25 The Dictator Switch part 3

"Ding! Congratulations! You successfully copied one of Doraemon's gadgets from the future, 'The Dictator Switch'."

Upon hearing this notification, Ken couldn't help but feel an exhilarating rush of excitement. In high spirits and aiming to enjoy the scenic view, he leisurely strolled towards Nobita's house.

Despite having the dokodemo door at his disposal, Ken chose to walk as a form of exercise. He had no intention of sneaking into Nobita's house prematurely, though. Why, you ask? Well, he needed two copycat points in order to fully replicate the time tunnel and time machine. It was a logical choice.

Yet, he was glad he followed this path. Why? Simple. Ken had just gained another gadget through a seemingly casual walk.

Opening up his system panel, Ken's eyes confirmed the presence of the dictator switch. Intrigued, he tapped on it, noticing an "expand" option next to it. Deciding to delve into its details later, Ken continued his walk, as Nobita was already on his way.

Their paths were bound to intersect, and indeed, they did. Ken couldn't help but wave at the seemingly daydreaming Nobita as they crossed each other.

Inwardly, Ken couldn't help but remark, "Seriously, bro. If Nobita didn't have plot armor, he'd probably get hit by a truck."

Yeah, like what happened to me. Being hit by the so-called truck-kun.

Nobita snapped out of his daze upon hearing Ken's voice and turned to face him.

"Hey, Ken," Nobita greeted with a nod, though a hint of remorse still lingered in his eyes due to the guilt of erasing Takeshi's existence.

Curious about Nobita's demeanor, Ken inquired with genuine concern, "Why the long face? Is something wrong?"

Nobita tried to brush it off, but his evasive demeanor couldn't hide the guilt and sadness still apparent in his eyes.

Ken found himself surprised by Nobita's reaction. Something seemed to be troubling him, and the possibility of it being related to the copied gadget came to mind.

AN (Author's Note): As readers might wonder, why can't Ken know about the gadget he copied? Apart from iconic gadgets like the dokodemo door and take copter, Ken is unfamiliar with most of Doraemon's gadgets. He watched the show for fun in his previous life but doesn't remember every gadget.

As Ken engaged in conversation with the distracted Nobita, the latter suddenly posed a random question, "By the way, do you know Takeshi?"

Although quite baffled, Ken instinctively nodded in response.

Oddly, just moments before, Ken had seemed to forget Takeshi's name or any related details. However, as expected, Nobita continued walking without waiting for an answer, completely unaware that Ken had nodded.

With Nobita heading in a different direction, Ken decided it was time to part ways. The goal of visiting Doraemon to copy a gadget was already fulfilled, thanks to Nobita's unexpected contribution. Ken opted not to visit Doraemon anymore, now that he had successfully used his copycat point.

His destination was now his home, where he could engage in some exercise. But before that, he planned to check the information about the dictator switch.

...

Nobita found himself meandering aimlessly when Suneo abruptly appeared on the scene.

Suneo, baseball bat in hand and a wicked glint in his eye, jeered, "There you are, Nobita! You've still got 20 laps to go!"

His words hung in the air, accompanied by the threat of a swinging baseball bat.

An uncanny sense of déjà vu struck Nobita. It was as if he had witnessed this before – Takeshi's familiar taunts echoed in his mind.

In Nobita's perception, Takeshi and Suneo seemed to merge into one entity.

Nobita's heart raced as he attempted to flee, but Suneo was hot on his heels.

With no other option in sight and knowing he had already utilized the dictator switch, Nobita pressed the button while yelling, "Vanish, Suneo!"

Mid-swing, Suneo's suspended form appeared frozen, much like Takeshi before him.

Time itself seemed to halt, and Suneo's figure experienced glitch-like distortions, akin to Takeshi's, before vanishing into thin air, just as Takeshi had done.

The sight left Nobita filled with a deep sense of unease, his entire body tingling with discomfort.

His emotions in turmoil, tears welled in Nobita's eyes as he sprinted away in desperation.

Running past an open lot, he encountered Takeshi and Suneo's teammates, who pointed accusatory fingers at him.

Closing in, Haruo, mirroring Takeshi and Suneo's previous words, echoed their sentiments, "Nobita! It's your fault we lost! You've got 20 laps to run!"

In an uncanny twist, they seemed to step into the roles Takeshi and Suneo once played.

Fueled by frustration, Nobita snapped, "Enough! If you don't leave me alone, you'll disappear too!"

Takeshi's teammates were taken aback, quickly retreating from Nobita.

Pressing onward, Nobita sprinted until he reached his home. Without delay, he dashed to his room in search of Doraemon.

If we reached 70 PS, I'll release more.
