I'm Finally a Tree, But Why am I a Demon Lord

Botanist Satoshi Ki suddenly dies, meets a God, and got reincarnated as a tree. Or so he thought (on hiatus) Disclaimer: This novel follows a (kinda) omniscient pattern or when the author scrutinizes the characters to get a deeper knowledge of them and the world so if you are the type of reader that only wants to see the mc, you've been warned ;)

Demon Lord Graslis

It's an eerily silent night at Demon Lord Graslis's manor.

One can only hear the loud caws of crows, the terrifying howl of wolves, and countless other critters as they are feasting on the humans impaled on stakes just outside the manor's gates... They are probably those servants that talked back to Graslis or even dared to sleep when it's not time to sleep, or maybe they got disgusted by Graslis when they would watch him slowly cutting the skin out of a living person.

And on the third floor's balcony, one can see a well-built man donning a matte black robe and burgundy colored lips, smiling as his sharp jawline shined in the moonlight. Sipping deep red wine from a crystal glass while his other hand with silk white gloves is on his back.

"Oh, what a sight~" he sighs as his gleaming eyes look down on the humans getting whipped in the manor's courtyard which remains spotless without a single drop of blood, even if the humans are quite obviously bleeding to death.

After a few moments, the man on the balcony slowly raised his pointed eyebrows then gracefully stretched his arm from his back to his side, as if inviting someone to dance.

With his hand held out, another hand reached and took his hand as if accepting the invitation, then whispered, "What a fine night, Lord Graslis".

"Indeed it is, Kalgar," Graslis chuckled as he took a sip of the wine on his other hand.

As Graslis was speaking, a man adoring a very long coat dark as the night came out of the shadows behind him.

"How is my brother?" Graslis asked.

"He escaped the manor as it burned down."

"I see, how did he escape from you?"

"His subordinates were powerful, they bought a lot of time for his soul to be extracted," Kalgar reluctantly replied.

"Extracted?! So I assume his body is intact?!" Graslis asked, elated by Kalgar's announcement. His smile widened, revealing his sharp canines still dripping with blood

"Yes, My Lord, his body is being transported here through an underground route by the Earth spirits to ensure safety." Kalgar replied with a relieved smile.

"Earth spirits?! Is this an insult to my brother, Kalgar?" Graslis exclaimed, rather appalled as he took a glance at Kalgar, "You better make sure his body won't be touched by a single dust of dirt, Kalgar," Graslis scolded with a displeased look on his chiseled face.

Hearing that, Kalgar's face became serious as he replied, "Yes, My Lord it is protected by an enchanted coffin."

Then, Graslis turned to Kalgar, his footsteps giving away loud echoes albeit only having stepped twice.

He took his right hand from Kalgar's grasp and gently stroked Kalgar's face.

"You never fail to amaze me, Kalgar",

To which, Kalgar simply replies, "It is but my task as your loyal servant, My Lord."

"That is why I like you, Kalgar. You are a man of focus" Graslis exclaimed then added "commitment, loyalty, and sheer indomitable will. Unlike these humans, all they do is laugh. They scream, they dance, and they flee." Graslis said while radiating emotions pure of hatred, disappointment, and loathing.

"It is my honor to receive your praise, My Lo-" Kalgar interrupted himself as he put a hand over his ear for a few minutes. "It seems your highness's mighty army of the undead have found where they are hiding."

"His subordinates are very stealthy... How did you know?" Graslis asked as he squinted his eyes whilst looking at Kalgar.

"A very strong pulse of mana exploded from a forest heart, and it is of his magic's type." Kalgar replied

'Powerful?' Graslis asked himself in deep thought but then dismissed it right away.

"I see. Go then, Kalgar. Bring my brother's soul to me as I shall punish these playful Gods."

"As you wish, My Lord."

Right after Kalgar left, Graslis slowly closed his eyes, a deep red halo radiating from him, his elegant snow-white hair drifting in the heavy evening breeze. He then clenched his fist so hard that it oozed crimson blood.

Looking up at the night sky with a face of fury and hatred, he muttered, "These mischievous Gods..."

*Satoshi's perspective*

"Wow, I'm useless," I mumbled to myself as I watch my followers disappear from my sight.

I really need to pick up the pace.

I can't always rely on them to protect me… Or... can I?

No, that would be immoral.

When did I have morals?

Ughhh, this is so hard. I tried saying the names of the abilities repeatedly last time and nothing happened.

Should I have them teach me?

No, they're fighting.

What do I dooo?!

Nani???

Lesser Weakening?

What does that mean? Am I able to cast magic now? Cool!

Should I try? I should, hehe.

I cleared my imaginary throat -- wait, come to think of it, have I only been speaking with my mind? I mean… it feels like I'm speaking with a mouth and everything feels like I have an actual body… I can feel my stomach and I can feel that I'm always full...I can feel every root and branch inside this bleak and dark hallway as if they are my arms and legs… I'll think about this later, I should see if I can use my abilities.

After clearing my imaginary throat, "Nature Magic!" I shouted, and after saying that, I felt everything become heavy and started to feel weird. But then, with a whoosh of a crackle, a sharp whiz and a loud gush, a swift lime-green light slowly formed out of thin air and before long, started to encompass me, providing light until I can see everything inside the dark hallway. While the light was circling me, I was awestruck.

'Is this magic?' I pondered, 'It's so beautiful'

After a few moments, the light that was surrounding me slowed down then went through the long passage in front of me. This room, that I initially thought to be a bland combination of red and black, became an elegant and very scenic green and white with a door leading to a hallway which, I think, leads to the outside.

I… I don't know what to say. In front of me is a place gleaming with life. There's like fireflies now! Where were they before when it was dark? The walls and the floor of the room is lined with roots, leaves of different colors and types, most of which, I do not know of.

After probably an hour of absorbing the sheer beauty and blissfulness of the scene in front of me, I asked myself, is this all I can do?

Well, not that I'm complaining.

After breathing, I roared "Nature Magic!"

Directly after casting that, the tree that sheltered Satoshi's soul shook. Releasing magic that a Forest Heart should not be able to release. This did not only alarm the creatures of the forest, but also his followers and the undead who are soon to clash.
