I'm a Snake?

"The hell? Where am I?" [I am your land survival system, you are the new owner of this snakezoid body] [Obey me, and I shall teach you the secrets of survival with the aid of body upgrades] "What the... are you on shrooms?" ... The world that William reincarnated to, was weird. It wasn't necessarily littered with 'merlins' who could taunt actual dragons with their powers, but those who did have powers, could not be underestimated either. Once he reincarnated in this world full of snakes and lizards, William had expected to deal with a couple of fireballs at best, but no, it was dangerous to walk around without getting his head blown up. There were plenty of magicians who wielded intelligence-based powers, for example, which to some extent made them invincible too! Those weren't even the most powerful magicians, no! People were so attuned to the environment around them, along with their own bodies, that plenty of powers originated from such sources! Follow William's journey as he skims through the system's sarcasm, to grasp his rightful rise to power. Follow his journey on shifting a whole country's politics to his will, to achieve some ulterior motives, regarding his ascension to another realm! Mount triangulum

Health usually was an aspect of life that one would need to appreciate, the reasons behind that claim were beyond numerous. As for today, the eighteen-year old boy felt beyond appreciative towards his health improvement.

The prime example towards such a plentiful emotion, was the fact that William's foot almost completely healed.

The endurance upgrade had a massive influence towards such a result, in whatever way that worked?

It helped for sure, but the snakezoid also had the opportunity to eat some food. A vendor was kind enough to lend a hand, he fed the few people who had been paralysed by the battle scene.

Of course a lot of other civilians helped in one way or the other, but in this case, William felt the most benefited.

The few apples he ate had given him a wave of energy; but most importantly, his foot healed much faster.

This progress felt even more plentiful, once the system reminded the boy about a few important factors.

[You successfully found and ate some food, which in exchange has marked a side-task as complete]

[Thirty system points have been given to you as a reward,]

[Total system points = Five-hundred and forty]

Under those circumstances, those wins felt beyond great, this entire horrid day felt like a massive win.

But later on he was inflicted by the odds and ends that came when one joined an army, and those eruptions of responsibilities slowed down the boy's positive energy.

...

"This is not what I thought about when you asked me to join the army," William complained.

"Come on, this will be fun." The army general followed along.

This same general was named Hakoon, and his enthusiasm grew by each step today. Necessarily, this aura was related to the situation they planned to walk into.

However, since the young boy was well prepared for the general's prior answer, it only took him a few mere seconds to reply.

And inevitably, sass roamed across his tone. "Fun? More like suicidal. The hell am I supposed to hunt these damn bugs for? Your strong men should be able to do all that themselves."

"You're acting like you didn't kill those blue-spines with one swing," Haakon tried to pressure the other.

Within an instant, the younger one expressed. "Just because I killed them, it doesn't mean that I want to spend my entire day hunting some nasty bugs down."

"Geez, shut up already." A soldier shouted from the background.

It was difficult to figure out who uttered such a sentence, especially since the group behind them counted above fifty men, but the actual message was well delivered. These people were annoyed by the younger one who carried an ocean of complaints.

William didn't want to argue with any of these men. But although he remained quiet after that point, a couple of plans he made a few seconds after, primarily leaned towards his favour.

"I'll let you loud bastards find your own grave," The young man thought.

But he did not say that out loud, he firmly decided to be passive towards the prior conversation. This approach allowed him to focus his energy on plotting those couple of plans.

First things first, he decided that it was the best idea to let these soldiers do all of the hard work. This necessarily meant that William had to avoid all danger of which this trip had to offer.

Risk factors were expected out of this day for sure, but that reasonable conclusion led to another goal. However, this plan was far less noble in comparison.

The young man plotted to take a sizable amount of credit for this trip's future success. This plan was evil, because he didn't want to indulge in any of the upcoming battles.

Surely a lot of blood would be spilled before the army reigned victorious. The thing is, he doesn't want to join any of them, but yet still aimed to claim credit.

This plan seemed immoral for sure, but it's difficult to forget that these people, had one way or the other, forced William to join this hunting trip.

"Yes that will have to do," The young snakezoid thought out, fully convinced to indulge towards that idea.

A menacing smile stretched across his face even, he felt superior in comparison to the others. His ability to plot schemes, had gifted the boy with all of this confidence.

He felt even more capable once he considered the rewards of this trip, every step towards that direction felt worth it.

The key benefit out of those schemes, was that William would swiftly build up a good-ish reputation, even though yesterday he was considered as nothing. This was exactly what he needed.

A good reputation would make it easier to reach and converse with this so-called, king Kantemos.

The entire city adored this figure like some kind of god, so surely that same name could be out-resourced one way or the other.

"These fools will get me to their precious lord. After that, I'll rip the king's fangs out his mouth if I have to. Hell, ten-thousand system points is all worth it." William muttered, but he sounded out only two words of that whole sentence.

Thankfully no one heard the boy, so this platoon's entire plans for the day had not been delayed. Drama was one thing the younger aimed to avoid for now, it felt pointless to lose energy on it.

The group had left that massive city behind them, and dwelled deeper towards some kind of mountainside.

At the moment they had hiked just a few kilometres away from civilization, so surely there still was a long way to go.

Throughout the hike, William was given the opportunity to observe a few more details of this new world.

"Hmmm... for an odd planet filled with snakes, this place looks better than I expected." William rushed through that thought.

In an instant, the system decided to specify. [It's ecosystem is too thick and entangled; in short words, this country at least, is filled to the brim with life]

"I can see that," The young boy followed along.

At that same moment he saw some four-winged beast in the far distance. This creature screeched across the blue sky at grand speed, and it ripped through what seemed like some type of gigantic bugs!

Those bugs had to be at least a couple of feet long as well, so it's easy to say that this world was odd as much as it was interesting.

The greenery which coated this area was difficult to comprehend at least. William gazed at the mountains to his left, and he almost felt like that place was a jungle.

As that area was simply too dense, vegetation covered almost every corner of it, and there had to be quite a bunch of vines around there as well.

So it was fair to say that the whole mountainside was rich enough to have the entire platoon, easily entangled.

Uncoincidentally, this army's platoon had to hunt some thin-bodied, dangerous bugs today. These creatures had 'dragon saplings' as a name.

Apparently they tend to terrorize anyone who passed by, and have been doing so for ages. What slowed these creatures down were eventual massacres, which were unleashed by the city's army.

General Hakoon had spoken a lot about these bugs through their trip, and the details had eventually pushed the entire group into a small fright. These creatures just sounded a bit too dangerous.

So William was swift to make a firm decision about this matter, he didn't bat an eyelid about it, regardless of how immoral it seemed.

"Those bugs sound crazy, so I sure as hell am not facing any of them. Maybe things would get easier if I hid deeper in these thick-headed buffoons..." William plotted.

Now this insect problem itself doesn't seem like a big issue on hind sight, but one's eye could surely lie.

This definition can be broken down from the very root. As for example, the city of Fik they left behind, carried over five-million inhabitants.

Now with that taken into consideration, it's easy to figure out that the problem with these dragon saplings was huge.

A few bugs wouldn't be enough to terrorize a large civilization. So this necessarily meant that these nests of bugs were huge, they had to be!

The army general also explained that these bugs tend to bash their head in their target's skin. Considering that each bug was a foot long, such a fate seemed horribly painful.

The group was freaked out by the definition, even though most of them were supposed to be tough soldiers... They could murder an opponent in a heartbeat but were scared of bugs.

William was especially scared, he felt that the army general's plan had a huge hole in it. His thought process was simple, so it was easy to put two and two together.

This platoon had tremendously strong soldiers, but that was the prime example here; could quality overwhelm quantity?

Considering that this nest of bugs had troubled a massively populated city, wouldn't it mean that these enemies counted in the thousands?

It seemed beyond stupid to fight that many enemies, while these soldiers counted around fifty in number. The whole plan had a clueless aura, and such a process would not aid survival.

Unsurprisingly, it had led the boy to a predictable yet firm decision.

In short he thought out, "Whatever happens, my ass comes first. I'm not going to die for no army, some city or its king."

Although the boy's decision was quite selfish, the actual problem the people had with these bugs was still present and eminently illuminous.

These odd insects had attacked small villages, people who simply passed by, and practically anyone on their path.

Such brute work could cause a blockade in import and export of that large city they left behind, necessarily this can hurt the entire population; as eventually their everyday items would be severely delayed thanks to this dilemma, food included.

In a city of five-million, that can become more dangerous than the naked eye could catch.

But William didn't care about all of that. His focus was towards survival, not some kind of heroic act.

Likewise, he wanted a bit more time to think of the odds and ends of his plan. But it became swiftly apparent that his attention would be drained by another source!

"By the name of ever loving fuck," William mumbled, as he tried to control his excitement; he did not want to catch attention.

What caught his eye was not one, but three mountains! Sure that concept alone didn't necessarily seem exciting, especially since this world was filled to the brim with greenery; but this scene was simply marvelous.

"You love mount triangulum, ha?" Hakoon questioned after he noticed the younger's prying eyes.

These mountains seem beyond weird, yet amazing at the same time.

Everyone's view was blessed with three mountains who had seemingly linked with one another, in the most literal way possible.

William allowed silence to stretch for more than a few seconds now, but finally he felt ready to answer.

In a calm tone, he expressed. "I can see why it's called mount triangulum."

Such a sentence ended the conversation itself, as the general simply agreed on how great this odd scene of nature was. Afterwards the middle-aged man focused on managing his platoon.

In the meantime, the younger hurriedly questioned with a thought. "System, do these snakes actually know about universes and stuff?"

[No, and that's the odd part, they aren't supposed to know about things like that]

Shortly after, the snakezoid followed along. "Then how do they know anything about the triangulum galaxy?"

[They don't, it's impossible for them to know about that with their current technology. If anyone knows about this galaxy, it would be whoever...]

"Whoever named this mountain," William mumbled.

"We don't know anything about that," A random soldier interrupted.

He had heard the younger's mumble, and was happy to follow along with the topic. Unsurprisingly, the same soldier had more to say as they progressed forward with their hike.

The heavily armed man recited, "This mountain is as old as time. Legend has it that it's older than the city of Fik!"

Although the younger snakezoid loved to obtain as much information as possible, he decided to cut this conversation short.

For that matter he just had to utter, "Interesting..."

This perhaps was an odd way to end a conversation, but he simply did not expect much intelligence from someone who was rumour-oriented.

Instead, he decided to focus on the mountains once more and all of the magnificence of which they possessed.

These oddities were on top of one another, and what gave out the conclusion of these mountains being linked together, was the unnatural shape they had.

"Everything just looks so complicated," William thought.

And then he heard the system compliment that very perspective, [And it somehow attracts a lot of wildlife too, this place has more shelters so at least that makes sense.]

The need for shelter was understandable, and surely this area would prove more than useful for that matter, due to the odd shapes themselves.

It seemed like the second mountain had its green-filled, middle portion poured all over its neighbour underneath ~ surely that would create more than a few interesting caves in this whole big mess.

However, what proved interesting, was that the awkwardly extended portion of the second mountain, had covered the very tip of the first.

This gave a brief illusion that one mountain had been balanced on top of the other, but thankfully that portion was not so literal.

It did not look as if two triangles had been put on top of one another, no. The second mountain's portions had simply overlapped across the first one underneath.

However, this scene became much more interesting, once the sunlight quit blinding William's vision.

Towards of which he quietly reacted, "Uh... oh this is interesting."

Only now could he see the entire third mountain which roamed both around the other two, and everywhere else.

This portion of pointy land mass was shaped like the letter C, and it was massive! Big enough to surround both of the mountains underneath even!

It was more interesting how this third mountain was long enough to twist its way near the muddy road, it reached all the way down to the green clearing.

What proved more interesting, was the fact that a couple other portions of this mountain were overlapped on the second one underneath.

Paired with the countless trees that covered this area, some of which were bald and awkwardly big, the name for this mountain was well suited.

This odd place did not look like a triangle, but it seemed more like three of them were mixed in a blender; and the result became a three-dimensional mess!

"You like this place ha? If this is your first time here, then you haven't seen anything yet!" The general loudly interrupted.

I have an excellent idea written out on paper, so best feel sure that this plot will be... interesting.
