he eventually leaves this village.

He laid down seeing them leave. Looking at the ceiling he began to rack up his brains readying himself.
