Five Days II

Zen remembered the information that he obtained from the books that he read.

The humans of the ancient era were brave and heroic. They were able to fight off the other races and managed to make the human race rise.

The following centuries after those were filled with peace. The relationship of humans with other races also improved.

Several human kingdoms were built and humanity's territory was also expanding. However, the feeling of peace and success dulled the unity that humanity once had.

Corruptions took place and infightings became common. All people care about was taking care of their own properties and taking the properties of others. Anything they did was for benefits.

Some even enslaved some creatures from other races which caused the relationship between humans and some races to be hostile. Completely making the sacrifice of the ancient humans useless.

This was followed by the war with the Ancient Evil World which caused the forces of the Free World to be weakened.

This event broke the last bit of unity that humanity had. They succumbed to their desires and did not care about anyone else

Some joined forces with the Ancient Evil Word. Some became corrupted and took advantage of the war to obtain the properties of others.

The Temple of Fire was one of the victims of this.

Of course, this was not exclusive to humanity. After all, everyone has their own desires. If one has desires, they can be tempted. And temptation is something that is experienced by everyone.

No matter what one's age, gender or race was. No one was an exception.

However, there were others who still remained true to their convictions. Even if they were the minority, they still existed.

'But now, there's another incoming war…'

Zen took a deep breath and shook his head.

'There is no use thinking about it. I'll just focus on what I can do first.'

Looking at the wall clock, he saw that it was already the dawn of the sixth day.

Zen's schedule in the past few days has been very simple. Aside from occasional sparring with Arthur, he would train in the morning till evening and read books at night until the next morning.

He would only take a slight rest and that was when he ate once a day. He had never slept which caused his eyebags to be darker each day.

Although he did not know the reason, Zen kept feeling a bad premonition that was about to happen. Therefore, he could not rest easy and instead pushed himself to the limit.

Zen opened his status window to check his gains in the past few days.

Two of his combat-oriented skills were at Master Proficiency while the other one was already close to it.

Zen remembered Arthur's expression when he discovered his progress and chuckled.

Although his skills improved and reached a high skill proficiency, he was still confident that he would be able to easily increase it.

The only thing Zen lacked was time.

Considering that it also became harder to increase his skill proficiency as it reached a high level, it was normal for him to take a bit longer to further increase it even with all the buffs that his title gave him.

Of course, if compared to normal people, this speed of gaining skill proficiency was something that they could not hope to achieve in their lifetime.

If he had fully focused on improving his skills, then he was confident that he would be able to reach Perfect Proficiency.

'Or even the so-called Transcendent Proficiency…' Zen thought excitedly.

Achieving Transcendent Proficiency in a skill will make one a Transcendent.

The Transcendents had been the main power of humans in ancient times. Humans were not talented in magic and had weak bodies.

Therefore, they chose to train their skills to the limit. They had no talent. Thus, they relied on hardwork and effort.

The fruits of their effort enabled them to fight across levels, making the humans a force to be reckoned with.

Sadly, the so-called hard work and effort that became the reason behind the rise of humanity, had become a rare characteristic that can only be seen in one out of many.

It was somewhat ironic. After all, the humans of ancient times did all they could for humans to rise. However, humanity's rise also became the reason why the outstanding characteristics of humans became lost.

When Zen first read about this information in the book, he felt that it was a pity.

He really wanted to be one. However, he had already heard from Arthur that it was another matter altogether than just gaining skill proficiency.

Of course, this would not stop him. Instead, Zen made this as motivation to work harder.

After all, even if he had been able to easily improve since he came to this world, he would not be so stupid as to expect that everything would go his way.

His ten years of suffering tempered his mind and this caused his emotions to not be easily swayed.

Therefore, his success did not cloud his mind and made him arrogant. This was also one of the things that Arthur liked the most about Zen.
