25 Homiesita Aquired!

After a dinner of cool simmered fruit and a comfortable night's sleep at a cozy little inn, Beetle and I make the trip to the third ring, to purchase the old embassy.

Past that is the fourth ring, which is populated by the absolute upper echelons of society, and houses the nightingale inn, the tallest building in the city as well as the Kara Kara auction, which I have had my eyes on once I heard it sold many Zonai and Shiekah parts.

The fifth ring contains the oasis, as well as the White Palace, where Gerudo royalty live in their visits to Kara Kara. I stop to take a look at the gleaming white building, wondering if my mother is in there at this very moment, before focusing back on my task.

We use the entry pass given to us by the guard at the second gate to enter into the third ring, where wealthy merchants, powerful warriors, and lower nobility live.

Walled mansions and many stores selling rare materials line the smooth street, but our objective is the new and current Hylian royal embassy.

We enter through a set of large double doors, looking out of place with our worn clothing in the sea of fine silks and jewelry.

Some people discreetly walk away from us, some stare, and a few even outright sneer in our direction.

While heading for the help desk in the middle of the room, we are stopped by a man covered in tacky-looking furs and jewelry, who looks at his friends to make sure he has backup, before speaking to us in a condescending tone.

"I don't know how the guards let people like you into the inner ring, but you are not welcome here. I, Baron Ronald Covington, implore the guards to arrest these filthy men at once!"

Some of the people around us clap for Baron Dickingtons display, and, faced with the pressure of the high-class people around them, the guards begin to move to arrest us.

As I'm about to throw a smoke bomb and escape, a clear voice rings out through the embassy, "Guards, halt! The Hylian royal embassy is a reflection of all of Hyrule's inhabitants, despite its location in the third ring. Guards, please escort Baron Covington out the door, for disturbing the peace."

While the Baron of clichés is escorted out the door, I flick him the bird, grinning gleefully. He turns red, and yells something about revenge before he's out the door

The voice saving us came from a pretty blond receptionist at the help desk we were heading for.

When we approach the desk, despite our appearance, we are greeted warmly by the smiling receptionist, "Good morning, sirs, my name is Josephine, how may I help you today?"

I let Beetle do the talking, "We are looking to purchase property from the royal family: the old embassy in the second ring."

Some merchants overhear our conversation, and soon, the entire room is snickering at us once more.

Our receptionist blinks in surprise before responding, "I'll have to ask my superior if we are able to sell that property to you."

In a few minutes, she comes back with an apologetic look on her face, "Unfortunately, we sold the old embassy to the Amorosa family a few decades ago. Currently it is in the possession of Duchess Amorosa."

Disappointed, I nod my head and reply, "That's fine. I have one last question, how much do you make?"

"Excuse me?"

"I want to hire you as the head of public affairs for my organization, the Sinclair Trading Company."

Josephine nervously smiles and says, "I'm very flattered, sir, but I am comfortably making ten rupees a month working here,"

"I'll pay you fifty rupees a month, plus provide free housing." I continue pushing my talent-stealing from the embassy.

When I see that she is still skeptical, I prove my seriousness, "of course, you will have a hundred rupee signing bonus," I say, pulling two purple rupees from my pocket.

The previously mocking rich people immediately shut up. A hundred rupees is not a small sum, even to them. Some even seem jealous of the offer that the receptionist is receiving.

Josephine seems to weigh the options in her head before smiling widely, abandoning her patient and kind persona and snatching the rupees off the desk.

She unbuttons the suffocating receptionist uniform that was holding her mommy milkers back and happily accepts my proposal, "HELL YES Mr. tycoon! When do I start?"

I knew she was a heaven-defying talent! Young Master Arjon Sinclair is pleased; Josephine will definitely be worth the fifty rupees a month.

On a more serious note, someone who has climbed her way up to a nice position in the third ring definitely has experience talking to people, and knowing how best to make them satisfied, a skill that would be extremely useful in any company. Plus, she saved my ass from Ronald McDonald over there.

With plans set to meet with Josephine at the old embassy in a week, Beetle and I head to a nearby café to discuss our next plan of action.

"Ok, so how do I get an audience with Duchess Amorasa?" I ask Beetle.

"The short answer is, you can't. Even someone like me who knows nothing about politics knows Amorsa. She's notorious for not leaving her mansion, which is located in the fourth ring, and she is immensely powerful, being the highest rank of nobility- a duchess."

"She is also extremely viscous, known for sending assassins after any suitor who comes after her looks and massive fortune. Hell, her personal militia is the third largest fighting group in Kara Kara City!"

"Alright, classic tsundere," I thoughtfully comment.

After some thought, a brilliant plan pops into my wise, profound mind, "Here's the plan; I sneak into the mansion, find the duchess's safe, grab the deed to the land, which she's probably already forgotten about, and get out. Easy!"

Of course, Beetle objects to my sound logistical solution, but he eventually gives up on persuading me to buy a different building, and I leave the café to go to scout out the Duchess's mansion. My ears pick up Beetle muttering behind me, "I wonder if I'll get all his money when he dies."
