Chapter 1 - A New Beginning

June 6, 2060 (Mars Calendar) 1800 hours

In a colony on the Planet Mars, a young soldier with brown hair can be seen approaching a building through the rubble. He hurriedly climbs the building stairs and approaches an office located on the top floor of the building; he pushes the door open salutes, and says "Report".

Inside this office, a black-haired man around his 30s can be seen sitting at a metal desk analyzing the reports from the frontline on his terminal; he stops and looks at the young soldier who just entered his office and says "Go ahead".

The young soldier takes a breath and says "Leader, Most of the attackers have been repelled we are just taking care of a few stragglers that managed to penetrate the outer defenses".

"Good" The man smiles "Continue".

"Yes, all the outer structures have been severely damaged and the early casualties report puts us on the hundreds but there is a problem with all automated defenses and they are inoperable at the moment."

Hearing this the man frowned "Well let's put that on the top ..."

RUMBLE!!

At this moment the entire colony shook like a trampoline, with a hundred kids jumping at the same time far away in the boundaries, a big hole can be seen opening and from it, a giant Gate shoots to the sky.

BEEP BEEP!!

The colony AI launches an alert. "Alert extreme energy signature detected, recommend immediate evac."

Seeing the giant gate that burst out of the ground, the man frowns and reaches for his pocket to take a small orb the size of a pebble. "Just when I thought we have won." He let out a sigh of despair.

In the skies, the giant gate suddenly bursts open, and a giant version of the orb the man has in his hand shoots out and starts expanding.

Seeing this the man no longer hesitates and crushes the orb with his hand.

BOOM!

With that, the orb in the sky detonates with a bright light that expands and envelops the whole planet and destroys it.

June 1, 2049 (Earth Calendar) 0700 hours

In a small dormitory, a young black-haired man around his 20s with a slender physique can be seen sleeping peacefully in his single bed and then.

BEEP BEEP!! The alarm clock sounds at 7:00 AM. The man suddenly wakes up with sweat on his forehead taking deep breaths.

'Ahhh'

"Wha... Where am I"

The man sits upright on the bed and looks around the small scarcely decorated room. "This my dorm... Then that means it worked. Status"

Edgar saw the translucent screen in his eyes and was immediately excited "So that means that the orb I found on the ruins gave a special physique along with a way to track my progress but the parts that are locked..." He saw that this status report was very simple and merely informative.

At this moment he turned on the TV and selected the news channel "Today is a special day, it marks the first step in mankind's journey in the colonization of the red planet. The first crewed mission commanded by the youngest top graduate of the Explorer's Academy embarks on a 7-month journey across the void." The screen showed the picture of Edgar Hoover, a young man with black hair, tall, slim, and very handsome features.

Edgar looked at the screen and said "Mmm not my best photo. But this confirms it the orb not only unlocked my genes but the reaction caused by the big one sent me back in time before the mission but at the same time it locked everything because my young self hasn't even started to reach another realm..."

Edgar gets up and goes to get a shower while showering he examines his body searching for any imperfection or something like that but finds nothing so he decides to step out and get dressed. While dressing he reminisces "I haven't worn this uniform in years since we launch that day."

BUZZ!!

Edgar looks at his bracelet and sees the notification ||All crew members gather on the lounge for the final mission briefing.|| He gathers all his stuff in a small suitcase and approaches the door "So it begins, This time we will succeed."

While going down the corridor that leads to the lounge he sees two of his crewmates going out of their dorms Sara and Xavier, so he just nods at them and continues to advance.

Xavier sees him and says "The Captain is already in another world with that presence." Sara just stares at him with eyes full of something she doesn't understand.

Meanwhile, in the lounge, all the crew starts gathering around the International Mars Mission Leader on Earth, David Nusk a middle-aged man who exudes an aura like nothing can go wrong just by looking at him.

Just then the last of the crew arrives and he says "Well now that we're all here I'll not bore you with a lengthy speech, just a reminder that while all the major stuff is ready in orbit we have had a few issues with the last shipments of raw materials for the 3D Printers so you will have to control your urges to build the whole colony when you land and start with the plan of 4 phases while you wait around 3-4 months for the rest of the materials to arrive at you..."

Hearing this Edgar frowned that was exactly the main issue he had in his previous timeline while he says is just 4 months at max Earth starts experiencing the anomalies around 3rd month since we launch making space travel more dangerous and causing a lot of the supplies to be lost before it can even get out of Earth's orbit.

While Edgar is lost in thought David sees him and says "Captain that goes especially to you since the raw supplies will be limited please ensure that you have always a small backup for emergencies and make sure that the resource producers are built, that is your top priority."

"Yes, Sir I have already devised a small strategy"

"Good with that out of the way follow me to the ready room so you can get suited up, we have a schedule to abide by."
