Alen strode over to the spider's lifeless body and pressed his hand against its thorax. An intense burst of light filled the cave, causing Keira and the rest of their party to shield their eyes. When the light finally faded, Alen was grinning from ear to ear.

Laurent looked at Alen incredulously. "What did you do?" he demanded, while Keira watched Alen with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.

Alen shrugged nonchalantly. "I just inspected the corpse, and it lit up," he said, feigning innocence.

Keira spoke up, her voice laced with caution. "Let's be careful from now on," she warned, as one of their party members tended to her wounded hand.
