25 25. Spoils of War

Turning to the one remaining rat that was being besieged by three half-broken skeleton soldiers, it wrapped its hand around its neck before brutally ripping it off.

Seeing blood, the bloodthirsty instinct of the Battle Saint Corpse puppet couldn't be suppressed any longer as it let off a blood fuelled cry

"Roar!"

As Fang Yang watched the Battle Saint Corpse puppet, a slight frown appeared on his face.

Although he was extremely satisfied with the strength and combat ability of this corpse puppet, the blood thirst displayed in the moment made him feel a little wary.

But deep down, Fang Yang knew it couldn't be helped.

Although they were called corpse puppets, their true nature would always be of these corpse puppets would always be zombies.

Zombies have always been creatures that could grow stronger from the blood and flesh of other powerful creatures, so the bloodthirst and violence they showed had always been outstanding.

After being refined into corpse puppets, the blood thirst showed by their zombie nature could be slightly suppressed. It just seemed like that wasn't particularly obvious in the Battle Saint Corpse Puppet, but Fang Yang, even if Fang Yang knew this, he never considered abandoning it or even suppressing it.

The Battle Saint Corpse puppet was created in an extremely powerful and chaotic time. From the records he found with the corpse puppet, It was a period in which the most bloodshed had been seen in the history of the world. With such an environment, it was probably better for the corpse puppet to be more bloodthirsty.

But even if he didn't suppress its blood thirst, Fang Yang could never allow it to run wild.

With a cold snort, Fang Yang conveyed his mental instructions and the corpse puppet quickly appeared by his side like a humble little guard.

If it wasn't for the fact it was covered in blood, One would never be able to associate it with the mad warrior from before.

After making sure there were no problems with his corpse puppet, Fang Yang finally got a look at the aftermath.

The first thing he did was take a Qi replenishing pill.

Although he hadn't completely bottomed out of his Qi reserves, using the Flying swallow knife art and the ghosts spirit steps had brought his reserves to quite low levels.

If another fight like this broke out, then Fang Yang wouldn't even have the ability to resist for a few seconds as he did before. He would be nothing but a sitting duck.

After meditating for 5 minutes to properly digest the effects of the pill, Fang Yang had been brought back to full reserves. Without the pill, this was a process that could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 whole hour.

No wonder these pills cost so much!

If he could refine a batch of pills, then he wouldn't have to be out here risking his life for some meagre gains.

Unfortunately, Fang Yang had neither the time nor the financial startup to take such a move.

After recovering his Qi, Fang Yang did the first thing possible, and that was to check for spoils.

20 early stage gold eating rats and 3 mid stage gold eating rats.

Converted into money that was 9 spirit stones.

One battle almost doubled his monthly income.

Although he nearly lost his life in the process, Fang Yang couldn't help but feel a little excited.

The previous Fang Yang, whilst being ruthless, was extremely cautious by nature.

He never picked the dangerous gathering or hunting mission in which you had to face dangerous demonic beasts. Such a life in which you were constantly dancing with death and living life on a knife's edge could never sit right with the cautious Fang Yang.

But even before that, Fang Yang knew the actual reason.

He was weak!

His cultivation talent and level were just so weak that he dared not wander around and take risks.

If the previous Fang Yang had encountered the swarm of gold eating rats like he did, he would have died before he could even beg for mercy.

But Fang Yang knew the only reason he even had the capital to look down on his predecessor was because of his system.

Without it, he wouldn't be all that different.

Fang Yang looked towards the system panel that brought him this newfound change a faint smile appeared on his face

Name: Fang Yang

Class: Necromancer

Level: 10 (limit)

Skills: Summon Skeleton - Mana cost: 1

The battle had been extremely fruitful for Fang Yang, jumping his level from level 6 and about halfway to level 7 all the way up to level 10.

But this confused Fang Yang.

With the normal value of the collection of souls, Fang Yang knew that he shouldn't be quite at level 10 yet. The only explanation was that the value of souls in a higher stage than him could be worth more value in the system.

If that was the case, then it made a little sense.

Games often rewarded players for killing monsters at a higher level than them, so it wouldn't be too strange if his system did the same.

The thing that truly bothered him was not the strange increase in level, but the words next to his level.

Limit.

Now Fang Yang didn't know what that meant in relation to the system, but the usual indicator that showed how many souls he needed to reach the next level had completely disappeared from the system.

This could only mean that Fang Yang could no longer level up!

The second he realised this, a frown appeared on his face.

A lot of the plans and his future development path had hinged on the fact that he would be able to continually level up. With this, they would all have to be scrapped.

But Fang Yang's dissatisfaction didn't last long before he quickly moved past it.

He was already lucky enough to have a system in the first place.
