23 Chapter 23

Chapter 23

When I got home, I notified Aunt May of my return, and then went up to my room to start packing my things for the move. Thankfully Aunt May didn't ask me about how the party went, because from my point of view, it was a delightful party for me, but the details were not for the rest of us to know.

It took me an hour to get everything I needed. After checking and making sure that everything was ready, I turned on the computer and started looking for information about Norman Osborne. If he was a Goblin, I wouldn't spare him if he was the father of my friend, especially my ex-father. Especially if he's killing people left and right.

Ten minutes, that's how long it took me to dig up a bunch of information on Norman Osborne. Turns out his company was up to its eyeballs in debt, and his company was under some kind of government contract. There was no information about the contract or what would be developed. But there was information about those responsible for drafting and supporting it. As it turned out, the military was involved, and I thought they were probably trying to create a super-soldier serum. I opened the news and looked up the latest on the Goblin attack, and it turns out that Norman attacked the people who were on the government side. Oh, and on top of that, he was killing other competitors that were putting him in harm's way. After some thought, I came up with the theory that maybe Norman should have created a super soldier serum for the military, and then injected it into himself. And once he had his powers, he decided to destroy his abusers.

As I waited for the night to fall, I flew out of the house through the window like I always did. But now I was headed for the heart of New York City, the OzCorp Tower.

Half an hour of flying, and I was already standing on the roof of the neighboring building, trying to find something suspicious.

Finally, on the penultimate floor, I saw some sort of lab that was a bit of a wreck. Shooting out a spider web that caught on the glass, I started pulling it, and when I realized I'd pulled it off enough, I unhooked myself from the roof and flew towards OzCorp with a bullet.

With my claws in the air, I smashed through the armored glass like a hot knife through butter.

Once inside, I quickly got to my feet and prepared for battle just in case, then began to explore the lab.

The first thing that caught my eye was a shattered glass gas chamber, with a special bed in the middle of it with limb restraints that had also been torn apart. The next thing I saw was a corpse that had already begun to decompose, which gave off an unpleasant odor to say the least.

At that moment, my senses alerted me to the impending danger behind me, so without a second's hesitation I jumped into the air and saw a Goblin glider fly by where I was standing. Had I delayed even a little bit, I might have taken some serious damage if my defenses had failed.

- Bug! How did you find this place!? - came the nasty voice of the Goblin, who was already on his glider outside the building.

- Norman Osborne, I know you're the one hiding behind the mask. I suggest you surrender, or you'll be the worse for it.

- Norman Osborne!? That weak-willed wuss is gone! I am the Green Goblin! - outraged this split-personality individual. Or his former personality has completely disappeared.

- Hmm, you think he's weak? How far have you gotten, scarecrow? If your mom saw you now, she'd probably faint from fear! - I laughed out loud, mocking him.

- Don't laugh at me! And I'm handsome! Catch the pumpkin! - shouted indignantly Goblin, and then took out of the glider something glowing and remotely resembling a pumpkin, threw in my direction.

My gut literally screamed danger, and I jumped out of the building without a second thought.

*CABOOMM* - there was a deafening explosion behind me, and the blast wave threw me into the neighboring building, into which I flew at high speed and rammed my body into the glass.

- Ow, it hurts! - I shouted, immediately regrouping and getting to my feet, and then once again jumping out of the building, caught my webbing on the glider of the departing Goblin.

With my other hand, I released another bundle of webbing that caught on the building and served as an anchor point, preventing the Goblin from gaining altitude.

- You pesky little bug, get off me! You're no fun! - shouted the Goblin that he could not fly away.

- You're a bug, you green dung beetle! - I shouted back, and then sharply yanked his glider down. At the same moment, I released another web on the building, and thus shortened the distance. I repeated such manipulations about five times, and finally landing on the roof with my feet, I began to pull the Goblin down. When his glider was at a reasonable height, I shot a few times with the web, thus clogging the nozzles of his flying machine. The consequences made themselves felt immediately. The glider billowed black smoke and crashed to the roof with its master.

- Nooo! My Glider! You broke it! - The Goblin almost shrieked, and then attacked me.

I easily dodged his blow and hit him hard in the liver, remembering how strong his armor was. The goblin immediately flew fifteen meters away, and then got to his feet as if nothing had happened. I wasn't surprised, though; his body must have been strengthened by the serum. And his regeneration should be up to par. Especially the armor should have significantly reduced the force of the blow

The goblin immediately ran towards me, and attacked again. I decided to change the tactics of attack, so catching his hand, I tightly squeezed it, and then hit his stomach so hard that his body almost flew out of my grip. I heard a distinct crunch, either of armor or bone, and the next thing I knew, blood was pouring out of the slit around his mouth, mixed with bits of organs. The goblin opened and closed his mouth trying to say something, and then just collapsed in my arms.

At that moment, the realization came over me that I had killed someone. I felt a strange discomfort in my heart, but I took a deep breath and calmed down. After all, sometimes, killing is the only true method of getting out of a situation.

Throwing the corpse aside, I walked to the edge of the roof and began to look at the night city. It was incredibly calming.

For about five minutes I stood there enjoying the cool fall wind that blew over me, but suddenly I heard the Goblin's glider take off.

Turning around sharply, I saw the Goblin struggling to hold on to his flying machine as it carried his master away from me.

- Hmm, that's what I thought. Regeneration is present after all. - I calmly gave my verdict, not really worried about the fact that he survived. If I could defeat him the first time, he wouldn't be able to escape me the second time....
