26 26. Ambush?

He was already lucky enough to have a system in the first place.

Without it, he would struggle to move inside the mines and his hope of repaying his debt would be greatly reduced.

Even if his system stopped working from here on out, the fact that it allowed him to escape his dreadful predicament would be worth it.

But that was just an extreme case.

Fang Yang still believed that he could use his system.

It's just that there was a condition attached to this level up that he hadn't realised yet.

But Fang Yang knew that this wasn't the place to be trying to figure out how to use his system. He was still in the mine and a group of gold eating mice could still appear at any time.

Looking at the broken and battered appearance of his skeleton's soldiers, Fang Yang knew that they were completely useless now.

But it didn't trouble Fang Yang much. His mana reserves were full and he could summon a new legion right now.

He simply de-summoned his skeletons and re-summoned a new batch.

A familiar black mist swarmed around Fang Yang as 10 pairs of bones arms crawled out of the ground, revealing 10 monstrous skeleton soldiers whose eyes burned with terrifying green flames.

With his new squad of soldiers, Fang Yang quickly retrieved the tails of the slain gold-eating rats and started the journey back out of the mine.

….

In a distant place in the eastern sector, a group of three people could be seen walking together as the heavy aura of a mid stage Qi cultivator radiated from each of them.

As the three walked, a heavy atmosphere was left between them.

Since they are all mid-stage Qi cultivators. With that fact alone, they had enough confidence to walk in the western sector to hunt some gold eating rats and look for spirit gold.

But the trip had not only been unfruitful, it had actually put them at a loss.

They had been ambushed by a group of 5 mid stage gold-eating rats causing them to flee and even get injured!

After recovering from their injuries, the three of them were unable to just leave the mine like that.

They decided to come to the much easier and safer eastern sector to kill some much weaker early stage gold-eating rats to make up for numbers.

But this was just a backup. Their real goal in coming to the eastern sector was to pick up some leaks!

After all, killing early stage gold-eating rats really wasn't an efficient way to earn money .

It was much more effective to simply kill and steal from those weak Qi cultivators that were leaving the eastern sector.

The people that chose to hunt in the eastern sector are often simply too weak to hunt in other sectors. Those people would have already done the bothersome part of exploring through the mines to find the gold-eating rats and spirit gold.

All they had to do was wait on the side to easily reap some benefits.

As the three thought about the easy loot that was practically walking into their hands, they felt a little excited and quickly forgot all about the pathetic experience they had had back in the western sector.

The three young men walked for a while before they all came to a halt.

They had detected something and what made them even more excited was that from the fluctuations they could sense that it was a cultivator in the 2nd level of qi refining.

They almost couldn't believe their luck!

There were always a few strange ones in the early stage of qi refinement that came to the spirit gold mines. But these people were always in a group with other strong cultivators that would protect them.

As for why an early stage qi cultivator dared to venture into the mines by themself, the three young men couldn't care less. All they cared about was whether this would be a rich leek that they could harvest.

The three dashed through the mine, nearing closer and closer to the fluctuations.

But as they turned the corner towards their designated prey, what they saw almost made them fall over

2nd level of Qi refining?

What bullshit!

In front of the group of three, they saw a man covered in a dark robe surrounded by 10 large skeletons and an even larger zombie.

He was actually controlling 11 undead creatures at the same time! What kind of 2nd level qi refiner could do that?

For a person to have a soul powerful enough to do that to be possible, he had to at least be in the late stage of qi refinement.

The more they thought about it, the more they felt cheated.

Trap! It's obviously a trap!

'What a scheming bastard!' cursed the young men in their minds.

If they had known their target was in the late stage of qi refinement then they definitely would have avoided him, but now because of their greed they had gone ahead and kicked an iron plate!

Realising this, the three young men became extremely nervous.

Obviously, this was a man with bad intentions. If not, then why would he bother to lower his cultivation to lure people over?

What the three didn't know was that the moment they appeared, the man they were so cautious about was even more panicked than them.

The second Fang Yang saw three mid-stage qi cultivators appear before him with obvious bad intentions, his heart nearly leapt out his mouth.

One was at the 6th level of Qi refinement and the other two were at the 5th level.

Fortunately, he was wearing a mask so they couldn't detect his panic or else he would really be embarrassed.

But as Fang Yang was watching the group in front of him, he noticed something strange.

For some reason, they seemed to be looking at him with...fear?

Fang Yang's mind spun as he tried to find a reason for his current situation, and it was then that the answer hit him.
