I'm Finally a Tree, But Why am I a Demon Lord

Botanist Satoshi Ki suddenly dies, meets a God, and got reincarnated as a tree. Or so he thought (on hiatus) Disclaimer: This novel follows a (kinda) omniscient pattern or when the author scrutinizes the characters to get a deeper knowledge of them and the world so if you are the type of reader that only wants to see the mc, you've been warned ;)

"Noo!!! I'm not joking!" I waved my hand, "You can carry me as a plant!"

"How would we do that?" He replied, still laughing.

"Well, I could transfer myself on the consciousness of a small plant, and you can make something to place me in!"

"Like what?"

"I don't know… anything that you can put a whole plant in, together with the roots."

"Roots?" They both asked.

"Wait, you don't know what roots are?"

"What are those?" Reyna asked, walking in front of...me. "Are they weap—"

"Put on some clothes Reyna!" I shouted looking away from her. Hearing a cute 'oh' afterwards.

"So..uh, w-what are roots?" She asked, now wearing the extra layer of barely-alive cloth from Fern.

"Roots are like…" I picked up a flower, bringing the roots as I lifted it. "See these? These are roots!" I lectured them, pointing at the base of the plant.

"That's not a root." Reyna refuted.

Wow. I have never felt more offended. "W-well then, what are these-e-e" I spoke, sliding my hands across the root pastas.

"The foot?" She answered as she stood up, coming closer to me. Then she pointed at the stem, "This is the body"

wHAT?! THE BODY?! OH WOW

THEN SHE POINTED AT THE FLOWER CALLING IT THE HEAD

THE HEAD?! SERIOUSLY?!

"EHEM, who...who exactly taught you that… Reyna?" I asked, drawing my face closer and closer to her.

Without a single drag of hesitance, she answered, "The Kingdom's alchemist."

Alchemist?

"And where did he get that knowledge?"

"His own study of plants."

"He studies plants?"

"Yes."

"And you call him alchemist?"

"Yes."

Wow. What sacrilege. And she did not even blink. Not a single hint of hesitation.

"Well, I study plants too!" I shouted, "And I call myself a botanist!"

"But don't you study life?"

"Why?" I asked, furthering myself from her and making my way to the entrance.

"Because it's your magic?" She replied, her head following me as I walk.

"Who decided that?"

"Well…"

"No one!" I yelled. "So no, I don't study life, but I study plants!"

"Well then, whatever you want." She replied before lying down.

It seems she's kinda mentally recovered as well… That's nice.

"Hey Fern!" I shouted at Fern who's been lying at the grass.

"Yes?"

"Mind coming out?"

He took a deep breath, then replied, "Okay, sure…What do I call you?"

"Hmmm, call me Abie—no, call me Satoshi."

"But aren't you Abies? I was asking if I should refer to you as Demon Lord or not…"

"No, no Satoshi was my name before I got here. " I replied, waving my hand. "And plus, Satoshi sounds less edgy than Abies."

"Edgy?"

"Never mind, let's go outside."

I waited for Fern at the entrance, sliding his hand across the plants on the walls of the hallway as he walked, taking his time.

"So, what do you want to do?" He asked me.

"Just follow me." I signalled him to come, as I walk outside the

We walked along the lively forest eventually finding a river and waltzed across the muddy riverbank, surrounded by the chirps of different birds, the flowing of rivers, the wind whistling among the leaves. Eventually, we stopped. Sitting at the place where we spent the night before.

Fern looked at me then asked, "What are we doing here?"

"To admire the forest."

"Why?"

"Because we will be leaving soon, right?"

His look at me deepened, "You… you were actually serious about that?"

"Why?" I shrugged "You thought I wasn't?"

"Well, I've never heard a Demon Lord become as vulnerable as a potted plant….But to think I will be carried by one is — I don't know." He continued speaking, looking at the flowing river. "But if you really want to go with it, then sure."

"Sure what?"

"Sure, I can be your envoy." He smiled.

"R-really?!!"

"Yeah! To be honest, I've never really explored outside the places that the Church orders me to go to."

"What do you mean?"

"Well to start, they inserted insects in our souls to know where we are. But, since I've already technically died, the thing is not there anymore."

"So??"

"So I could go wherever I want now!" He suddenly stood up and jumped.

"That's cool!" I stood up too, "So, where would we go first?"

"I don't know really…" He said, slowly entering the river. "But I know that there's a kingdom where everything is made of gold…"

Everything's made of gold?! What?!

"Everything's made of gold?"

"Yeah!!" He yelled, stretching his arms into the sky.

"How did that happen?"

"Who knows?" He shrugged, "I don't even know if it exists! All I know is… It's the work of the Gods."

"The Gods again? Seriously? Can't we talk about something else?"

"Well, Satoshi, if you want to explore the world, you would have to know about Gods at some point. " He replied, going even deeper into the river.

"Why?"

"Because it's inevitable, Satoshi. They make kingdoms rise, they make empires fall, they can create powerful creatures on a whim or, curse something that it barely functions… like that weaver who they turned to a spider because she boasts her weaving"

Wow, isn't that pretty shallow?

"That really happened?" I followed him to the river.

"Yes, she lives on top of mount of the Haldow's summit."

"Okay, enough of that, when do we leave?"

"No, we won't leave yet.", he stood up. "Let's go to our camp first."

"The one outside the forest?"

"Yup. Let's go."

"You two wait for me, I'll stay here for a while." I replied, lying down on the riverbank.

"Okay then, I will call Reyna." He sighed, walking back to the chamber.

I lied down there on the wet mud, though it never dirtied me. Staring at the beautiful crowns of trees that rustled with the wind and every other time, a deer would jump the river and under it, fishes would flap. For now, I'm at peace. My surroundings have taken my sorrows, filling it with calm and quiet. If only my life could be like this… Well, it could be.

Maybe on Earth, I would have loved this life. But here… I don't think so. I want to see this world and about its own system of science, Magic.

And It's fricking 3x bigger than Earth!

Could there be oversized Venus Flytraps? Maybe other predator plants? What if they're conscious? A conscious plant would be really cool… What if I fertilize a plant with my fruit? I should try that! Should I try it no—

"My Lord?" A female voice came from behind me.

I cocked my head backwards, digging it deeper into the mud. Then what I saw is… Beautiful?

It had a beautiful mask and a snake-like body adorned by—wow those are really healthy leaves.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Nothing, My Lord. I just, uhm, I just want to ask something…. My Lord."

She calls me lord… is she another subordinate?

"What is it?"

"Can you include me in your adventures?"

"What?" I questioned, looking straight at…her?

"It is fine if you don't allow it! My Lord!" She screamed

"No, no, no, it's not that. Why do you want to come? And what's your name?"

Then she quickly replied, "My name is Anwen, and I have come to serve you, My Lord."

"Why?" I slowly sat down. "Don't you want to be free?"

"But My Lord, I've lived freely for too long."

"And is there a problem with that?"

"It's...excruciating, My Lord."

Excruciating? I faced my body towards her, and wow, she's huge. But Bettu's probably bigger… Maybe? She might be longer though.

"Why is it excruciating?"

"Because it is without purpose, My Lord." She answered, "I was born to serve but… I never have."

"I don't think you were born to serve, no one's born to serve!"

"But I am!" She cutely shouted, leaning towards my face. "I was born to serve the forest heart but… he died!"

Wait… the forest heart is—

"The forest heart is alive?"

She was silent for a while. But then, She replied "Yes, My Lord. Very Much alive."

"How did 'he' die?"

"He was killed, My Lord."

"Killed?"

"By humans." She replied in a low tone.

Oh. Humans.
