4 First Contact in a Different World

After sending off the wolves, Ein walked back and forth inside the marbled room, nervous. Since the wolves are outside the dungeon, he couldn't confirm their situation using the CCTV-like function of the dungeon.

'What if there's a strong species out there?' Ein couldn't help but shudder at the thought.

If his wolves really did encounter a stronger species like a dragon or a giant, then it'd probably be game over not only for the wolves but for him too.

[Death of a creature (goblin) by a dungeon monster (wolf) outside the dungeon confirmed: +2 DP]

When the first notice appeared, Ein couldn't help but gulp. Soon, similar notices went up by the dozens. When his DP increased by at least a thousand points, only five minutes had passed.

"Amazing speed!" Ein cheered. His DP is increasing like crazy.

After the DP increased by another thousand, the burst of DP stopped. 'The village probably got wiped out by the wolves by now.' Ein guessed.

An hour passed before the next rush of DP came. It increased by a few thousand before stopping. If he wanted to, he could add a new room and summon more wolves now; however, he restrained himself.

"This is a one-off income..." he muttered, convincing himself.

Since the wolves are killing the goblins, then that means the number of goblins nearby just dropped by that much permanently. If Ein wanted to do this again next time, then his wolves would need to travel much farther, losing precious time in the process.

After a few more hours of waiting, a new notification appeared.

[Death of a creature (human bandit) by a dungeon monster (wolf) outside the dungeon confirmed: +5 DP]

Seeing this, Ein almost jumped to his feet in shock. 'A human!' He thought.

Ein immediately issued an order to capture humans instead of killing them; however, six more similar messages appeared before the popups ended.

...

As the dungeon master was indirectly connected to all the creatures summoned inside the dungeon, he can issue commands even from far away. The only drawback was that depending on the distance, there was a certain amount of time lag. By the time the wolves received the order, they already wiped out the bandits. Ein had no way of knowing this though since the monsters can't send their thoughts to the dungeon master. Their links were like a one-way path; information can only travel in one direction.

The wolves were disheartened to think that they had failed to follow their master's command. The wolves quickly scanned the bandit hideout and took things that might be valuable.

One of the wolves noticed a weird wall inside the cave. It was protected by a barrier and covered with an illusion. Curious, the wolf cautiously smashed the barrier and passed through the illusion. A large cage was placed inside. Within the cage, a few figures shuffled.

...

Eight hours later, just before sunset, the wolves finally returned. Ein immediately ran to the entrance to welcome the wolves back.

Four of the wolves were carrying something on their backs. By the looks of it, there are some food and miscellaneous items. However, what drew Ein's gaze was what was lying on the backs of the two large wolves.

"Elves!" Ein quickly noticed their long ears.

It was the first time Ein saw a real elf. He had seen half-elves in the past—even dark elves in some dungeons. However, they were all treated as monsters and acted like wild beasts without a glimmer of intelligence.

The two elves, however, were wearing something that looked like armor made out of green materials. The texture looked like fibers; however, the hardness definitely matched that of metals. Knitting and ironworking prove that they were definitely intelligent species, unlike those inside the dungeons.

However, the two elves seemed to be heavily injured. He quickly ordered the wolves to move the two elves into the dungeon. Since their conditions seemed to be deteriorating by the second, he quickly went inside the marbled room once more. There, he quickly browsed the miscellaneous items and bought two healing salves and two healing potions.

After acquiring the items, he returned to the wolves' floor and applied the salves to the elves' wounds. Just like magic, the gaping wound on the elves' bodies quickly closed. The effect of the salves from the dungeon seems to be more than twice as effective compared to what the Warriors have been provided in the past.

After Ein finished applying the salves, he gently lifted their heads and made them drink the potion one gulp at a time. After a few minutes, the potion was finally emptied. Ein repeated the process for the other elf until the other potion was empty.

"They should be safe now." Ein breathed a sigh of relief. "Good work," he said as he patted the 15 wolves that went out one by one.

By the time he noticed that the wolves didn't bring any humans, Ein realized that his order didn't make it in time. The two elves should have been captured by the bandits or something. Since the wolves managed to eliminate the bandits easily, they should be stronger than the two elves combined. There's no problem with his safety as long as the wolves keep guard.

After deciding so, he ordered the wolves to keep watch on the elves as he checked the loot they got from the bandits.

Half of the loot was preserved food, just as he had guessed. One sack was filled with gold coins, and one was filled with jewelry. As expected of bandits, they have quite the loot.

What's more, the presence of coins and pieces of jewelry proves that there are civilized humans in this world. As he was immersed in inspecting the jewelry and coins, a wolf barked lightly.

"Are they awake?" Ein asked the wolf. The wolf nodded its head and quickly returned to its post.

When Ein returned to where the elves were, he noticed that both elves were poised with their arms raised to eye level. Fear could be seen in their eyes while surveying the dozens of wolves surrounding them. However, they gritted their teeth and were preparing to attack and escape if possible.

"Stand down," Ein ordered.

The wolves quickly backed away a few meters, leaving the two elves and Ein in the center. Ein cleared his throat and smiled with the most friendly smile he could muster.

"Please pardon my pets; they are just following my orders," he claimed.

The two elves became much more guarded, contrary to his expectations.

"#$&%* #($#"

The elf that seemed to be in her thirties spoke. However, the language she used wasn't anything that Ein had learned or heard of before.

'Damn, I forgot about the language barrier.' Ein cursed inwardly. Since language couldn't be used, he instead tried using gestures. After a few minutes of doing this and that, Ein finally earned some usable information.

The older elf's name was Nayta, while the younger one was named Melina. Other than knowing that they were mother and daughter, he couldn't learn anything else through gestures alone. Gestures just aren't enough.

After giving them a portion of the food from the bandits, Ein returned to the marbled room and scanned the catalog once more.

"I found it!" Ein excitedly shouted as he clicked the buy button.

A simple necklace with a half-woman, half-fish design dropped into Ein's hands. He quickly wore the accessory before returning to the two elves.

"Can you understand my words now?" Ein asked expectantly.

"! Y-Yes!" Nayta answered, surprised as to how Ein did it.

Seeing as how his words were understood by the other party and vice versa, the necklace's effect seems to be working perfectly.

[Mermaid's Song: A necklace capable of passing the exact meaning of words to the other party in a language they could understand. Price: 1,000 DP]

With this, the language barrier between them should be gone. Ein decided that it was money well spent.

"Once again, let me introduce myself. I am Ein, the master of these wolves," Ein said.

He decided to hide the fact that he is a Dungeon Master first. He couldn't guess just how the elves would react if they knew about it.

Hearing his introduction, both Nayta and Melina stood up and reintroduced themselves.

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Tamer. I am Nayta of the Fallen Leaf clan," Nayta said as she slightly bowed her head. Her golden blonde hair swayed with the wind.

"And I am Melina, daughter of Nayta of the Fallen Leaf clan." Melina supplemented, copying the actions of her mother. Her hair was a mix of emerald and gold, giving off a refreshing luster.

Ein nodded his head in assent. After their introduction, he couldn't help but check out their figures. Even though he already saw more than he needed to when he applied the salves to their wounds, he still couldn't help but think that their figures were the very definition of perfect.

No wonder bandits wanted to kidnap the two. Even he himself, who was even accustomed to seeing naked women since his time in the Warrior Project, was slightly moved.

'Men truly are sinful creatures,' Ein thought to himself.
