It's not Magic?-3

"W-what? What happened?" Almost everyone was scared out of their wits. They were screaming but no sound could be heard because their ears were ringing by the sudden explosion.

They looked at Noah who slowly corrected the displaced rifle and fired again. This time they were able to at least block their ears. Even the people who were enjoying their break came to see what the loud noise was about.

Noah stopped after the fifth shot, shifting the safety and taking out the magazine just to be on safe side. He looked at the terrified expression of his students but it was an important step if they want to know what these sniper rifles were capable of and the power behind them.

" First time is always the hardest so there is no need to be scared of it." He said with a smile. It was alright to be scared at first but it wasn't the loudest of the guns, with a smooth ejection and crisp sound it was the perfect weapon for novice snipers.

" Here try holding it. Avoid the barrel because it's still hot." He gave it to Rita first. She instinctively accepted it. The gun wasn't as heavy as she expected. It was slightly heavier than rifle but still she could easily carry it around.

He also handed the remaining sniper to Cody, Julia and Milo. They started fiddling around with it without saying anything. Milo repeated what he saw Noah do and looked through the scope.

" Everything.....seems closer looking through it. Are you sure this is not magic sir?"

" It's not. These are not magic weapon. I will tell you more about it but first follow me to see the damage first." He wanted to show them the results first.

" What do you think Cody? It's not heavy for you right?" Noah asked seeing him struggle to carry it because of his twig like arms.

" I c-can do it."

" What about you?" He asked Julia.

" It's alright. It will be tough to carry it around in our hands so we will need something like a bag so that we can traverse long distances without feeling tired." She was a perceptive one. He wanted to summon special apparatus to carry these rifles but because he was short on summoning space, he had to be content with what he got.

But before the actual mission, he wanted to equip them with latest gear from top to bottom. A sturdy battlesuit that wouldn't get destroyed even when they were facing the monsters. He still didn't know what type they would face because he practically know only one monster but from the way Alastair explained it to him, henwen were top of the food chain. Anything else would be weaker than it so he could plan accordingly.

" What about us? Why don't we get such weapons too?" Tang asked. She had been meaning to but he was busy talking with others so she didn't want to interject him.

" Everyone has their strength and weaknesses. In your case, you are more suited for close to medium range encounters. Those that have good physique could at least run away so I chose them to support you from long range."

" I know but I am also good with long range and this rifle....looks much more cooler than what you gave us before!"

" Are you saying that you are jealous? Don't worry, I don't forbid anyone wanting to learn it but I have to warn you, it's not easy as it seems."

" I am alright with it. I like the idea of getting close to the enemy because I don't have the best aim." Luke said in a straightforward manner. Despite his massive build, he acted completely rational unlike the brute he was perceived as.

" But that would only leave you and me! Don't you think the power dynamic would shift to long range team-" Noah smacked Tang on the head. She had a loud mouth but she wasn't wrong.

" I want everyone to be competent enough to operate all three weapons. We don't know what will happen in the field, even if you can't fire accurately, you can use it's loud noise to scare out enemies. Beside, i will be there with you so you don't have to worry about these things." He didn't want these small team of six to be divided because of their choice of weapon.

They walked for about ten minutes to the edge of the clearing to spot the tree that he was aiming at. Unlike the noise that weapon displayed, the damage was not severe. They could see several holes drilled in trunk but when he led them behind it, they could see some bullet exploded while others went straight through to hit the tree behind.

Even Noah was shocked, these bullets were suppose to deal this much damage. He tapped the tree to feel that it was fairly hollow inside. Everything was different for him in this foreign land, even trees were not an exception.

" It's a Wallow tree. They are excellent for building ships." Someone commented.

" Whatever the case may be, I never expected it to go through one feet of wood and still come out with such a force that it lodged itself in the tree behind." He thought, there was something wrong with his weapon.

" Alright, the show is over. From this point onward, we will train all day and study in the evening. To operate the sniper rifle you have to know about a lot of things, from wind movement to the angle at which you have to aim. There are a lot of moving parts."

" Study? I think I will pass." Tang wanted to quit as soon as she heard it but Noah stopped her.

" Weren't you eager to learn it? Don't worry I will make it as simple as possible that even you lot could understand it! Come on! We have a lot to do!"

Noah wanted to held the study at night but since there was on concept of electricity or staying up late here. He need to cram everything in hour of daylight. He started by explaining how to operate the rifle and teaching them about different bullets in simple manner.

Strangely enough, it was his first time teaching anyone but he started to enjoy it!
