8. pain and wane

"come on now, eat it! " silvi said as she hold a bloodied nail in her hand, it looks the same as the name unfortunately, what's fortunate though that it's smell good... like really good.

"oh, come on silvi! it's a nail! back on earth we just ate meat and bread! maybe that's a bit too specified but no one (as far as I know) don't serve a nail as a meal. "unless you're talking about metal nail.

"if you eat it, I might just treat you something special~ " oh? at first you catch my attention but now you catch my interest.

"did you know that you are not allowed to use the internet until you're a copper or metal rank? " that's a huge bummer, but copper and metal seemed like a low threshold in the power rank no?

"but copper is a low rank no? why is that beneficial to me? "

"you got it most of it right snowy, now it is true that copper is a relatively low rank but first you have to advance to wood, then to iron, then finally to copper, and that's only if you intend to go to the magica path. for the sword path is wood, then stone, then metal, there are several more that will be discussed when the recruitment day come. "and by my limited knowledge I would assume that the recruitment day is at least the same day as the aforementioned event on Terra day... wow my brain is working overtime on this.

"so... the recruitment day is the same day as that event yes? " I asked silvi as my body automatically ate something... that's actually pretty good... never expected a nail to taste like a better version of takis.

"that's right! in there you will be joining a group from your interest, just treat it like a club in college. " right... how do you even know about that kind of stuff?? alien stuff... don't think about it.

since the food taste pretty good, I decided to just not be a weirdo to it and ate the glowing orb of darkness... it taste kind of weird... and my body is heating up too...

a rush of adrenaline went straight to my head as my heart beat incredibly fast, my eyes shot up as I stand up almost immediately after eating it, I felt dizzy as my back suddenly expanded and a tear on my back is heard, I was sprouting wings and no one cared about it... this is probably a normal occasion as most people tend to glance at me before returning to their routine.

"looks like you're part succubus too... are you feeling heat on your crotch? " part succubus?! oh no...

"no? "I'm honest about it, no weird heat, no needy feeling, just pent up.

she grabbed me by the hand as I grab the remaining snack only to found nothing in the table.

"don't worry, I stored the food in my inventory. " I knew it! the moment I have been waiting for my entire life has come to fruition! inventory. the storage of god! I don't have to clean my room anymore! I can just zucc it with my inventory! that is... until I have one.

ohh! I like this one, anyway silvi once again dragged me through the street, thankfully I managed to close my wing inside my body... I don't know how but it just happened, so... if it's not broke don't fix it.

finally after walking for a bit we arrived at the most out of place building, it's just your regular building on EARTH, it's literally just that! and it doesn't help that the surrounding is a medieval town looking environment! it sticks out like a sore thumb!

the building itself looked like your boring science building that takes sample for some research or something, actually it looked pretty close like the building I signed up to be a volunteer on some social research.

don't know what they did though, they just asked us to sit on a chair for an hour doing nothing, and free two hundo right there, I miss it when money is easy to get.

the weirdest part of it are when they emailed me to ask for some sort of headache that may happen, pretty sure it's just a scare thing though since there's no way the most advanced medical research in the whole world, corsair to email me PERSONALLY, what a funny joke...

ah shit! I got distracted again! okay let's review what happened, first we went inside and... there's some capsule thing... oh my god, it's fucking VR isn't it... I knew it! it's VR! yeah!!! whooo!!!!!!

"your problem are what the adventurer calls waning, basically your brain experience a huge trauma either from a recent or very distant trauma, this trauma deletes your memory of that trauma making your brain unstable and your body who have developed a clear disgust or hate to it—doesn't know what to do, and in turn sometimes disconnect, this actually lower your mental resist for quite a huge chunk. "I had enough trauma already and you said I had a worse one, that's in fact so bad—my mind just deleted it... I hate my childhood.

"Terra has managed to create a cure for this waning as well as a fighting simulation, usually the waning subjects has to defeat their own demon, literally and figuratively. " so I could defeat my childhood? great!

"so... I get in the machine or? " I can't wait to finally get this weird brain disease off of me, it's a hard life when you accidentally stab yourself or had a stomach problem without experiencing pain... now that I think about it, when was the last time I feel pain? unless you're counting that experiment... just having the feeling of pain for a hot second and then nothing but the feeling of your own guts and stuff moving inside your body is not healthy.

"yes, get into the machine and defeat your demon, best of luck! you'll need it. " she mouthed the last part quietly as I went in the machine.
