14 I Turn Into a Grape and Fly Away

Before I check out the pedestal, I first examine the guardian and start shamelessly stripping it of all its Shiekah technology.

It takes a while to delicately pry open the metal exterior of the guardian and extract the pieces, which I carefully wrap in animal pelt to research and study later.

Once my backpack is full of ancient tech, I investigate the mysterious pedestal.

I tap it and look for hidden switches, but nothing works. Eventually, I inject a little bit of mana into the pedestal, and it glows blue.

The ground begins to tremble, and dust falls from the ceiling, and massive chunks of rock collapse inwards.

The ground starts moving up, and a large circle of blue light illuminates the circular atrium where my battle just took place.

Floofy barks in confusion, and I brace myself, ready for some sort of trap.

After thirty seconds of rising upward, the chamber breaks through the ground. I blink as my eyes adjust to the sunlight and realize that Floofy and I are on some sort of rapidly moving elevator.

The strange elevator takes us hundreds of feet above the ground, and I see that I'm in a Shiekah Tower, a large structure that I recognize from Breath of the Wild, just scaled to be hundreds of times larger than its video game counterpart.

A beautiful expanse of forest and rock walls stretches out before me. Some birds fly up to the tower, surveying a new possible perch. My mind takes a few seconds to process this new situation I'm in before inferring that the Sheikah towers must have retracted back into the ground now that Hyrule is in a time of peace.

The sound of sliding stone rings out from behind me, and I turn my attention back to the pedestal.

Looking into a small chamber at the top of the pedestal, I see a yellow glowing chip and a note.

My mama always told be read the note first when I get a gift, so I pick up the piece of paper and survey the beautifully written Hylian.

It reads:

The yellow chip you see before you is a Fragment of my Shiekah slate, containing the powers of stasis.

I have placed this treasure back into this tower to return to the earth whence it came in hopes that a brave hero of future generations will find it.

All of the other Siekah slates will eventually power down, but my six chips remain working through the legacy of my darkness-sealing triforce. When they find an adequate user, they will operate once more.

Hopefully, if you are reading this, society has advanced to a place where it is ready for this technology, or perhaps you will need it to defeat a distant evil.

To activate this artifact, push a little bit of Triforce into the chip to activate. The powers of stasis will grow stronger the more triforce that you push the chip.

Be warned, once you bond with this chip, no one else can use it before your death, and many dangerous individuals in this era are searching for it.

May the goddess Hylia bring this tool to the right user.

Signed,

Queen Daphnae Victoria Hyrule, the last queen of Hyrule.

Daaaaayum! Old man Rhoam pulled a baddie.

With a greedy grin plastered on my face, I turn my attention to the chip, tucking the paper into my pocket.

Following the instruction, I push a bit of mana into the chip.

A wave of information flows into my mind, I feel like the stasis chip is an old friend I've known for a long time, and I can sense its location through a tiny bit of mana, linking me to the treasure.

I take out a stone and toss it in the air, activating the stasis stone, a little bit of mana escapes my body, and the rock floats in the air, suspended in time.

I flick the stone and release the stasis, and the rock zips off over the edge of the tower.

Yes... I'll be having some fun with this.

A flash of inspiration enters my mind, and I melt out a little crevice in my gauntlet that I place the chip in.

THE FIRST INFINITY STONE HAS BEEN FOUND!!!! HAHAHAHAHA.

Now how do I get down from this tower?

I take a few more minutes to survey that fantastic view from up here before slowly making my way down on the little platforms surrounding the tower.

Man, it would be really nice if I had a paraglider right now.

I think it's time to head home, but a problem quickly reveals itself.

I'm lost.

So, I rely on the general shape of the canyon and set out toward the more narrow way. This way, I will eventually find the little hill. It just might take a while.

I utilize the Throngle as a safety rope to climb down from the tower. Floofy whimpers the whole way from his doggy backpack, but eventually, we reach the ground.

The forest is different here. Large evergreens tower over my head, and a layer of soft pine needles covers the earth.

Floofy seems to enjoy the wind on his face from his backpack as we run across the treetops of the forest canopy.

My mind wanders to what I will do once my three years of training here is over. Actually, I don't really know how long I've been here or even how old I am.

I'm already 5'2 despite being very young, probably due to my Gerudo blood. My body is comprised of lean, strong muscles, but I don't even know what my face looks like. Looking into clear water just doesn't really work.

Laying down for the night on a tree branch, my mind drifts to all the things I may be able to do with my backpack of Shiekah technology once I reach my little workshop. I wonder if Rhoam is as lonely as I am now after being in solitude for so long during the course of my training journey.
