Sleep In Peace

An azure orb of light present in the void pulsed with vitality. The main eye with a golden pupil was contracting and relaxing with vigor. However, the purple holographic cube wasn't just flashing every now and then instead it was ever present and was faintly revolving.

Lines of code were being generated and discarded every millisecond. The sheer amount of data would stump any quantum computer in existence…

What was it trying to do…?

.

Suddenly, giant dragon heads burst out of the sea with a splash. They roared unanimously as they advanced towards the black orb of light but it was all for naught. As soon as they came in contact with it they disappeared.

The black orb of light was unaffected as it continued to steadily devour everything around it.

The 'book' was still faintly trembling. The size of the illusionary sea was unimaginable. It would obviously take some time to recall everything. The 'book' wanted to stall for some time until all of the elementals retreated into its body.

The ignorant Hydra's consciousness was also pulled inside. As it entered the 'books' body the Hydra for some reason felt at peace. It's consciousness faintly trembled at this sensation.

From the day of its creation it was ruthlessly plunged into an unending struggle for its survival and freedom.

It was kill or be killed in the world of cultivation. One wrong move and the Hydra wouldn't even know how it died.

The Hydra consciousness sunk into perhaps an unending slumber as it thought with relief:

'At the very least, Now I can sleep in peace…'

While the Hydra was sinking into a peaceful slumber all the while unaware of the disaster it had caused the 'book' was desperately trying to recall everything. Unfortunately, the black orb was relentless in its consumption.

The book opened by itself as its pages were flipping one by one. It stopped at a specific page. There was a rose vine drawn on it. It was faintly moving around by itself.

A cyan light diffused from its branches and roses as the vine came out of the page. Yes,it actually came out.

Even a Heavenly Painter would prostrate himself before this. This was simply unimaginable.

As the rose vine emerged from the page they didn't attack the black orb instead, they descended into the sea. The vine would force the unruly elementals to retreat into the 'book'.

Although, the elementals originated from the 'book' not all of them obeyed its orders. Despite, this the 'book' allowed them to live in the past. However, now this was fatal for them.

By now a quarter of the sea of consciousness had been devoured by the pitch black orb of light.

The cyan coloured vine descended steadily into the green sea. The sea's depths seemed to be unfathomable. Soon the vine split into seven branches. There was a giant dark green rose on the tip of each branch.

The roses pulsed with vigor. The vines travelled separately as they seven different silhouettes of unimaginable size and form.

They covered the entire sea bed as they slumbered or cultivated in their own unique ways.

The roses enlarged as they covered the massive silhouettes. The silhouettes were pulled in and the roses closed up by themselves. The silhouettes didn't resist at all much unlike their usual behaviour.

As the roses pulled out the silhouettes, the sea bed and the green sea trembled. The roses protected the silhouettes as the vines retreated back into the 'book'.

The black orb was unconcerned as it steadily devoured everything around it.

By now half of the sea of consciousness had been devoured completely. It pulsed as a formless wave of energy was dispersed. The seven other orbs also pulsed in response.

The seven of them had completely devoured the Hydra's body. There was nothing left. Not even its bones.

How come the sea of consciousness existed while the Hydra's physical body had been completely devoured?

Technically, the sea of consciousness was formed by and belonged to the 'book'. It was only residing within the Hydra.

Right now, the seven orbs were consuming the plant's and trees surrounding the valley in which the Hydra resided.

Even the boulders and the soil on the ground was being devoured not to mention the Qi in the surrounding air.

As they detected the pulse released by the black orb present in the sea of consciousness they disappeared into thin air and reappeared in the sea of consciousness.

They appeared near the black orb which used to be the size of a speck of dust. By now it had grown as large as a normal mortal's head.

The seven orbs revolved around the smaller orb like planets around a sun. They sped up rapidly as they inched closer to the smaller orb.

One by one they were absorbed by the smaller orb. By now the 'book' had completely 'absorbed' the seven silhouettes. It had stopped 'absorbing' anything else. Although, reluctant to stop the book had to in order to make a counterattack. Obviously,it couldn't be in a passive situation forever.

The black orb had absorbed the seven orbs and resumed 'eating' everything.

The pages on the 'book' flipped rapidly. Each page was filled with characters of an unknown languages and pictures of various creatures.

It stopped at the centre page. There was a circle drawn on both pages. One on the right page and the other on the left. Both of them overlapped on each other in the very middle.

The circle started to slowly glow with a cyan light. Slowly, the light started to revolve. A dark green aura diffused from it into the surrounding air. It looked like a cohesive fog. As this fog twisted and revolved it reached the black orb.

The black orb doing what it did best devoured it. As soon as it devoured it the orb faintly trembled. It wanted more.

The black orb started to revolve around itself once again…
