I Accidentally Joined The Hero's Party

Living life as a normal high school student, a girl suddenly dies due to unknown circumstances. She is reborn into a new world that seems akin to a novel she once read filled with magic, ranked monsters, and kingdoms alike. She decides to live her new life in her new home: the notorious Moon Forest peacefully and embrace her new identity Yuiji, one who is not human but a mythical creature. However as time passed, her once “calm life” turns turbulent when she meets the main protagonist of the novel, the future hero. This along with the sudden disappearance of her father and the start of the main storyline causes her to have no choice but to venture out of her “haven” and interact with the unknown. With constant run-ins with the handsome and earnest hero who is quite fascinated by her, his bumbling party members who are quite eccentric, and the looming stench of blood and war brewing along the horizon, can Yuiji find her father amidst the chaos? And if she does find him, can she keep herself sane? (Note: there may be some offensive things here so don't read if ya can't take it.)Also this cover is not mine and I will happily take it down if the owner of this art steps up :) Anyways hope you enjoy!

'OOOOK! Calm down Yuiji!' I was huddled very close to Mr wall. My eyes frantically looking through the peaks of flickering fire for any signs of lingering Arachnas. Though I've been sitting here for what seems like hours, I was being overly cautious. Yep, smart choice Yuiji!

I watched as my flames were slowly dying, I've been reigniting them just to be safe, but I was really almost out of magic. If I used any more, I'd pass out and that would spell FREE LUNCH for those spiders!

So far, it seemed that the spiders considered this area as "Off-limits" As I haven't seen even a tiny speck of one coming back here, thankfully.

'PHEEW! I almost died again. Seriously, my luck has really gone down the crapper huh' I thought. I lay on my back, my eyes gazing at the dim-lit ceiling. I watched as my shadow went through various sizes of small-large due to the flickering flames. In this quiet cave, I was recalling all the things I've been through and what event led me to be trapped here in the first place.

First, I was attacked by a wolf. Then, I picked a fight with another wolf. Wait no more like a werewolf. Seriously, what was with that thing? It was oozing all that red goo and stuff and was super strong. Even the other one was pretty strong. Anyway, I fell from a cave and almost broke more of my bones. I was bitten by a big spider and was chased by its brethren. And now, I'M TRAPPED HERE PRACTICALLY STARVING TO DEATH HAHAHA!

Then, my mind flashed to the little boy I had saved, Sorren. I remembered his pretty green eyes and his refreshing scent. Instead, I'm stuck here smelling burnt spider corpses.

'Hmm, I wonder how he's doing. If it's following the novel he should have escaped safely to the capital right? Maybe he already met up with his parents! I bet he'd be so surprised to know they're alive...well missing a few limbs...BUT THEY'RE ALIIIIIVE!'

Come to think of it, could this all have happened due to me saving Sorren?.. OH NO! what if that's true? Maybe the story gods were like:

[Mono 6]: YOU! You dare interfere with thy sacred texts! Take this, DESTRUCTIVE KARMA!

'WAAAAH, I WAS ONLY TRYING TO DO A GOOD DEED! WAS THAT TRULY SO BAD!!'

Nononono I doubt that's the case right, I mean I only changed something that was pretty small, not too much like the ending or something haha.

*Gasp*

OOOR MAYBEEEE DEATH HAS IT OUT FOR ME!!!

. Oooh maybe in my past life I owed him some money or something. Maybe he felt cheated that I was reincarnated? But I'm flat broke now. Oh, I know! What if death helps me find papa, then I can give him a hefty sum!

'What would I even give death?' I closed my eyes and pondered.

[Mono 6] - Yuiji, for finding your father, give me thy soul!!!!

'Wah!? wait but I'M ONLY 10 NOOOO!'

I quickly shook my head at the thought. "NOPE CREEPY TOOO CREEPY!" Never mind asking death for help. I might have to pay the price before even looking at papa's face!

A little while passed, and my flames were now just tiny specks of light, barely clinging on to life. A wave of dizziness accented my vision, I felt like I was tipping over, despite me already lying on the hard ground. I quickly shut my eyes to stop it.

*GRRROOOWL*

'Haha, this might be a little bad…' I thought. Forget mana depletion, I might really end up losing my rationale soon. I was on the verge of Cravings. I quickly forced myself to sit up, ignoring the dizziness.

"OK" I needed to move. I chanted and made a small flame and then cinched it. I still have just a bit left, if I pace myself and not let myself get caught off guard then I can probably find another safe point or something. YUIJI FIGHTING!!

The last of the flames finally extinguished, and darkness overtook my surroundings like a wave. I took precautions, making sure to have my ears opened. I made little notes in my head at the new discoveries.

Firstly, it would seem that my flames were good enough to actually burn Arachnas. Not sure why though. I have a couple of guesses:

1 - It could possibly be due to the level of potency of the flames...

2 - It's not truly an Arachna but a new species of spider different from the Arachna species that just looks a bit similar….

3 - perhaps due to their habitat they wouldn't know how to endure fire, unlike the smaller ones that make their homes outside the hole…

4 - OR I WAS JUST PLAIN OL LUCKY!! (Hey maybe luck hasn't given up on me after all!)

I went over all of them. The first one seemed the most legit. Let's say you start out in a new video game and your only power is fire, you basically start off with only knowing low-level spells like "Fireball". The same could be said for how strong your fire is generated, it's practically super low and not hot enough.

However, as you level up and learn more spells, your fire potency goes up. In my case, I learned the final form of the fire affinity that burns the absolute hottest. Which is known as the Azure flame.

It's possible that Arachna skin wasn't able to keep up with the heat and thus died.

Fireproof doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't hurt, it just means that they can bear with it. But having something much stronger that could even affect that? Well, ya get fried spiders!

I nodded my head and continued forward. But the last one could still be a bit plausible as well, maybe certain Arachna's have different specialties to them, and those just happened to be the weaker ones. Therefore I was just lucky...

Alright! Why not experiment to find out! I clenched my fist and stalked forward. But made sure to quiet my footsteps so I wouldn't make any noise.

Sorren opened his eyes slowly to the bright sunlight. He quickly closed his eyes, only slightly peeking them open to adjusting his eyes. Once they adjusted, he gazed out the window. He could see the sunbathing the beautiful gardens in light.

He could see a middle-aged man wearing a cap watering the gardens around the Inn, various cows being led into a fence. He could see stationed horses eating hay and many young women tending to them.

Sorren sat up and stretched. He gazed at the large room and saw that Callie and Cale were still sleeping. However, Jean's bed was empty. Sorren jumped up, his heart in a panic. He quickly jumped out of bed and ran to the door. However just as he was opening it, he could see Jean's hand frozen midair as if he is on his way to open the door as well.

" Well, someone's in a hurry huh?" Jean chuckled before walking through the door. He was carrying trays of steaming hot food and sat them on the table. He looked at Sorren "What's the rush there lad, ya could have slept some more"

Sorren fidgeted with his shirt. "I thought something had happened to you….you weren't in your bed so…" Jean smiled and patted Sorren's head. Of course, the boy would be anxious being in such a new place.

" I went to get you ya breakfast, and also ask some folks around these parts…" Jean said he lifted up a letter and waved it around. Sorren recognized the letter, it was the one Annie had placed in the pouch she had given to him on the day they parted ways.

"It seems like this Anderson pride fellow isn't pretty well known...The info I received was pretty vague" Jean said. He took a seat in the rocking chair and set up the plates for them to eat. Sorren went to wake his siblings but he was still paying attention.

"Ya mother never mentioned anything about your uncle?" Jean asked Sorren shook his head. "I actually never knew I had an uncle…." Jean frowned. It was a little strange as to why Annie wouldn't even tell his own kids about his family.

Jean leaned back in deep thought 'Especially regarding the fact that...he's a noble' Jean looked down at the steaming food in deep thought.

' Anderson Pride, the head of the Pride family. He is one of the 4 marquises in the Goldenstein kingdom, but that's pretty much about all I found out. They say he keeps a pretty low profile...you'd think he'd flaunt himself like those other nobles...something about maintaining the Golden pride or whatnot. '

Jean clicked his tongue as he glanced at Sorren and the children.

'Those kids there would be considered half-bloods….it ain't gonna be easy adjusting to life there...if those grubby nobles find out about this, well they're gonna be experiencing hell…'Jean thought seriously.

The children sat at the table and ate their food leisurely unaware of Jeans' dark and ominous thoughts of their futures.
