Chapter 48: Protect the earth

King Cold's ship landed tens of kilometers away, before the perplexed look of Piccolo, Tenshinhan and those who were in the watchtower.

"F-Frieza's father?" asked Krillin backing away from the fear that had invaded his body, "Without Goku and Gohan...it's over!"

Krillin fell to his knees taking both hands to his head, Chiaotzu looked at Tien who was worried about this situation.

"Even if our powers have been awakened, we won't be able to defeat that monster!" Tien cried helplessly.

"Hey Kami-sama, couldn't we use the Dragon Balls to bring either Goku or Gohan?" Yamcha asked hopefully.

Piccolo looked at Kami with his fists clenched, as much as he hated to assume that would be the only option if they wanted to survive this threat.

While his power had increased to impressive levels, it was nothing compared to the monstrous Ki Frieza's father had.

"I would also like one of them to be here, but they are facing Frieza on Namek" Kami answered seriously.

Yamcha closed his eyes in great frustration and Tienshinhan lowered his shoulders in defeat at such words. And Krillin sank even deeper.

"In addition to Frieza's father, there are four other incredible energies by his side" added Tienshinhan looking at them, "We can fight against them!"

"Yes, but against the other it's practically impossible" Krillin killed the spirits with his words and Tienshinhan clenched his fists.

"We can't wait here without doing anything! Even if Goku isn't here we have to protect the Earth" Yamcha yelled looking at his friends.

He didn't want to die again, he wanted to fight to protect the planet from him. That was why he had trained with King Kai… this time he would be helpfull!

Kami started to walk around thinking about what options they had. Right now, only one thing came to mind. He had no other.

"There is one last option... assimilation" said the Guru, "With the other half of Kattatsu's son and with Nail here it's still possible to save the Earth"

"My name is Piccolo, and what is this assimilation all about?" asked the Namek looking at him with his arms crossed. He was something curious.

"It's about combining the power of one or more namekians in a single individual" Nail intervened and everyone was stunned by his statement.

"Exactly, it is much more effective on warrior class Namekians, such as Nail and you" Moori added with an enthusiastic smile.

They both had incredible powers, so an assimilation between the two of them would give rise to the strongest Namekian in the entire universe.

Both Piccolo and Nail were of the warrior class, so an assimilation between the two would add their powers and quintuple them.

If the assimilation were to occur between different classes of Namekians, it would only double the sum of the powers unlike before.

That is why the compatibility of those who executed the assimilation was important. Moori had mentioned Piccolo and Nail for that reason.

"Oh, that sounds impressive! With so many Namekians...there is still hope!" Krillin stated more optimistically than he did a while ago.

Tienshinhan looked at Chiaotzu enthusiastically and Yamcha smiled. Kami, on the other hand, looked at his counterpart with concern and expectation.

"No thanks, I don't want my personality to mix with someone else's" Piccolo rejected this alternative leaving everyone surprised.

"No, whoever assimilates with you will increase your power. Your personality will remain the same after assimilation" Nail challenged.

Piccolo stared at Nail and Nail did the same. Krillin looked at them both with a nervous smile, not knowing what was going to happen.

"Piccolo…" Kami muttered hesitantly.

"Is there any guarantee that he can beat Frieza's father with that assimilation?" Piccolo asked looking at Nail, who smiled after hearing him.

However, the one who answered was the guru. "Let it unleash the power within you. If you were to unite with Kattatsu's son again, your power would become..."

"No way! I don't want to be one with that guy again" Piccolo cut off the Guru's words, "Fine, I'll accept that you release my hidden power"

He had witnessed the amazing increase in power that Krillin and the others suffered, so in him such an increase should not be less.

'That's why Gohan's power increased so much, now you'll see brat! I'll become stronger than you can imagine' Piccolo thought enthusiastically.

The Guru placed his hand on Piccolo's head and immediately the Namekian's body began to expel a white aura of energy.

"So much strength... and to think that if you hadn't split you would have even more power" declared the Guru as he brushed his hand away from Piccolo's head.

Piccolo looked at his hands in amazement, not believing the extraordinary amount of power that was running through his being at the moment.

"It's incredible... I never thought that Piccolo could become so strong" Tienshinhan was perplexed and the rest of those present were surprised.

"Now I'm more curious to know how strong he would become if he joined Kami-sama again…" Krillin gawked.

"We have to act fast... before they destroy everything, the dragon ball are right here in the watchtower!" warned Kami looking at everyone.

Gohan stopped them from scattering after using them. So they had been kept there ever since, which was beneficial.

"Okay, let's do the assimilation at once!" Piccolo looked at Nail, "And I hope it's not a hoax or you'll regret doing it"

Nail looked at the Guru, whom he protected throughout his life. He couldn't just abandon him like this despite the threat they faced.

"You are free to do it Nail, you have served me very well for years, but my death is near and I will leave this world" the elder Guru uttered.

All the namekians lowered their heads at his words, since it was the patriarch who gave them life after the climate disaster on Namek.

"G-Guru... if you go, then there will be nothing left to tie me to this world" Nail approached the Guru, "If you go... I'll go too"

"I am proud of the warrior that you have become Nail" declared the Grand Elder Guru putting his hand on Nail's head, who smiled.

"Nail..." Dende muttered with his head bowed.

"Don't worry Dende, I will always live in your memories, be a good boy" Nail spoke with a big smile and patted the little boy's head.

"Yes!" The boy agreed with tears in his eyes.

Nail broke away from him and walked over to Piccolo. He knew that assimilation was sorely needed if they were to defend Earth from this threat.

"Okay, put your hand on my chest so we can start" Nail indicated seriously, "I hope you finish that monster... I trust you"

"You don't have to tell me! If I don't do it, the Earth and the other planets are doomed to disappear" Piccolo replied with a grimace.

Nail smiled at his words. When Piccolo put his hand on Nail's chest his body was surrounded by a sparkle for a few seconds.

Until he finally disappeared from the place, he had assimilated with Piccolo, who was looking at his body without believing the power he had achieved.

"Piccolo's power has increased so much in just one day" Krillin laughed nervously and the Namek looked at him immediately, "W-well I..."

"We have to go" Piccolo said walking towards the edge of the watchtower, "Hide your Ki, remember the devices that the Saiyans had to track us"

"Yes, it's correct!" Yamcha exclaimed nodding as he remembered Nappa and Vegeta's scouters, "Alright Kami-sama, we'll go protect our planet!"

"We will do our best!" Tienshinhan clenched his fists and Krillin nodded enthusiastically.

They all jumped off the lookout and flew towards the battlefield. Master Korin gave them some hermit seeds for the fight.

And meanwhile, King Cold was sitting on a big throne in his ship and the Ginyu special forces were facing the demon of cold.

"It's a small planet but not bad at all" King Cold uttered smiling, "So what is the highest power level on this planet?"

The white-haired and tan-skinned man turned on his scouter to detect the powers.

"There are various energies coming this way, the highest is 17,500 units" Jeice commented with a sneer.

"Only? I thought there would be something more fun in this place" Reecome shrugged in disappointment at that level of power.

"That's a lot considering they are insignificant earthlings" King Cold smiled arrogantly, his power rising in the millions!

Although the prodigy of the family was Frieza, he too had been born a mutant who had to compress the monstrous power inherent in him.

Frost demons like Frieza and him were born with great power that they couldn't control as it was an inordinate amount.

And thus, they devolved his body into successive forms until they were able to control his power, a total of four forms.

As he was engaged in trading planets, he decided to adopt his second involution, which gave him a much more imposing appearance.

"Well, we'll have to go see the welcoming committee they've prepared for us" declared the blue alien named Burter.

"Okay, get the dragon balls Frieza longs for" ordered King Cold drinking his glass of red wine very calmly.

After all, there was no one in this world who could stand up to them. The four soldiers left with the same confidence as Cold.

They stood on a hill near the valley where the ship had landed, everyone was thinking where to look for those spheres.

"The earthlings will be here in a few minutes, we'll ask them about the Dragon balls" Jeice stated with a smirk.

"Good idea! I doubt they won't talk with how weak they are" Burter mocked getting some laughs from Jeice, Guldo and Reecome.

"Haha, I wish the captain was here" Jeice spoke with a smile and suddenly his scouter beeped, "Oh look, there they are"

Jeice pointed out five silhouettes in the sky and they landed in front of the Ginyu special forces, the Z fighters came to protect the planet!

Krillin looked at the four of them with a frown, at another moment he would tremble with fear but at this point he had nothing to fear.

"It seems you were waiting for us" Piccolo was the first to speak, and soon the Ginyu forces noticed that he was different.

"A Namekian? That explains why he has such a high level" Jeice spoke looking at Piccolo, "The others only have very low levels"

"We want the dragon balls! And if you don't want to die, you better bring them to us quickly" Reecome commented smiling.

"I'm afraid they'll have to force us the hard way" Piccolo spoke, smiling calmly.

"That's right, we're not willing to cooperate with evil beings like you" Yamcha got into a fighting pose ready to defend the Earth.

"Looks like you want to die... I'll fight the Namekian!" Jeice took a step forward but his friends looked at him when they heard him.

"What? I'll fight him!" Burter interjected.

"No! I'll be the one to do it!" Reecome spoke.

"It is unfair!" Guldo also wanted to participate.

"Well, we better play rock, paper and scissors to solve this" Jeice proposed smiling and the others showed his approval at this.

"Rock, paper, scissors!"

"Rock Paper, scissors!"

The Z fighters had a drop of sweat on their heads seeing this, were they drawing lots with whom they were going to fight? Simply ridiculous!

"Well I won!" Reecome trumpeted with a smile, "Namekian, you will be my adversary! I hope you can at least entertain me"

"I'm not interested in fighting you, you're very... weak" Piccolo refused crossing his arms.

"I'm pretty weak?" Reecome pointed to himself in surprise, "Heard that folks! He said I'm too weak!" he spoke with laughter.

"He seems like he knows how to tell good jokes, in any case I'll fight that man in the orange suit" Jeice declared pointing to Yamcha.

"Me with the bald dwarf" Burter said with a sigh.

"And me with the other dwarf" Guldo crossed his arms looking at Chiaotzu, who backed away somewhat fearfully but Tien comforted him by smiling.

"I'll fight the big guy, I'll start" Tienshinhan stepped forward clenching the knuckles of his fingers, "Hey, you can attack me now!"

"You can Tien!" Chiaotzu encouraged him and the others did the same. The Ginyu forces scoffed at how pathetic his power levels were.

"He's barely close to 5,000 units, do you think he's a match for Reecome?" Jeice couldn't help but laugh.

Seeing that Reecome didn't attack, Tienshinhan flexed and clenched his fists. The time had come to show his true power.

"HAAA!" Tienshinhan shouted releasing all his energy in an explosion of aura that enveloped his body, the scouters began to resonate.

10,000… 15,000… although it was surprising how much power it was still something they could handle. However, everything got out of control.

"Over 40,000 units?! This has to be a mistake" Jeice yelled with wide eyes, "And it's still going up! W-what's his limit?"

"D-definitely a breakdown, i-it's impossible for an earthling to have 50,000 units!" Burter exclaimed in bewilderment.

Reecome, just like his companions, was detecting the amount of energy that Tienshinhan released. His face had lost its color.

His own power was 45,000 units… that meant this man was stronger than him! And therefore stronger than Jeice and Burter.

"Here I come, get ready!" Tienshinhan exclaimed before flying towards Reecome at incredible speed, it was the fruit of his training!

PAM!

Tienshinhan hit Reecome, who crossed his arms to block him, but Tien's force dragged him tens of meters inescapably.

"Reecome of the Ginyu Special Forces!" The man made a strange fighting pose and opened his mouth as wide as he could, and shouted: "Reecome Eraser Gun!"

A blast of energy shot out of Reecome's mouth and flew towards Tienshinhan, who barely flinched at the impending blast.

BOOM!

The attack hit him creating a layer of smoke. Jeice and Burter flashed smug smiles just like Reecome himself.

But behind the smoke, Tienshinhan's silhouette showed no scratch. Reecome's jaws dropped seeing that he had missed.

"Now it's my turn" Tienshinhan said seriously. He was going to end this fight.

"You're an idiot Kakarot!" Raditz yelled with his arms crossed looking at his brother, who was now in the alien body of Captain Ginyu.

Goku had been fighting him with no problem and even used the Kaio-ken to push Ginyu back, but that situation changed.

Ginyu injured himself and suddenly did a very strange technique that allowed him to switch bodies with Goku a few moments ago.

"Raditz... I have to get my body back immediately" Goku spoke slowly as he landed and sat on a boulder.

"This body... 200,000 units... are mine!" Ginyu exclaimed with a smile but a burst of energy alerted him, "Oh, do you want to challenge me?"

"You're not even a challenge to me" Raditz stood in front of Captain Ginyu, "Kakarot, I think I'll go a bit too far with your body, sorry haha"
