I'm The Tower Ruler

One day out of nowhere huge towers appeared across the world. Well something like that happened. At least that's what I think. I do not know anything. I lived my life as a demon just fine, I was human actually, but it doesn't matter much. Someday I was just sitting on a throne. When I looked out of the place where I was, I saw... Cities? CITIES? Wait where are the kingdoms? the villages? Where the hell am I? "Lord" "huh?" "What is the plan for us to kill the humans?" "What?" What the hell is happening?

Watching the city below me, I was listening to the mysterious woman beside me explain.

"First of all, I am the' physical form' of this tower's will if you can say of it, I'm your alter ego if you want to think in this way" She smiled brightly at me.

"Why are you a female then?" I asked in curiosity.

"Hmm, I don't know, maybe your inner self wants to be a woman," She said jokingly.

I shuddered at those words but ignored them, I had other issues to think about, besides the whole situation, I also have to deal with the old memories that came back.

Well, the memories... I threw them aside, I haven't lived much like a human, and I don't have any basic notions anymore, I'm too used to being a demon.

A rather bizarre laugh sounded beside me, looking at the self-demonized alter ego…

"I'm just joking, to be more specific I'm the pure manifestation of this tower's existence, see me as your secretary" She smiled gently.

My head was already hurting.

"For the time being my Lord... You should see her" She pointed to the door.

"See her?" I asked curiously.

"Okay, let's go and I'll keep explaining to you"

She started to move forward and I followed right behind.

"This tower serves a simple purpose"

She said turning on the lights on our paths.

"We must kill the humans!" she spoke happily to me.

'Well... For me to go home, so it's not like I have a choice but to obey her...'

"Would that be the case..." She said sounding quite depressed now.

"Huh?"

I'm getting confused, I have this mood disorder too?

"To be more specific... This human world is very peaceful, it hasn't even started with the 'Great Disaster' yet, the superhumans have only just started to emerge now, if a great Demon King from Hell attacks, everyone died without being able to fight back" She said disgruntled.

"Wait! What?! Demon king? Superhumans?"

I already have a little idea, but still...

"Exactly my King, for you to have been chosen to attack another world, you must have been considered a Demon King in Hell, only "Kings" can have towers, since you are a Demon, you must be a Demon King!"

'No! I wasn't! I'm just a highly ranked Devil!'

'But wait...'

'We've never had a Demon King before…'

Like it or not, I must be the best demon I came from in Hell.

If that's the case, it's fair to think that I'm the only one capable of coming...

"Doesn't that mean that I'm stuck here until humans evolve?"

"You understand fast my Lord!" She looked at me expectantly.

"Don't worry, the "Great Disaster" is going to happen tomorrow, the monster towers are still invisible to human eyes, but tomorrow, everyone has appeared in this world!"

"Are we invisible huh?"

I like that.

Even if a little time is necessary to adapt to the situation.

I need to get back to my wife and daughter, I have to get things over here as quickly as possible.

"Then my Lord! We need a few things first!" She spoke while pointing to an empty tank of sorts.

"First of all, your First Subordinate!"

Then she pointed to the stairs that were descending to some kind of end of the world.

"It's portal," She said as if she could read my mind "The intruders come from there, we need to place traps all over the Tower, that's the second thing"

After that, she pointed to me.

Turning I saw another woman, but...

Dark brown hair, very dark skin like a perfect tan, well-defined body, golden eyes, but above all...

Large ears.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen several eared demons, but this one looked delicate.

"She's the Tower's mana manager, also the one who'll do the work while the Lord backs up with your magic!"

She respectfully bowed to me.

"It's a pleasure my Lord" She had a cold tone and a cruel look in her eyes, but her eyes had some kind of ominous hidden feeling.

I ignored it for now.

Back to step one...huh?

Two tanks?

Looking back now, it didn't have one, just one tank there were two

"My Lord!" My alter ego said, "That second tank is for storing mana for traps, our fairy's job here!" She said pointing to the fairy.

I just heard about books in hell but she was a fairy.

Humans have so many fantasies about elves, but seriously this is a full-on elf.

A fairy, I've heard what a special race this is.

"Anyway, why don't you try filling the tanks with mana!"

"What?!" the fairy exclaimed.

"What are the other things I have to do?" I asked her.

She told me some steps, it wouldn't end in 2.

Furthermore, this test she mentioned could be done without difficulty, but I have some doubts.

Looking at my calm expression, the fairy looked quite shocked by something.

But I ignored her reaction, I don't know what she was exaggerating about, but it doesn't matter at the moment.

"As expected from my Lord!" She shouted playfully.

'At least try to hide your mocking tone from me…'

"Third after the traps, are the handicrafts of demons" She got very calm all of a sudden.

"Will my direct subordinate be special and will the common monsters in this tower be this demon manufactory?"

They both looked at me with shocked expressions.

"Wow! As expected from Lord!" She screamed shocked this time.

To be fair, I've managed demons en masse in hell.

To give my daughter the best education, I have done a hell of a job re-inventing schools.

Manipulating the masses to control adeptness, something I've already accused myself of, in addition to having to separate the elites from the commons, was also easy.

The moment she separated the masses of demons from my "Subordinates" one would think they were separate beings.

"There's more, I guess the monsters will be demon beasts and not real demons right?"

My alter ego looked annoyed.

"My job is to explain these things!" She screamed at me.

"No need, what do you plan? A boss monster every 10 floors? Would these be my direct subordinates?" I threw my guesses in all directions and had other ideas of what she would like to do but kept quiet.

While she was muttering, she was looking around, to tell the truth, the place was pretty neat and clean, but still old and kind of abandoned.

Glancing back at them.

They were looking at me with empty expressions.

"I guessed right?" I looked at them narrowing my eyes.

"Is there anything I need to explain now?" My alter ego glared at me with anger.

"I have a lot of questions" I answered right away.

This bit is far from all I need to know.

"Is that so~~?" She replied smiling brightly.

"Before that", I put both my hands on the tanks.

"I'm going to fill those up" I added my mana to both tanks.

"Wait!" The fairy seemed to be shouting something.

But I ignored it.

Within seconds both tanks were full.

"Alright, now..." Looking at both of them were staring at the tanks in shock with frozen expressions.

"What?" I asked.

"You... filled both of them... at the same time..." The Fairy seemed to be muttering something, but I couldn't quite hear.

"Alter ego" I called her.

"Yes!" She squealed in shock and looked at me completely shocked.

"Show me the way we'll manage the mass of demon beasts while answering my questions"

"Yes!" She seems more energetic than before.

For some reason, the fairy followed us.

"I have three main questions, with those, I'll take the rest with my idea basis" I spoke directly.

"Yes…" She looked at me, her face kind of weird.

"First" I pointed with my thumb to my back, to be more specific to the mana tanks I had just filled.

"Why are you both right at the entrance to this floor? When the invaders come, that will be their first target, wouldn't it be better to leave it somewhere safer?"

Why the hell is the downstairs stairs exactly connected to the mana tanks location?

Whoever designed such a structure had to be an idiot.

"We can review the floor construction with your magic my Lord!" She answered me excitedly.

"The ancient fairies built it this way so that the future owner of the Tower could quickly understand the workings of the Tower" The Fairy completed.

"Besides, only a truly foolish Lord would leave both tanks together and exposed like that" She complimented him with that comment.

"Great, we're going to have two separate and protected rooms for both tanks, you said it was better to keep them separate, right? We also have to change this place's structure en masse, " I said, looking around.

It's clean and tidy, but it still felt abandoned.

I don't like it.

The Fairy looked at me for a while before she opened her mouth again.

"To change the whole structure of the Tower, it should take at least 5 years with a normal amount of mana, it would take at least 10 days with the power of a Demon King"

She looked like she was doing huge calculations in her head.

'I have to break this logic of hers'

"I'll do it in an hour after dealing with the masses," I said quietly.

She looked shocked, but she didn't dare open her mouth.

Judging by the size of the buildings down there, I can tell that this tower I'm in now must have at least 50 floors.

"Second question" I looked at the wall of the Tower.

Using my magic, I created an enormous window.

As we were invisible, it shouldn't be a problem.

"Where are we right now?" I looked out the window and watched the peaceful human life down there, where there would be great chaos tomorrow.

Exploring my old memories, I tried to see some similarities.

"We are in a world called Earth, this country is called Corea" My alter ego replied.

"Ha!" A sly laugh escaped my mouth unintentionally.

"How ironic" I undid my window and asked her to show me the way again.

Seriously? Korea? The one that wrote the most novels and manhwas about towers? Was it conscientious?

It gets to be hilarious.

But how do I know about those things? Was I from Earth as well?

I tried to bring my past back to my head, but all that came up was just me.

I didn't have information about my parents, my origin, the place I lived, nothing.

Damn it...

"Third" I sighed, pushing those thoughts aside.

"I assume two things" I held up two fingers.

Both looked at me.

"The first would be, probably a minimal amount of monsters will come out of the towers and attack the human world to develop the 'Superhumans' you spoke of"

I categorically continued.

"The second would be that attack control must be maintained, you said 'Kill Humans' not 'Exterminate Humans', so we are not going to wipe out the entire human race"

I took a deep breath, created a glass of water, drank very cold water, and returned.

"What is our purpose specifically? Make humans evolve? Or do we have our own goal?"

I looked down at my Alter ego.

She had a sad little smile on her face.

"You asked three questions" She made fun of me and turned her face away for a moment.

She must be thinking about how to answer my question.

While she was struggling with how to answer me, I turned to the fairy.

"Besides, you told me that the ancient faeries built this Tower"

As far as I can remember, in the book I read about fairies.

They were supposed to be beings that sought the balance between good and evil, Fairy with golden eyes would cause evil in the world and fairies with blue eyes would cause good in it.

If the fairies managed the Tower that will attack humanity, then it will be the fairies that guide the humans in this chaos.

"I believe your thoughts are wrong" The Fairy replied.

I bowed my head questioning.

"There will be no fairy that will guide mankind"

"I see"

There's a reason I don't ask more about this topic.

Human affairs and problems are not my problems.

I have to complete my goal and return to my world.

"To answer your question" my alter ego spoke.

"I can't tell you everything, that would be against the Tower's will" She bowed her head to me respectfully.

"We could say the Tower's way of asking you for help is threatening you" She still didn't look at me.

"If you don't, you'll never see your family again, something like that" Her body felt like it was shaking.

Looking closely, she looked afraid of me.

"All I can say is..." She looked into my eyes at that moment.

"Kill the humans" She looked a little determined, but there was something else in those eyes.

"I have another question now," I said as I stared at her.

A flow of mana arose and the Tower began to change.

I have begun the rebuilding of the Tower.

Both of them started to shiver, maybe they had never felt such a source of mana before.

"Was there another Lord of the Tower before me?" My eyes turned cold.

My Alter ego's shocked expression went completely dark at my question.

This question had a lot of hidden subtexts.

If you had another one before me.

That's to say this Tower has been used before, and if it has, it's been in another world.

The chances of me not being able to go back to my world after I complete my objective in this Tower would increase.

I might end up killed by some superhuman that will be born soon.

I might end up having to take care of this Tower after I complete my goal in this world.

I might end up becoming a slave to fate, or better said, a slave to the will of the Tower.

And if I'm looking at the "Physical Form" of the Tower right in front of me.

Even though she looked like me, it still wouldn't make my empathy for her complete just because of that.

I imagine that the playful way with her was forged to gain empathy with the Tower Lord as quickly as possible so that we would listen to her without questioning anything about the situation.

And there would be another thing.

Any Lord who has anger issues would throw that rage at her.

'Killing her seems the quickest way' Those thoughts would be the first.

She looked at me, her eyes trembling and a cold sweat breaking out.

"Yes... There have been other Lords..." She looked queasy as she said this, on her face, it looked like she wanted to throw up.

By her reaction, I can guess what happened.

At that time my mana lowered and calmed down.

She looked at me, terror in her eyes.

"Good to know" I tossed it aside.

By using my mana to rebuild this Tower, I was also able to memorize the structure, so I must know more than they do about the place by now.

"Let's go to the demon beast masses that will be used as sacrifices"
