"The last standing", was essentially a dark fantasy novel filled with gritty, and heavy topics. Luckily, mature and dark stories were a guilty pleasure of mine. At the start, it seemed like a typical clique, with the hero being a young boy, naive and clueless about the world, tucked away in a small comforting village. However, his once peaceful lifestyle comes to a horrific end, when monsters suddenly wreak havoc and destroy his home, separating him from his family. As he grows he awakens the power of all fortunate heroes, causing the kingdom to send him to defeat the demon lord. He meets up with other people like him, those tasked with the kingdoms burdening responsibility and honor on their shoulders, forming strong bonds of loyalty, respect, and even love.

'AND I'M IN THIS GRITTY NOVEL NOW AHAHAH'

If I HAD HAIR I would be pulling it right now, how is this even possible?. Some might think it's awesome to be in a fantasy novel and all, but the reality is different, I'm practically not even HUMAN!!.

How am I supposed to live? How the heck do I even adapt to the livelihood and eat the different foods here, I'm quite the picky eater you know, Vegetarian thank you. Crap I'm starving. No, wait this is serious.

I bite a mouthful of grass, the bitter taste enveloping my tongue. Man, this suuucks, no Tv, no salads, no video games, all of that doesn't exist here, I've reached for my cellphone 10 times already!

I reaaaaaallly want to scream right now haha.

Ok ok CAAAAAALLLM DOOWN. Are you calm, I'm calm, perfectly calm, no you're not calm. I breathed in and out, my raging thoughts and beating heart slowly returning to normal. This is the reality now, I'm in the world of a dark novel, and I live in the most dangerous forest in the entire kingdom, yep that's my reality now.

To make it worse, I remember the book but don't remember the main storyline at all, I even forgot the names of all the characters. Don't people who transmigrate or reincarnate have key memories or something, but my mind is still hazy, everything just comes up blank. Now you see my predicament, I'm practically a lost duck here….well, turtle?....Lizard thingy?

I spit out the bitter grass and nestled my head in my arms, a soft sigh escaped my mouth. 'I don't even remember how I died, or whether I died...I get the feeling though, that there ain't no going back from this life….if that's the case….this really is bad'

I listened to the silence for a while, I watched as the sunset bringing forth a golden hue that settled the room's atmosphere in a tranquil essence. The reptilic birds no longer moaned, instead, it was replaced with loud crickets, hey that's normal at least.

"THAT'S IT, NO MORE MOPING," I thought fiercely, If I cant go back to my old world then I'll just have to adapt to what I am now. From this moment on I'm Yuiji, the identity my new mother and father gave me, and my new home "The Moon Forest!" I made this declaration with a fist err...claw.

Speaking of claw...do turtles have claws, I don't think so, it's time to see exactly what am I. I looked around the room for a mirror but saw none.

'Hmm no mirror, I'm sure in this world they should have something for vanity right? Let's just use the window then'

I lifted my body up and inspected it. 'Whoa, my body is pretty large, wasn't I just born though' I was about the size of a full-grown German Sheperd. My eyes trailed along at my scales, ' OOOH my vision is like super-duper clear, what do I have 40-40 vision or something' I thought this as I admired my reptile scales. However, they weren't normal-looking scales instead they looked literally like white diamonds slowly turning into a light pink hue.

'Oh wow!"

I looked at my reflection on the window and I gasped in wonder, I had golden reptile slit irises that glowed like bright amber. My head, having two small horns on both sides, curled at the tips. I turned my body around, my reflection doing the same. I did this until my attention was caught with the long slender tail that wagged slowly upon movement.

' OOOK this is officially awesome! Well, it's weird too, but super awesome haha, so what am I like a dragon? Diamond reptile or something?'

I looked at my body again, this time noticing a slight change, my body was no longer white, but instead a full light pink color. 'Ooh, so I'm not a white dragon but pink? It looks soo pretty I thought as I admired my diamond scales that shone in the golden sunlight.

' So I'm a dragon then, but mom said that her species isn't well known amongst the common people and nobles of the capital. Dragons should be pretty well known then right? There like the icon for fantasy novels' I puffed my cheeks in deep thought, it was something I did even on earth for math lessons! Didnt help at all though…

' I don't recall dragons having these types of scales though, the novel simply described them like regular reptiles with a slithering forked tongue and dull-colored armored scales for protection against daggers and stuff'.

'Hmm, I wonder if I have a forked tongue?' I stuck my tongue out, it slithered out like a snake but it wasn't forked ' oooh haha, how cool, I wonder how long I can stick it out for…..WAIT NO DISTRACTIONS YUIJI!!!' I whipped my tail causing it to give me a good stinging slap to the face.

" The novel pretty much had many known monsters like goblins, orcs, and dragons, they all had rankings. If I was a dragon, I'd be S classed so why wouldn't people have known about S classed monsters?'

Goldenstein was quite a kingdom of many prominent people if I recall, that means they should know pretty much all S class and lower-ranked monsters. If that's the case then I'm not a dragon but something completely unknown by the general public'

' but I look just like a dragon, I even have wings too" I flapped my little wings in amusement, tracing through my limited memories of the novel. ' if I have dragon scales like diamonds, moms must look like blue sapphires, that would be so pretty…..wait..' a word popped in my head 'Sapphires….Saphiras….'

" ERIEK" a voice came out as I exclaimed

" SAPHIRAS! THAT'S WHAT WE ARE SAPHIRAS DRAGONS!!' I shouted in my head.

No wonder people didnt know much about us, that's because we are only mentioned in myths and legends!
