Riku's POV

May 5, 2001

It's been 15 years since my rebirth into this world in karikura town.

My name is Riku Katagiri, twin brother of Uryu Ishida, son of Ryūken Ishida and Kanae Katagiri. So the fact that I was born into this family meant that I was born as a Quincy. Quincies are essentially humans that have the power to see souls completely destroy hollows.

When I first found out that I was born as a Quincy I thought to myself 'Are you kidding me!?' I've always liked the Quincies but they get a bad reputation because of the soul reapers and Yhwach. Also when I looked myself in the mirror i noticed that I had my fathers white hair while uryu had moms black hair and that I looked like riku from kingdom hearts which was another surprise for me since I was a big kingdom hearts fan in my last life.

I was also a big fan of bleach in my previous life as well and it was a shame how the quincies suffered and how the thousand year blood war arc ended for the Quincies.

When I was born into this world I thought that maybe I can keep so many Quincies from dying in the thousand year blood war arc. There are ways that the war could be avoided, but Yhwach didn't think that everything splitting world into the world of the living, soul society and hueco mundo was what the soul king wanted. He's one of those people who can't respect or understand their parents decision.

So uryu and I trained with our grandfather Sōken Ishida (archery, quincy history, and [Hirenkyaku]), we did the same training. But in private I tried to train other abilities like [blut] and [shadow] but they were not easy to learn; I knew the basic principle of them from the anime and manga but putting them into practice is difficult. I also learned to use other types of weapons and martial arts; after all there are times where archery is not enough. Also in the anime and manga some of the quincies did not use bows and arrows, some used swords or other weapons so I chose to learn other methods of fighting. my personal favorite is swords and scythes; I also a soldier in my past life so I learned about firearms which was carried over but I digress.

Throughout this life i also made my own archive of what I learned from training and old knowledge from my past life just in case; can't be too careful and maybe Uryu could learn from my archive to become stronger then he was in the canon timeline. I also decided to write a letter to Uryu as a precaution if something happens to me. I gave him the letter after I was helping him train.

Flashback (1 month ago)

Uryu: "31! ... 32! ... 33! ... 34!" he said while throwing punches

I am helping my younger twin Uryu to build up his physical strength and teaching him hand-to-hand combat incase he is unable to use his bow. It's always best to have an alternative way to fight, there are times when someone has countermeasures against long range attacks. learning hand-to-hand fighting can be painful but its better then being caught defenseless when your in a fight.

Uryu: "50!" he exclaimed

Me: "That is enough, you can take a break Uryu."

After I said that he relaxed his arms, so I decided to give him a letter i wrote that contains the truth about me and the possible future in case something happened to me. Afterall, the fact that I was reincarnated into this world is a special, who knows if someone or something might try to do something to me, anything can happen. So I walked to my tired brother and called out to him.

Me: "Hey Uryu, I have something important for you." I said while i pulled a sealed envelope from my pocket and handed it to him.

He looked confused, which is understandable; I mean if I were suddenly handed a letter out of the blue, I would be confused as well.

Uryu: "What is this for brother?" he asked while holding the letter.

Me: "It is a letter with important information for you. you are to only open that letter if something happens to me. Like if I suddenly fall into a coma, disappear without a trace or something along those lines." I said to him.

After hearing this, he gave me a "are you serious?" look. so i explained to him.

Me: "I know it sounds ridiculous and crazy, but we live in a world where there are hollows, soul reapers, and quinces like us. Lets face it, the world we live in isn't what most people would call normal. Think about it, most people can't see souls, hollows and soul reapers. even those who are not quincies but are spiritually aware are might be seen as unusual."

Uryu's expression changed to a look of contemplation. well there are spiritually aware people like Don Kanonji, who took is spiritually awareness and small amount of power and use it to entertain people, get paid for it and help people at the same time. As an old saying goes 'when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.'

After a few minutes, Uryu seems to understand what I meant and replied with an "okay" before saying.

Uryu: "I understand, if something happens, I'll read the letter"

Me: "Alright, we'll rest for another 10 minutes before working on your kicks."

Present day

In the letter I included the location of our grandfathers/senseis diary that our father was hiding. I get that he's trying to support us but the way he treats us isn't how a parent should treat their kids, especially after what happened to mother.

Even if you understand someone's behavior that does not mean that their behavior is acceptable. He never explained to Uryu in the canon timeline and did the same in this timeline. 

I was walking home with Uryu after school and having a chat when I get a weird feeling as I look around. Uryu looks at me with a curious expression.

Uryu: "Is something wrong brother? do you sense a hollow or a soul reaper? "

Me: "No. I just have a feeling that something big is going to happen soon." I replied as I continue to look around.

And it's not just the fact that rukia will be coming in a few days to give Ichigo his soul reapers powers but I have a strange premonition that something will happen but can't place my finger on it.

I was not watching where I was going and if felt like there was nothing underneath me and I start falling. I think to myself 'Are you shitting me!?' This happens when I'm walking home from school with my brother?

While falling I sense that I'm surrounded by energy that's like reishi but feels different, more mana-like causing me to feel heat through my body.
