Chapter 38

Chapter 38

- Kha kha, Gwen... - I muttered something, feeling the incredible pain from all sorts of wounds as the suit began to cover my body, hiding my unpleasant appearance.

The next moment my body finally gave out and I collapsed to the ground, with Venom and my own regeneration working at full strength.

- PETER! - Gwen finally jumped up and clutched me to her chest. Tears were streaming from her eyes nonstop.

- Gwen... your father... is he okay?

- Yes Peter, thanks to you he's fine. - she nodded her head like a dummy.

- Uh, I'm glad. You know Gwen, I must have owed you a lot in my past life, because this is the second time I've been injured in your company. - I grinned, realizing that now was the best time to resolve all the misunderstandings between us.

- Silence, fool, save your strength. - She gently stroked my head, where the hair was beginning to grow back.

- No, I haven't finished. Yesterday, I found that thing you were talking about, and I realized you weren't lying. So I've decided to apologize to you. And I hope you'll forgive me for yelling at you the other day.

- Fool, you don't have to apologize. It's not your fault! - The girl squeezed me even harder, and then lowered her head and kissed me.

Her lips were incredibly soft, but salty from tears. But still, it didn't stop me from enjoying the feeling of the kiss, even the pain that was getting weaker by the second....

- Gwen, I have to go. - I said softly after a few minutes, breaking the kiss, and then stood up to squeeze the hand that had grown in the meantime.

My overall regenerative capabilities, given the symbiote, were staggering. Venom himself had the ability to heal, but on top of that, my own healing was twice as strong. Still, I wasn't going to blindly trust this thing. So just in case, I activated a special defense system in the reactor that would fry me to a crisp with electricity. Of course I'll get some, but even that's better than being a soulless machine.

- Where are you going!? You're hurt! - The girl jumped up worriedly and grabbed my arm with a deadly grip.

- Don't worry, I've already recovered. And as for where I'm going... you don't think I'm just going to let the bastard who threatened your father and did this to me go!?

- Uh-uh. - the girl didn't know how to talk me out of it.

- No buts, I've already made up my mind. Just believe in me. - After saying those words, I decided not to linger any longer. So transforming the suit, flew under the shocked look of Gwen, in the same direction where the Goblin ...

- Siri, hack into the city cameras and track where the Goblin went. - I turned to the AI to find out exactly where the Goblin went.

- One moment, sir. - The AI, which was getting smarter and smarter by the hour, responded.

Siri was much faster than the AI, because the city's cameras were not very secure.

- Sir, the Goblin is headed toward New Haven, Connecticut. According to my information, there is a family mansion there that belonged to the late Amberson Osborn, Norman Osborn's father. - she was quick to give out incredibly useful information in this situation.

- Well done, set up a route. We're going that way! - I quickly flew to the right place. And I had to fly eighty miles.

But that distance was nothing thanks to the suit, so in two minutes, I landed near Norman Osborn's mansion.

The exterior of the building left much to be desired. There was trash and dirt everywhere. And the mansion itself was almost completely covered in ivy. All of this combined to suggest that no one had lived here for a long time, except that my scanners showed a jet trail in the air, indicating that someone had come here recently.

A quick scan of the building showed that there was a basement underneath it, and there was an infrared trail. That must be where the Goblin keeps his ammunition and other things.

Finding the entrance, I began to slowly descend underground down an old iron staircase. To my surprise, this cellar, or rather basement, was very large. It was bigger than the mansion itself. There were a lot of shelves with old expensive wine and other alcohol, aged fifty years or more.

After turning around a few times, I found myself in front of a large steel door, similar to those installed in bank vaults, which didn't fit in with the general entourage.

The door was firmly locked, but that couldn't stop me.

Grabbing the edges of the door, I began to forcefully pull it open. Immediately there was a nasty scraping sound of bending metal that didn't want to give up. But under my incredible strength, the hinges and locks failed, and soon the multi-ton steel door fell with a loud clatter, revealing a view of a well-lit room equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

I immediately saw Norman Osborn, who was staring at me with goggle eyes.

- At last someone has heard my pleas and come to my aid! - He jumped to me at once.

- Quick, help me escape from here. I will pay you, I will give you a lot of money very much, just get me out of here! - He almost cried and fell to his knees.

- What happened to you? - I asked a meaningless question, realizing that his alter ego was either locked up or he was a very good actor. After all, the last time we met I revealed that I knew the identity of the Goblin.

- I've been kidnapped and held here against my will, I don't know why!

- Kidnapped by who?

- Some green monster with yellow eyes. Please save me! - It's clinging to my legs.

- I can't help you, but I know who can. - I answered and immediately noticed a grin on the Goblin's lips.

- Yes, and who will help me!? - A relieved expression appeared on his face.

- God, and I'll send you to him right away!

- Guiaiah! - Norman shouted and attacked me, except that the difference in our strength was comparable to the difference between the light of the moon and a firefly.

Immediately catching him by the neck, I did not bother with him and squeezed his arm hard and broke it.

The goblin immediately hung on my arm without feelings, but I was not going to finish him with a simple fracture, remembering his regeneration. So taking one of his pumpkin grenades from the counter, I flew out from under the building, and soared to an altitude of about three kilometers.

In the next moment, I activated the grenade and shoved it into Norman's clothes, throwing him far away from me.

A couple of seconds and in the sky there was a bright flash of fire, which tore the Goblin into many small pieces. And now I was sure that if his regeneration had been ten times stronger, he still would not have been able to come back to life....
