Chapter 9

I woke up to get ready for work. Katerina only works four hours today thankfully, but I'm still terrified.

*chad speedcore music starts playing in the background*

"Hello?" I asked. It's the manager.

"Yo, Katerina can't work the window due to a neck crick, so you gotta work the window while she's at the register today. And she asked for an 8 hour shift. Have fun~"

She thinks I still like her. Manager Sakura found out that I had a crush on Katerina last year when she hired her, I've been working at Del Burrito since I was 15, and she has tried to get us together for a while. Now that Katerina terrifies me more than anything, this arrangement makes me scared.

I walk reluctantly to work to get the day over with. I really feel taking a vacation, but I only get 2, 1 week vacations each year combined with my sick days and I have to schedule a day in advance.

I get to work and man we're overstaffed for a Sunday morning. We have Ryo, Katerina, me, Sakura, AND Sakaki, the Burrito girl. If this were Friday or Saturday this'd be a perfect lineup. Sunday mornings are SOOOOOOOOOO slow. And today is no different. I think the window had 2 whole orders in 4 hours. Ryo decided that it was best to go home, he was bored so the manager let him. I have to stay though, which sucks, I'd rather be at the gym, watching anime, or headbanging at home or something.

After about a couple hours the rush comes.

It got super busy for like an hour and then...

"Hey I'd like a Legendary Curly Fry Asada Burrito and a regular Spritz please."

"We don't have any regular drinks, just diet." I replied to the lady.

"Well then a Diet Spritz." she said.

The girl drove up to pick up her food and...

It was Freedom.

"YOOOOO Denshi what's up? I didn't know you worked here." she said.

"Yeah... That'll be 11 bucks."

"Okay~ here you go. I forgot to give you something yesterday.~"

She left me her number and a 1 dollar tip. She really made my day.

"See ya later Denshi~" Freedom said, driving away.

I immediately add her to my contacts in case it falls out of my pocket, I wouldn't want to lose it.

"Who was that!?" Katerina asked menacingly.

"A friend. It's none of your business." I told her.

She scowls and goes back to the register. She's been trying to keep me on a leash lately ever since the robbery. I can't believe I forgot to tell my friends about it. She's been doing a mix of trying to get close to me and trying to boss me around. I've been uncomfortable about it ever since yesterday.

The shift ended about an hour later and I started walking home. Katerina came up to me.

"Why aren't you paying attention to me? I thought you liked me?" she said.

"I finally gave up on you, now leave me alone. You never wanted my attention and now you do for whatever reason. Bye."

When I get home I am DEFINITELY going to talk about it in the Uncord chat.

Katerina dashes off.

I run home this time and I make it in 7 minutes instead of the usual 20.

When I got home I texted the group chat, they won't respond for another hour due to work and football practice but I put it out anyway.

"Katerina has been acting weird lately, she's been trying to boss me around and also tries to get closer to me. Ever since Saturday after the robbery on Friday afternoon when I was working the window AND the register." I texted that on Uncord.

Now I feel like calling Freedom...
