13 The Dragon's Eye Knife!

"What is this thing?" said Venya holding a small cellphone in her hands. She didn't notice, but the device was definitely not new. This, however, did not stop her from continuing to look at the cellphone with extreme curiosity.

"It's just a Vphone." Lance spoke as he surveyed the adjacent display case, filled with melee weapons, from katanas to enchanted medieval swords. Sometimes, some high-ranking gunsmiths managed to craft firearms with enchantments, however rare it was.

"And what does it do?" she asked. "Is it some kind of weapon that you humans created?"

He stared at her for a moment.

"It's just a cellphone. We use it to communicate, watch videos, get news, that sort of thing."

She arched an eyebrow.

"What is a video?"

Lance snorted.

Across the room, a porcelain doll caught the attention of then-dungeon head Hermann. The bulging eyes and the poorly worked painting enchanted the old man who appreciated every absurd and bad detail present in the sculpture.

"Did you like our little Anna?" said a man behind the counter Hermann was leaning against.

"Yes, yes!" he exclaimed. "She's excellent, young man! The colors, the horrible paint, the crooked eyes. Just perfect!" The man behind the counter laughed and introduced himself.

"I'm Reggie. I did it alone. Nice to meet you." He extended his hand to Hermann who promptly greeted him. "The pleasure is all mine!"

"Looks like someone is having fun." Lance watched Hermann trying to buy the doll. One stronger look from the man to the doll was enough for him to quickly turn around, never wanting to face her ever again.

Lance knelt before another display case, several knives made from the scales of komodo dragons from the Dragon King's Korean dungeon. Lance saw them in action one time. His brother Ronald, before fame, used them as a trademark. Fast, static and insanely lethal. And of course, fire immune and able to protect the user from such.

In some countries like the United States – which has the largest presence of fire magic users and Church of the Demon King members – they are strictly prohibited. You can understand why.

"How much does it cost… 10,000 gold coins?!" he yelled, standing up immediately. Suddenly, the eyes of everyone in the store focused on the slender young man. He calmed down and looked at the metallic price plate, probably made of steel and gold.

It was a small town, but the high presence of dungeons near the site made it a den of luxury for hunters and tourists alike. Lance wondered if he'd chosen the wrong branch to work in.

"Can I help?" said the attendant in front of him. The nameplate on her left shirt pocket said Leah was her name.

"Yeah... yeah. Yes, you can." he looked into her emerald eyes. "The Dragon King's blades, please."

Lance noticed the look the girl Leah gave to him, looking him up and down. His wet clothes and shocking appearance didn't help sell the idea that he probably had money.

She bent down, removing the enchanted knives from the display case, placing them on the smooth wooden table. It was even brighter than he'd imagined.

A knife made from red dragon scales. Another made only from the remains of dragon nails. But the knife that really caught his eye was an emerald green color.

The knife produced by the Dragon King's own scales. 'The Dragon's Eye Knife'. Lance learned before his death that only 12 in the entire world were manufactured. The best attributes imbued. What was it doing there?

Leah caught Lance's gaze and followed him to the Dragon's Eye Knife. She couldn't stop wondering how someone like him could afford that weapon. And Lance too.

"Ten thousand correct?"

"Just the common ones. This one in particular costs twice as much."

"Twice?!" again, Lance was the center of attention.

The coin purse he retrieved from Brian Majors' corpse wasn't enough to pocket that gun. His sword, as much as it had great attributes and was extremely strong for both inexperienced and experienced hunters, it wouldn't be useful in a short time.

"THE SWORD!" he thought.

Leah was getting ready to put the blades back in place. She knew that the man in front of her was incapable of buying such an expensive product. How could him?

But then... a glow took over the store. Leah's eyes followed the light that seemed to come from Lance Fehrman's hand. Gradually, a dark scabbard, refined by gold and other precious jewels, even from another world, shimmered as they appeared out of nowhere.

The blade of infinite flames then showed itself, glowing in the eyes of everyone present. The brightness was so much that some tried to cover their eyes, but for some reason they couldn't, feeling attracted to the lighting.

Lance pushed the flames away, holding the dark scabbard in his hand for Leah.

"Is this good enough for you?"
