Chapter 21

What I learned today is that my dad is friends with Mr. Nqaxombo, apparently they met when my dad's team went to fix up their house (yknow the one they got from the grandma). I also finally figured out how to pronounce my own girlfriend's last name (N-(smack sound)a- (tongue click)om-bo). My dad became friends with them, so they came to watch the game. When they walked in Freedom came to give me a hug and said "Hey Denshi."

"Who'da thunk my daughter was datin' yo son?" Her dad said.

"I never met your daughter myself, I just waved, couldn't really see her at night since she dropped him off and dipped." My dad said.

And that's how we got here...

At least it's less awkward now but then our parents started talking about colleges...

Mr. Nqaxombo was surprised when he learned that I didn't qualify for a scholarship, which deterred my desire for college and that I was planning on either becoming a franchisee or starting a business of something.

"Boy ya wanna work on my oil rig? You're buff enough to work on one." He said.

"No thanks, but thank you for the offer Mr. Nqaxombo." I said politely.

"You can pronounce it now? You trying to learn Xhosa to suck up to me?" He asked menacingly.

"I just wanted to learn how to pronounce my girlfriend's last name to be honest."

"Fair enough."

We go back to the game and Alekzandrya did an insane play, she dunked the ball to our really short tight end and he outran like 7 guys and got a touchdown. Hippos won 20-17 cuz of it.

After the game our dads, her mom, and my dad's girlfriend all got buzzed. Not drunk, but they were all buzzed.

"I'll take them home. But man who'd've thought our dads were friends?" Freedom says.

"That's crazy huh." I reply.

We chat a bit and play video games while everyone else got stabilized.

I gotta drive Kailani home which sucks because I don't know where she lives.

After they stabilized, Kailani just put on the GPS. I drove her home, and Freedom drove her parents home.

"Your girlfriend's cute yall would have pretty quadracial babies." she said.

"Y'know that's the second time I've heard that today." I reply.

"I've never cared, but how old are you?" I ask her. She's buzzed still so she probably will forget this so might as well right? I've been curious for a while (I said I didn't care, never said I wasn't curious).

"Aw yeah, I'm 45."

"I thought you were 25 to be honest."

"I get that a lot."

It was awkward but when I dropped her off she staggered into her home.

I can't believe my dad's girlfriend is older than him. Dvonte was right lol.

I made it home and there was my day...
